Lord of Chaos......Need

I am pretty sure this has been discussed, but can not find the thread. In Lord of Chaos, chapter Under the Dust, Elayne and Nyneave are searching for something to help with rand by need in the dream world. They end up in the tower with a room of Ter angreal. Do we know what it is that is in there that he needs, or have we not gotten back to that yet?

I dont think it was related so much to what Rand needed as to the fact that they were terangreal and any that could be identified would be useful in TG. It could also be a hint that it was a terangreal that was needed. My last idea is that that was where the Horn was kept and that is needed for the Last Battle

At that point, we don't know what it is. We do know what needs fixing, but it doesn't relate to Rand directly. I won't tell you what it is unless you want to know now.

Hmm i would like to know, ive read the books a billion times, so i assume its just something i keep missing. So i wouldnt mind knowing.

Its strange they haven't used Need again, it seems awfully practical.

No, they went to a specfic item covered in a sheet or something. It was a thing. It's actually one of the mysteries some fans hope will be revealed.

 

I mean, they have a basement full of stuff, and if the Rhuidian stuff arrived they have even more now. Some of them are bound to be Angreal and Sa'angreal, female and male. It would be extremely stupid not to go down and pull it out before the last battle.

There are some fairly serious dangers associated with using Need, and too you literally have to have a specific Need for it to work.

There is no reason for it to be, though. There was nothing in the Need that required that.

I remembered that their "Need" was that Salidar would not surrender to White Tower. Egwene was in TAR and in the room with ter'angreal. So it was Elayne and Nynaeve was bring to that room by need because Egwene was the solution.

I thought the need was something to help Rand.

It was. Something that would help Rand AND bind the Salidar Aes Sedai to his side. The Bowl gave them that because it fixed the weather, which helped Rand, and it allowed them to make the Aes Sedai think Rand was needed to make it work.

I just read it the other day during my current reread.

 

Their initial 'need' was something to help Rand, and bind the Salidar AS to him. However, as they used it, Nyn complained that it wasn't working and Elayne replies that, "What you need isn't always what you want.".

 

So, Need didn't help them the way Nyn wanted it to, but it did take them to the place where the bowl was. Which was, even though they didn't know it, exactly what they and the world needed as of that moment.
