Curt hasn't been the only victim of this logic, either. So here's the logic: I vote for Leelou (who wasn't on the shortlist), therefore I must be protecting someone on the shortlist.

This makes no sense, because if I'm protecting one person on the shortlist, I'm really protecting them all (by trying to start a bandwagon for leelou). But this would be a bad play for a mafia member. Scum would focus on one person on the shortlist that was not on their scum team, because people on that list are more vulnerable than someone not on that list.

okay, let me ask you something. we have a list that we know has a really good chance of having scum in it (atleast we have a better chance logically hitting scum on that list than off it imo) so the underlined portion of your quote makes no sense.

why would the scum want to narrow the number of possible scum on the list? this also goes for NKing anyone on the list as far as i'm concerned too. they'd be stupid to, as it makes it much easier for us to narrow it downand lycnh them. so yes, it makes perfect sense for the scum to try and distract from the list by NKing & attempting to direct a lynch towards someoen who isn't on the list.

thsi is also a subtle way, imo, for you to attempt to discredit lynching people off the list with giving yourself an out as well.

I'm not sure I can be back today (got a lot of work), but I'll try to login at least once more before deadline.

this vote pings me greatly. nothing to say in response to Drew, just a "i said i would vote him, so heres my vote"

and also puts Drew back at L-1.

Red - to your first point, yes, you're right that it narrows down the shortlist if the scum are on it, but it also buys them another day/kills another town (two after the NK if they get it), and gives them distance from the list, a chance to make a new list, etc. I think it would be worth it for the scum to try to lynch someone on the shortlist not on their scum team, especially because they have a good chance at lynching a scum from the other team. So I disagree that it makes no sense, though your point has to be taken into consideration as well. My main point, though, is that accusing me of being scum for voting for someone not on the shortlist (leelou, the hammer) wasn't fair.

BG makes a pretty clear defense of himself, but BG is also smart and wouldn't overreact. But my suspicion is eased a little bit. I quoted your statements about Csarmi because this is exactly what I was talking about - "well, Drew's got votes on him, and I gave myself an out earlier by saying I would vote for him, so now I'm voting for him so I don't miss the lynch." Major FOS at Csarmi if I'm lynched for voting without addressing me at all.

Sorry I've been a little scarce lately, but I'm busy so that's just the way it is.

At this point, especially when it is L-1, there is no way in hell I'm voting Drew, unless it is necessary for a controlled lynch.

Honestly I think a lot of the 'evidence' on Drew was a little weak. Yes there are Freudian slips, but I think when someone is using hypotheticals it should be a little obvious.

I hope that if Drew gets lynched, he flips scum, but at this point I don't see enough evidence to vote for him, and I won't, unless, like I said, it is that or a random lynch.

I should be able to get on just before the lynch if need be.

As for BG, I think better points were made on him than Drew, but I also think that some of them were reaching as well, and Drew just trying to save his own ass, which is understandable.

Talm i still suspect you cause you opened that whole can of worms on voting Leelou (who has yet to really explain her vote to make it not FOS worthy for me)

but i agree with what you said for the most part. right now my main reason for being okay with a lynch on Drew is how fast he jumped on the Leelou lynch; for that reason i'd be just as fine with lynching you as well.

another option i'm leaning towards is CS. that vote on Drew, lack of response to Drews posts & that he's on the list makes him a viable candidate for me as well. i'm willing to either switch my vote to Talm or CS; or leave it on Drew. i'll be here until 3pm CST; but as i stand we do need to make a decision. it's 3 hrs until deadline; if no ones gonna unvote Drew we might as well hammer him and move on. there will be plenty of info to gain from his lynch too no matter which way he flips

Okie so it seems I did get back in time.

I wasn't sure that I would.

I don't know which of you (Drew or BG) is more likely to turn up scum.

Actually, either of you is pretty likely to, given that the shortlist should contain like 2-5 maffia players out of 6.

Now yesterday I stated that I would support a controlled lynch and most likely I would vote Drew.

Why on Drew?

My shortlist:

leelou (that hammer)

Blackhoof (jumping around acting scummy)

Drew (most scummy on SLSP for me)

Red (keep pinging me this game)

Now even though I found leelou most scummy, I realized we wouldn't be lynching her, as the SLSP members are so much more likely to be scum.

Let's take a look at that list:

Talmanes, csarmi, Drew, Aust, BG (Tynaal), Song

Now Song had been pinging me and her 'L3' vote was quite strange, but her explanation afterwards seemed sincere.

I find Aust the least likely to be scum. I like his posts and seems pro-town for me, even though he seems a little bit inactive.

I don't have a good read on Talmanes.

I find BG scummy with those distracting statistics, but he talks a lot and I don't know what to make of his vote on me.

I like that he's active, however.

Actually, I don't find Drew more scummy than others on this list. I believe that he's still better than a random lynch, however.

I voted him because he was the only viable alternative as a non-random lynch for me.

I also think there is a reasonable chance that he would turn up scum. If he doesn't, we can continue with the next one on the list. That could be BG, most likely?

As for lynches building up slow or fast:

I don't agree that a lynch building slowly means maffia. Everyone has teammates in this game and I suppose teammates wouldn't be very likely to vote each other, now would they? While we cannot/should not speculate on who's teamed with who (and wouldn't be wise either for several reasons), I thought I should point that out.

Now I'll be online till deadline so I'm gonna do some readup here and address some points directly.

There's an hour and fifteen minutes left til deadline.

If no one is lynched, there might be a random modkill. There might not be. Either way, please remember that if, at any point in this game, no lynch is achieved twice, I will end this game. I take that as a sign that people don't want to play anymore.

Csarmi, you are misleading town in a major way here. Town votes who they think is scum, and a common scum tactic is to convince others that there is only one choice. 11 hours is a loooong time. You could have made a compelling case against someone else, or not voted at all. I was at L-2 when you voted - there would have been no shortage of votes (and likely will be no shortage of votes) before the deadline to get a hammer - 11 hours is too far away to be that concerned about a random lynch. And now, with this comment, done only after Red and I cast suspicion on you...

Well I couldn't. Lack of time today + I really don't know... The people pinging me most are leelou and Red. Are you suggesting I should have cased them with so low time left and zero chance to get a lynch on them anyway?

I can't find where I originally said it to quote, however, please note: If another day goes by without reaching a lynch, this game will be over. I take that as a sign that players don't want to play anymore. This game can't move forward without lynches. No lynches benefit no one, whether you're mafia or town (except maybe Drew, in this case, since he was up for a lynch :biggrin: )

if there is, we will know one of two things

-one mafia team has gained a permanent lynch

-there is a third party player running around

if there isnt, we know that there is no third party player (assuming that they cannot avoid NK'ing)

at least we will have learned something from this.

If I'm the only one on all the three lynches, no wonder we didn't get a lynch today. Note how all the other five of the 'Scary Six' went for some not-very-meaningful votes. If 5 players out of 14 kind of refuse to vote (refuse to be on a lynch, rather), what are the chances to get 8 players on a lynch?

an interesting point you raise, csarmi. several possibilities for the mass-move away

-coincidence

-seeing their trouble, they all coordinate in their scum QT to avoid the lynch, to avoid suspicion

-seeing their trouble, they all decide independently to avoid the lynch, to avoid suspicion

if reason 1 or 3 is the right one, you are still suspicious as theonly one on all lynches.

if reason 2 is right, you are free.

unfortunately we have no way of knowing.
