Despo (The Vampire Lestat) v. Nyanna (Alice Cullen) - from the Anne Rice and Twilight novels

Lestat

Lestat is a vampire who comes into immortality towards the end of the eighteenth century. He is a twenty-year-old male when he is taken from his mortal life and made a vampire. By the standards of his day, Lestat is tall at six feet. He has thick blond hair that goes to his shoulders and his eyes are gray. He is impetuous by nature, and is never content unless he is creating havoc somewhere. As a new vampire, his first offense to the vampire coven in Paris comes when they discover that he lives among mortals.

Never one to live by any rules, he has a natural ability to break those rules established by others. Not only does he live among mortals, but he enters churches, which goes against the early covens.

Alice

Alice is petite and pixie-like, with a graceful gait and hair that is short, spiky, and black. Her special ability is to see the future, an enhanced version of her ability to have premonitions as a human. Her ability is limited; she is only able to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Due to this, decisions made in the spur of the moment can not be foreseen.

Alice lightly walked along the treebranch, treading softly. She'd been waiting since arriving an hour ago in her beloved yellow Turbo Porsche. She was meant to be here, for some mysterious reason. The Volturi had been defeated, as well as Victoria's army....so what could have called up such a compulsive vision as she’d had last night, to come here, and wait?

She felt …not afraid, but wary. Without her coven around, and no Jasper to watch her back she was on her guard at all times, though not troubled. But something was to happen here this night, in an isolated copse of skeletal pine trees and erratic rocky outcroppings. It looked strangely like an arena…

Alice reached up to hang from another branch, swung a few times dangling her legs, then swiftly, silently, dropped to the ground many metres below. Delicately sniffed the air. There seemed to be no animals about… whatever was coming, she was prepared:

Alice twirled a strand of hair with one finger and slowly turned, letting her gaze wander around.

Mournful notes of a violin spill out into the area Alice is now standing in. The sound echoes slightly against the walls, but with a reverb that allows every note to flourish without canceling any other out. As Alice turns around to try and determine the source of the music, she suddenly realizes that this is no arena, but an amphitheater!

The haunting melody continues, and air seems to fill with a sudden energy to it, as a lone figure walks out from behind a copse, violin in hand. The figure is tall and lithe, and seems to be oblivious to everything else around him as he continues to play his instrument. Suddenly fires spring up in torches that Alice had not noticed before, illuminating the whole area in an eery soft glow.

The Vampire Lestat looks up, and as if seeing Alice for the first time, cuts off his song with a sharp dissodant note that seems to cut through the air.

Just before the first screeches of a violin Alice whirled, slightly forewarned by her power. She kept her calm countenance, slightly tilting her head as she surveyed the new arrival. She noticed the dramatic decorations of the amphitheater with approval. Points for style!

She circled the newcomer, expressionless even though he raised an eyebrow, grinning. In looks he was similar to her Jasper, but that was where similarities ended. His eyes were gray, where any vampire she knew had red or, in her Coven's case, yellow eyes... Interesting.

"...Lestat."

Huh.This vampire she had never met before, but he seemed to await to whatever contest was to happen here this day. Oh, and her turn first? How very...generous.

Alice turned away, sauntering - almost skipping - a few steps before whirling around and hurling a probing attack at him. A nice intricate Torture would do, for now. She grinned like an imp when it hit successfully, dipped her head slightly and awaited his reaction attentively.

Lestat had barely placed the violin carefully in it's case- there were not many objects he treated with such care, but then again there were not many objects that were older than him by a few centuries- when he was suddenly racked with a mild amount of pain that seemed to assail his very spirit. Gritting his teeth, he flexed his muscles as the attack abated. For an attack that he had not even seen, it left his body feeling as if had been tied to the Rack for hours on end.

Steeling himself, he spun towards the spritely young woman, seeing her grin devilishly at him like he was so used to doing to others. Letting a look of bemusement case on his face for a moment, he struck when he saw his target visibly relax for a brief moment.

Channeling thick cords of Earth, he raised large sections of the ground up around Alice in a great tremor, and although she seemed to avoid the largest pieces with a startling sort of precognition, she was still struck by many smaller jagged pieces that had the desired effect of removing the grin from her face.

She saw it coming, yet even with vampire reflexes it was too late to twirl away to total safety. Clods hit left and right, the spraying sand obscuring her vision. Alice realised as the woven Earth struck her relentlessly that this was no game, but a real fight after all.

Dust settled. Alice rose slowly from the dirt, shaking her spiky hair slightly to dislodge more sand, appearing nonchalant. Then suddenly, she lunged forward with a hiss and bowled into Lestat, sending him tumbling into a small pond. Then she started the flames dancing on the water, heating up the mere while she watched the other vampire flounder in the evermore bubbling water... unconventional, perhaps, but every bit helps.

Satisfied, Alice bounced back on her heels a smile twitching, though still wary.

DespoLestat's face contorted into a rictus of fury and rage, looking both vulpine and feral at the same time. Hearing himself compared to the sparkling wanna-be vampires contained in some foppish "young adult" fantasy series was enough to throw him into fits, as he sucked in air through clenched teeth and felt the amount of One Power surging through him grow into epic proportions.

Picking his target out clearly, as she was twirling in the light while DespoLestat himself stood ensconced in shadows, he threw his arms up and released a powerful offensive attack at NyannAlice, and growled in exultant rage as the ground sprung up all around her once again.

This time the ground split open with deep jagged chasms that allowed Alice to fall deep within it's grasp, then the terrain grinded back together, clutching Alice with an immensely powerful grip that threatened to crush her.

Alice woke up in the clutches of an earthy mass. She blinked the sand out from her eyes and slowly collected her sprawled limbs… sitting up she tried to look around, bared her teeth slightly at the claustrophobic closeness of so much earth. But it was loose enough to burrow out…

Popping out of the earth gracefully, Alice turned on her heel in the same motion and shot a glance at the powerful vampire. This guy wasn’t playing a game, so much was..painfully… clear.

Why were her visions betraying her? They did not show what Lestat would attack with in time for her to defend herself. Maybe it was his impulsiveness, he seemed to make decisions in the spur of a moment, unforeseen.

She clutched at the One Power fiercely. If she was going down, then she planned to go down with a fight. Weaving a tightly furled ball of Fire and Spirit, she mustered all her concentration into movements preparing to launch it at Lestat with the greatest speed possible. Executing a perfect baseball pitching, she hurled it, enforcing it with Air.

Whump.

At the last moment Lestat seemed to …dissolve as the moved with vampire exclusive speed.

She’d not seen that.

Alice crouched slightly, peering at the other vampire through narrowed yellow eyes. Her visions had better work this time...

Figuring he had this one in the bag, DespoLestat met NyannAlice's eyes and gave her a smirk for the road. Altho he would never call this one a brethren to one such as himself, he still admired her spirit as she fended off his powerful attacks. And her rambunctious attitude had definitely helped him to warm up for what would surely be a long trek through the tourney. He prepared his next attack, one which wasn't the most elegant of attacks that he knew, but would still get the job done and also seal close this amphitheater which he had begun to grow tired of

Weaving together threads of Earth and Spirit, he sent forth the weave into the ground, and the whole arena started quaking in tremors. At the very moment he had set forth his attack however, NyannAlice had sprung off the ground and climbed from a tree to a small enclove in lithe movements. Although the tremors seemed to create general destruction just about everywhere in the arena, the small enclove she now hid in remained relatively unscathed from the attack.

DespoLestat's smirk first transformed into a look of inquisitiveness, then into one of vexed frustration as he realized his opponent was not quite ready to meet the fate he was prepared to set out for her.

Up in safety, NyAlice waited out the last tremors. Thankful her premonitions had not left her for good, she prepared her immediate retaliation already as the last rocks crumbled down. With a bound she leapt out of the hideyhole, calling together Fire and Water alike to send a mercilessly searing fog at the strange vampire. This would hopefully assail him for long enough time for her to prepare another attack. Futile as her chances might be.

Attack: Scalding Steam

Damage: Nill

Hissing slightly, Alice peered out of the shadows of the trees trying to spot Lestat… he was still encased in the steam for all she knew, but this one was a slippery one… she sought futilely for a vision.

Crouching in the cursed fog, DespoLestat's face became grim as he considered his surroundings. His skin slowly etched away as the steam scoured away at him, but DespoLestat had long ago realized what amount of pain and disfigurement he could tolerate in order to achieve his goals. Besides, after the fire that had ravaged him and the swamp alligators that he had to contend with last time he sat decomposing in a murky fog, steeling himself for this attack had been relatively easy, and his regenerative abilities would help him recover to his beautiful state once again.

Till that happened however, he would make sure to avoid any mirrors, he thought to himself with a chuckle.

Lestat_When_He_Returns.png

Marshalling a portion of his strength, he decided to try and deal with the impertinent young creature's ability to apparently foresee the future by trying to randomly select a weave to attack with. For a moment he had decided upon Water, so he could wash away all the dirt off the girl's person, but at the last second he switched to weaving just Air instead, and sent a sharp gust NyannAlice's way.

It seemed like she tried to avoid it at the last second, tho she would not be able to see the weave at all, but the attack hit nonetheless, and spun the Cullen girl around in a flourish before depositing her on the ground on her hands and knees. Though the attack could not have done much physical harm to her, DespoLestat knew the relentless attacks had surely dampered her spirits.

He felt like he should feel happiness at seeing his opponent crumble in anguish so, but for some strange reason he felt a certain sadness that the fight had not been more of a challenge. Frowning as he swept away these feelings, he thought about how he must be growing soft in his centuries-old age. Or perhaps it was just his past experience with young girls...

NyAlice straightened indignantly as she caught a glimpse of Lestat deciding to use Water… her, dirty? Well they’d just see about- she was whirled away by a biting flurry of Air that struck out of nowhere. Gasping, she scrambled up from her knees and staggered up. This had long ceased to be a little game, so she wasted no time in retaliating – how were vampires be killed? Tear them limb from limb and burn in fire, that’s what the cookbook coven said. Unluckily there was no Emmett and Jasper to help her tear this one to pieces, so she’d have to content herself with just Fire.

She lunged, an inferno of flames rushing towards Lestat with heinous roaring.

As Alice was helped away to the Healing station to have her injuries tended to, she nodded slightly in acknowledgement to Lestat. It had been a good fight. With her last energy, just before she passed out, Alice's voice rang out:

Jingle bells, Twilight smells, Edward ran away

Bella died, Jacob cried, Potter all the way, HEY!
