Creativity and a great big pot,

a caldron to mix up the lot!

and words start forming everywhere!

I'm not crazy

the Soldier said.

I'm quite all right

inside my head.

 

He channeled more

to grow in strength

until he got

the Sword, at length!

 

I'm still not mad,

he thought inside,

I'll simply skip

that Tainty ride!

 

So more and more

he touched the Source

to blow up rocks

and do his chores.

 

Eventually

with labors there

he earned the Dragon

pin to wear.

 

I'm still quite sane!

he said with glee

I have no phantoms

(except old Smee)

 

Smee's a pirate

from a book.

He stands behind me

in my nook.

 

He showed up, oh,

a year ago

when on my lapel

a sword did go.

 

I don't know why

or whence he came

and all he says

is his own name.

 

But he's very good

to have around

when I think that

my mind's not sound.

 

He comforts me

when I'm afraid

of madness, death

and what Taim said.

 

So there you are!

I'm very fine

As the candle flickers low,

casting out its feeble light,

something waits around it now,

waits for it to lose its fight.

 

Candle dies, its wick goes out

curls of smoke disturb the air.

Darkness heaves a vict'ry shout

and enfolds the quiet stair.

 

Shadows loom around us here.

Coldness chills our bodies through.

Feel the rising, creeping fear.

Alone, listening to the waves whisper.

The moon rose golden and lit a path

lights the world in gold

clouds outlined in color

night has grown too old

 

Noontime's burning heatwave

shows the world true

shadows down to nothing

sky of perfect blue

 

Afternoon's for resting

in some cooler place

as the warmth of daylight

keeps on with its chase

 

Sunset, bloody sunset

world tinted red

molten steel horizons burn

pastel sky o'erhead

 

Dusk creeps in upon us

sun below the edge

grey-toned world in twilight

day is on the ledge

 

Now the day has ended

ushered off by night

all the world's waiting

for tomorrow's light
