washed-up, on shore, the old yellow notebook

out again

I write from the bed

as I did last

year.

will see the doctor,

Monday.

"yes, doctor, weak legs, vertigo, head-

aches and my back

hurts."

"are you drinking?" he will ask.

"are you getting your

exercise, your

vitamins?"

I think that I am just ill

with life, the same stale yet

fluctuating

factors.

even at the track

I watch the horses run by

and it seems

meaningless.

I leave early after buying tickets on the

remaining races.

"taking off?" asks the motel

clerk.

"yes, it's boring,"

I tell him.

"If you think it's boring

out there," he tells me, "you oughta be

back here."

so here I am

propped up against my pillows

again

just an old guy

just an old writer

with a yellow

notebook.

something is

walking across the

floor

toward

oh, sorry about the poemy crap.... not quite maudlin yet, not going to get affectionate, might totter over to slpppy but won't be able to type anymore... think i'll be a bit ragey or at the very least sulky... yes, it's a bitter, sulky drunk for sure... but i'll try to hold that in... and surely not up for funny.

 

so i thought poemy was the way to go there.

 

we'll see how this progresses.

 

hopefully i'll just pass out and remember to delete this tomorrow.

i will not dare him to do his birthday shots in TQ when he turns 32, assuming he hasn't, because i think it might kill him.

 

but i did.

 

and worked all that day and the next. feeling perfectly fine. the manager was a bit worried, but the line was short, and i ran it well.

 

just sayin.

 

not a good thing, but this is an evil place, so i share it in evil will.

 

haven't done anything like it in many years. andnot starting again now. but i think that's what it would have taken to actually get drunk.

I'm timeless and so can't be subscribed to any particular age. Aging is so mundane. But, I AM impressed with your 32 birthday shots! Just think of what will happen when you hit 40!! Age notwithstanding, we should trade stories some time - you sound fun! And I have a couple stories that would curl your toe nails lol. Coupled with Lily who is the quintessential good drinking partner, we'd have ourselves a good time!
