Smiley73 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Topic title comes from Jeff Dunham's "Achmed the dead terrorist" which I as a muslim find disturbingly funny. Actually Ive been pretty inactive in August because of my religion. I've been fasting, which might mean absolutely nothing to most of you, essentially it means no food or water from sunrise to sunset, my non-muslim friends think I'm crazy for doing it and I understand the opinion but what do YOU think, you taint-brownie-eating non-fasters?
Mrs. Cindy Gill Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 following the tenets of your religion isn't crazy. i am not judging your craziness on any other grounds because that's the basis you set.
Smiley73 Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 meh most people rate that its hard, it actually isnt really, there's probably some mind/matter, subconcious mind thing going on... or your smart and eat something that will fill you up the entire day (oat type/high fibre cereal)
Mrs. Cindy Gill Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 i only ever made it all the way through yom kippur once, but that's 25 hours. there's a whole mess of other half and whole day fasts. not the funnest time, but definitely doable.
eclipse0 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 i follow the tenet of "eat all you want, we'll make more"
SBoydW Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Good policy. Tenets are always a good thing to follow.
Mrs. Cindy Gill Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 i sense your sarcasm. but i have enough things to make up for already, so i don't see the point on laming out on the easy stuff.
eclipse0 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Sarcasm? Nah, I'm not religious, and I never had much discipline for it. Doesn't mean I don't respect others who do. I was taking a jab at myself actually. SMILE NOW PWEASE!!!
Mrs. Cindy Gill Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 now i have a smile before i watch logans run and the 5th element, and a couple of MST3Ks before i pass out. thank you.
Mrs. Cindy Gill Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 joel. seriously, is that even a question? and now, really must off, before i profess more love for the humans.

Mrs. Cindy Gill Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 (you're not that mike. that mike's no joel. i could see you being ajoel. or at least a fine bot.)
Mrs. Cindy Gill Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 philistine. he quit. mike was a superdork, who grew loveable in the way that dorks will over time. you are simply flinging insults because where you were trained, this is considered appropriate interaction. it has not been appropriate since don rickles passed on.
Talmanes Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I think fasting isn't something I'd enjoy, but I think I could manage. The body doesn't need nearly as much food as most people put in it. I've done this thing called 30 Hour Famine before, but you can have limited liquids in that, so it isn't totally fasting.

Do you take everything seriously?

Smiley73 Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 ^lolz, hide! that might be my favourite question ever
Leyrann Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Well, IIRC, Jewish people are the only ones who celebrate Yom Kippur.
