I've been having these weird thoughts lately...

Since this has been bumped again anyway now is a good time for an update!

 

I just went through all my games and various folders and did some organizing (something you guys will never see obviously but it should make the games run that much smoother when the time comes). I also added dozens of new pictures for roles. Some were better pictures and some roles now have two pictures (one for your PM and one for when you're killed/lynched). Small things but they should be somewhat aesthetically pleasing and I hope it makes the games just a little bit more enjoyable.

 

Also of note (this is a big one) I changed a role and added a role to the final setup. I was never happy with how that one turned out balance wise and it's still not balanced by any means (I'll go over why when/if the game is ever played) but I think I tipped it a little bit closer to what balanced might be.

 

Can't wait to start up the first game!

If inactivity becomes an issue in my games replacements and modkills will be handed out swiftly.

I can't know beforehand who is going to flake on me and I urge anyone who is unsure of their schedule or interest level to just not sign up.

As a mod that's the best I can do.

I'm sorry man. My activity level in games right now isn't where I'd like it to be and I hate being part of the problem these boards are having with activity in mafia games. If I were to join your game more than likely I wouldn't be able to put in enough time to do it justice right now.

 

And also I'm really not into the theme at all.

Another thing I'd like to see changed is more people making sign ups...and then making their games when they know how many players they have rather than starting with a setup and trying to fill the space. I feel like this would not only result in faster sign ups but I also think it'll make for better games because I think more people will join because they actually want to play rather than as a favor for someone to fill space because they're having trouble finding enough people for their game.

The issue with that is I worked on my setup for a long time, if in had done it that way, people would of been waiting weeks and curcumstances would of changed so we would be where we are now anyway

The problem with this is that the mods on DM have varying degrees of experience. The way you suggest would work for a game run by you and a handful of others. Less experienced mods need to get their game checked first, and to do so they need a setup in place to send to whoever vets it. Mods without enough experience aren't going to know how to change their setup on the fly to adapt to however many players they are actually able to get and still keep things balanced.

I won't mandate how mods should design their games.  If they have an idea and need a certain # of people, then fine.  If they can't get that required #, well perhaps they need to call an audible on that one.  But I won't tell them to get signups and THEN create a game.  If you choose to do it this way, that's cool.

Poor wording on my part. I meant a change within the community not like a mandate. But Basel is right, varying degrees of experience make that kind of impossible anyway unless we want to deal with some potentially bad games.

Well..."made". I have to note that the backgrounds are not mine I found them elsewhere on the internet. 

And my skills at making cool fonts are minimal. But uhh yeah these are here if you want to use them.

 

 

 

The third one is actually too big. I didn't realize it at first. If anyone would like to shrink it down (I don't know how while still maintaining how it looks) feel free.

Oh and if anyone is wondering why they don't say "Kingdom Hearts Mafia" or somesuch it's because if I did that I'd like to use the Kingdom Hearts font but making it takes a painstakingly long time (for me anyway) and the last few times I tried it lagged photoshop and just refused to work right at all. So yeah. If you'd like to add it yourself or hey if anyone wants to make signatures for this go right ahead.

I didn't know there was a standard. I just kind of went with images that looked approximately the right size and that I thought were cool.

 

More signatures and/or help would be great!

 

...I think. I'm not even sure if anyone wants to use these to be honest. I haven't noticed anyone using them anyway.

I think it used to be an expected thing to have signatures for mafia games but I'm not sure how popular that still is really.

Yeah the DM standard is 500x125. Well it's the max size really, but mostly everyone sticks to that size so their rotation looks nice and even ;P

 

With a proper program the size of the image doesn't matter; it can be resized, cropped or rotated to look the best it can.

 

It seems like the thing with wearing signatures from mafias people have played in is going away. But I think that for a moderator having a signature is important, as it'll advertise your mafia everywhere you post :)
