It's quite a good version, however personally i prefer the Argenstock version (

).

It sounds more like a drinking song, such as the Band would sing around the fires at night, but that's just my opinion.

Yea Sir Brammer's version is more how I sing it in my head when I read the book. The other version is nice, but I can't imagine anyone marching to that. Or drinking and singing.

I've always sang it in my head to the tune of "Donald Wheres your Trousers" a good Gaelic cadence that can be used for marching to or drinking and pestering bar maids

EDIT: ARGH I'VE BEEN NINJA'D

Both versions are awesome, just like what you'd want to hear arround a campfire. But isnt Jack'o the Shadows a marching cadence?

Robert Jordan intended the song to be sung to the tune of GarryOwen.

Get the lyrics up and try singing them to the music (try not to get caught up by the original words). It fits perfectly.

Yeah, thats a great fit; its perfect for Jack-o the shadows. The beat sounds like it could still be a doubletime march cadence. With the Band's ability to move faster farther and harder than their contemporaries i can see them really getting into the doubletime songs.
