Hey.

I found it strange that I have been reading wheel of time for all these years but never been part of a wot community. I guess its about time.

I just finished reading the series for the 11th time, so i guess i can be called a fan. (Some books i have read less since they came out after I had read it all a few times etc). I started reading back when a path of daggers just had come out, and I have been reading wot ever since, often parallel to other reading projects. Sadly, few of my friends are into WoT, and I often have felt the need for discussing the books with someone intimate with the series, a need that has thus far not been satisfied. Been checking in on dragonmount for news updates about the books every once in a while for several years, and i am/was a huge fan of the wotmania theory post.

Got a wheel of time tatoo some years back, tho text and image are a bit unrelated. I wanted to hit two ta'verens with the same penstroke.

Anyway, I am looking forward to partake in the community, to share and discuss.

So a cheers from a norwegian Wheel of Time fan

Nice tat! And lovely to see another Norwegian on here

It's odd how many of us came on here because we don't know anyone else in meatspace who reads the books, considering how many readers (and DM members) there are. Thank the Light for DM! lol

Hope we see you over at the RP and/or the Social side, Elementality.

Welcome to Dragonmount.com, Elementality.

You have found what I believe is the very best fan forum and message board for a fictional series of books. Stick around here long enough, and I can promise you that not only will you meet cool and interesting people online, but also that you will become friends with some whom you regularly interact. Your website sounds interesting, and I will definitely check it out.

We have many different forums and sub-forums where you can discuss practically anything that you want; including discussions that are not WOT based, but on just about anything else in this world that you might want to discuss. I encourage you to browse the forums, read and also participate in the countless discussions that are ongoing. Also, some of the places where WOT fans can have the most fun are in the various Social Groups here, based upon different groups written by Robert Jordan in the Wheel of Time. These Social Groups include, but are not limited by; the Aiel, The White Tower, The Black Tower, the Ogier, and Shayol Ghul.

If you are interested, post what you like best in The Wheel of Time series, and then you can be given suggestions as to which ones of the Social Groups on Dragonmount that you might like. Dragonmount also has roleplay forums for those whom want to immerse themselves in character into the most fascinating fantasy world ever created, the world of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me at any time.

p.s. I really like your tattoo. It's one of the coolest tattoos EVER. cool.gif

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome!

And thanks for teaching me a awesome new word: meatspace, me likes.

If u can judge a community by the way it greets its new members, well, I guess I will want to stay here :)

Regarding my favorite faction/topic/aspect of the Wheel of Time, I must say this is a hard question. I have always had a fascination with male channelers, and I really love the Aiel society and how their idea of honor and obligation rules them stronger than any written laws could rule any other people. Being a science teacher I have always wanted to discuss the biological aspect of the wot universe; trollocs and their origins, how Aginor created them, and how the myrdraal are in like they are. And where did u guys hide the wotmania theory posts :) Been missing those alot! I'd also like to discuss (or i guess rather be told) which science/mythology/religion/society mr Jordan was inspired by when he me made this or that nation/race/...

Regarding the tattoo, its (ofc) the inverted image of Rand al'thors logo in the books. I hope its not "blasphemous" to invert it, otherwise I'd have a backwards dragon on my shoulder :)

Always wanted to have either a heron in my palm (looking burned and a bit opaque) or Ji'e'toh branded in my right palm, to seal the deal with a handshake. Anyway, a man needs his dreams....

Not sure I am too happy with my current nick, but I have been using "Jahar" while playing rpg games online, and I didn't want to use it in here, since I always feel a bit bad when i steal from mr Jordan :). So I guess it was time for a change.

Would love to get pointed in the direction of a nice social group u think would fit my interests.

Edit: what do i have to do to get access to the chatroom?

Cheers for the warm welcome

Jahar is probably my favourite character our of the whole book

Vambram has already sent you in the direction of the BT and the Aiel Social Groups, so I'll address the chatroom thingy: those are only available to premium members, who pay for the privilege. Can't help you more than that, I'm afraid, since I'm not one of those.

You'll find most of us on MSN or yahoo or google chat, though, and there's even a Facebook section.

I don't think there is any religion in Wheel of Time. Everyone acknowledges the Creator but I can't remember anyone praying. i thought I saw a Discussion on this topic some time ago. Well, feel free to pop in Discussions or more of the Social Groups.

There are a few instances where Aes Sedai have prayed over the bodies of people who died, but not much other than that.

You got me all wrong, i did not think About religion in the wheel of time, but rather which religions have influenced the books. I agree that all in this world agree on the creator, and there is no competition to that idea. But I was thinking about for example the children of the light, in my views they bear some resemblance to the knight templars. Not perhaps a religious reference, but by nature linked to Christianity. I was thinking more along those lines.

i know what you mean, Elementality. various religions, and mythologies, appear to be major influences behind the WOT. i see the children of the light more as inquisitors, but i'm sure that most everything in the series has multiple real world parallels.

Hello there Elementality, and welcome to teh Dragonmount! I see you joined for a lot of the same reasons that I did when I joined.

There's definitely a lot of religious/mythological influences on the Wheel of Time, so you could probably get a good discussion going on that. (If there isn't on already there)

As for Social Groups, feel free to jump in whichever you like. I don't know as much about the other Social Groups, but the Black Tower is mostly about laid back general conversation with various activities available. (We're sort of the "spam" Social Group)

Anyway, hope you enjoy Dragonmount; glad you're here. :)

Welcome!

If you like looking at the affect of religions on literature, I'd highly recommend any of Brandon Sanderson's novels, as they pretty much all explore religion in one way or another.

I'd also highly recommend the Black Tower Social Group. :) We are actually currently hosting a discussion on Post-Taint Male Channelers I think you would be interested in as well.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your tat! :D

Oh and yeah, welcome to DM! LOL

I also have a WoT tat in dedication to the enormous impact that series had on my life. Not as nice as yours. It's the WoT symbol with the wheel and the snake. Simple, but sometimes that's all a tat needs to rock. ^_^

I hope you enjoy the DM experience and if you need any help or just chat feel free to PM me!

Cheers,
