A question about relations.....

Does anyone thing the fact that Galad and Rand are brothers will play a part in the story?

They are both sons of Tigraine, thus, half brothers......

I think there is likely to be a little bit of an emotional reveal and the beginnings of a friendship. I don't expect it to have much impact on the plot though.

I think it's clear that the various familial bonds will bring the Whitecloaks to fight on Rand's side but they're kind of an afterthought now compared to the sizes of the armies that are about the place these days.

The interesting part will be when Gawyn decides to try and kill Rand... but I just know Egwene is going to ruin it.

First off, would Galad believe Rand if he told him? Having spent some time inside his head (that much isn't really a spoiler, now is it?), I doubt it. It's not like Rand has any real proof.

Second, knowing that any family members he has might become targets, I'm not sure Rand would even tell him in the first place.

Except for his face anyway.

Many people have said he looks like her. That alone may cause perhaps hidden emotions in Galad, seeing a man with HIS mothers face-the DR no less.

I imagine sometime in the future maybe they will sharing a campfire, or some other way they will come face to face, and the conversation will be something like...

:rand:- "your mother was Tigraine?"

:whitecloak: Galad- "she WAS" with mixed emotions of loss and anger which he quickly stomped down.

:rand:- "she was my mother too." momentary silence "tell me about her, please"

:whitecloak: Galad- staring w/ shock that turned into bitterness, "I don't remember much. She abandoned me and my father when I was five."

:rand:- with sincere sympathy, "You lost her at the same age I lost my foster mother" putting his hand on Galad's shoulder to which Galad looked at like a viper and then back at the DR with wariness. "I'm sorry she had to leave you. She was going on the strong advice of an AS, had she NOT have left I would not have been born", grimacing, "It's not fair I know but she did what she thought was right." Finishing with a sympathetic smile.

:whitecloak: Galad- Looking into the eyes of this aberration with his mothers face, bitterness melted into pride. He was right, the DR - his brother - was right; she did what was right. With a slow smile and offering his hand, "I am honored to have you as a brother"

:rand:- Smiling back and taking his brothers hand, "likewise".

Maybe they end with a hug, but what ever happens, Rand will probably make it a private chat if he's worried Galad will become a target.

That was just an idea. I'm sure I'm way off, please no rotten tomatoes.
