No, it's the extra guy from the first cover of Eye of the World, the one cut in the editing process. The next book is where he makes his grand return as the fourth ta'veren! :D

Yeah, there was a shot of him on the spine of the book. I do agree that the Forsaken have really shafted here.

Regardless, I could care less what terrible cover they put on AMOL. The author they use is probably very good and a lot of people seem to like his style but I hate it. Honestly as an aspiring author I would rather have just the name of the book and such as my cover than suffer that to be put on it.

 

Now the eBook though (all of which have decent to spectacular art), I would love to have Rand skimming to SG (if he actually does such a thing). I think that would be a suitably dark and final image for the last book.

Personally, I am sick of seeing the ta'veren on the covers. They barely make up 50% of the story line together, why are they on all of the covers? But what I think matter not a whit as to what scene BS has chosen.

 

I believe that Brandon will, like with ToM, pander to the fans by giving them something they want and know is coming. For that reason I think there are only a few real choices for the cover.

 

1) Rand descending alone into Shayol Ghul.

 

2) The three on a boat scene.

 

3) Lan at Tarwin's gap.

 

I am really hoping for the second but I doubt it will come true.

I do not really think that it is fair to blame Mr. Sanderson for the covers, in the case of The Gathering Storm he appeared somewhat surprised at what it contained when it was leaked.
