DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Our Main Character Bios - please help

Recommended Posts

All the RP Groups have been asked to get their Main Character Bios up to date or written up. So I've been playing with the Wonder Girl bios, because the ones we have make me want to smack someone. I don't see the point in having characters that are so completely different from the original that you can't recognize them either by name or personality - it's just utterly confusing. Tay, Owen, please let me know if it's TOO close to the original.

I propose changing the names to something people will actually recognize. I have never seen these characters RPed, or mentioned (unless you use wayback machines, in which case ... who cares??), so I don't think it will have a huge impact changing them. (Owen's given me permission for this)

Proposed:

"Egwene" - called Mili Al'Taron - propose: Eldwene al'Varin (not quite happy with the name - ideas?)

"Nynaeve" - called Raina al'Doran - propose: Nana al'Mara

"Elayne" - called Elnora Trakand - propose: keeping it, as it's close enough and has already been changed to that

"Moiraine" - called Adelle Damar - propose: Mariana Damar

I'm going to post what we had and then what I've worked up so far (1 post for each of the 4 characters, so please wait till they're all up), but I sort of ran out of inspiration / energy so I'm asking your help in completing them.

Please stick to the topic and ONLY post here if you have some relevant input. NO SPAMMING! (Is tired)

Moiraine

What we had:

Adelle Damar - "Moiraine"

Height: 1,60m

Birthplace: Cairhien

Age: 70

Hair: Dark brown

Eyes: Dark brown too

History:

Adelle grew up in the royal palace in Cairhien, she was taught the Great Game early on and plays it without always being aware of it and since she grew up in the palace she has very good knowledge of the Great Game as the masters schooled her in it. She left the palace at the age of 16 with a servant to go to Tar Valon; she was there tested by the Aes Sedai and did not leave the island for 20 years. She experienced the Aiel war behind the shining walls of Tar Valon and it was there she was made aware of the birth of the Dragon reborn, she learnt it from an Aes Sedai who had the talent of Foretelling. Sadly the sister died on the spot, but Adelle made it her life task to find the Dragon reborn and guide him on to the right track to Tarmon’Gaidon. To help him in anyway she could, to warn him about dangers that she know he will face, to offer her services as Aes Sedai.

Adelle is a member of the Blue Ajah, and is rarely to be found in the White Tower. Only she knows why she travels the world so much as she does, her and her Warder Logan. They first met some years back in Tar Valon, Adelle found him to be strong but he needed something to live for. Now he has two reasons to fight on, to protect his Aes Sedai and fight for his hopeless cause.

At the present Adelle still travels the known world in search of the Dragon Reborn.

Character History:

Mariana grew up in the royal palace in Cairhien, where she was taught the Great Game early on. Her time in the White Tower only perfected her skill at that. She left the palace at the age of 16 with a servant to go to Tar Valon, where she spent 12 years as a novice and Accepted. She experienced the Aiel war from behind the shining walls of Tar Valon and it was there she was made aware of the birth of the Dragon Reborn, from an Aes Sedai who had the talent of Foretelling. Sadly the sister died on the spot, but Mariana made it her life's task to find the Dragon Reborn and guide him towards Tarmon Gaidon. To help him in anyway she could, to warn him about dangers that she knew he will face, to offer her services as Aes Sedai.

Mariana is a member of the Blue Ajah, and is rarely to be found in the White Tower. Only she and her Warder Logan knew why she travelled the world so much. They first met some years back in Tar Valon. Mariana found him to be strong but he needed something to live for. Now he has two reasons to fight on: to protect his Aes Sedai and fight for his hopeless cause.

About 2 years ago, Mariana finally found what she was looking for, in a small village called Emond's Field, in the area known as the Two Rivers.

Nynaeve

What we had:

Raina al'Doran - "Nynaeve"

Age: 26

Birthplace: Emond’s Field, Andor

Description: Raina is tall for a woman from Emond’s field, standing at about 5’7” tall. Her hair is long and curly when she lets it out of her braid, which is only when she’s brushing it. It is dark black in color. Her eyes are hazel and change between different shades of brown and green depending on her mood. She is slender and fairly pretty. She dresses conservatively because all Emond’s Field women dress conservatively, but she always wears something bright red with every outfit, whether it’s a scarf or a ribbon twined through her hair.

Personality: Raina is quite and laid back, though she has an aura of authority about her. She rarely raises her voice and prefers to act as a mediator rather than tell someone what to do.

Character History:

Raina al’Doran was born and raised in Emond’s Field, the daughter of Mari and Hal al’Doran. Even as a child, she displayed a skill for mediating disputes among her friends and among the younger children. Mari, the Wisdom until Raina was thirteen, mentioned this to the other women of the Women’s Circle and they kept a close eye on the young girl.

When Raina was thirteen her mother contracted a sort of wasting disease. It was not contagious, but despite the most heroic efforts of her replacement Wisdom, Kessa al’Dai, nothing could be done to save her. It was then that Hal started taking his daughter with him on long trips through the forest. He wanted to teach her tracking and woodsmanship, but he was a dismal failure at it. As Kessa al’Dai always said, Hal al’Doran was a useless, lazy drunkard who couldn’t teach a fish to swim.

Kessa was an older woman and realized that Raina needed more guidance if she was to be an effective replacement for her. She taught Kessa to cook and clean and embroider and sew, and it must be said that Kessa was a much better tutor than Hal had been. She picked up where Mari al’Doran had left off, and soon Raina was running her father’s household.

The Women’s Circle gave Raina permission to braid her hair when she was seventeen years old, and shortly thereafter she was betrothed to Ethan al’Tannon. A year after their betrothal they knelt before the Women’s Circle and spoke their vows. Ethan had built Raina a fine house on the outskirts of the village, right next to where her father lived. They moved in there together, Raina playing homemaker for two families as her father was incapable of cooking much more than porridge and stew and mending more than a broken harness.

Two years after Raina and Ethan married, Ethan and Hal went hunting in the woods. When they didn’t return after ten days, searchers went into the woods after them to find them. What they found was a dead Hal and a dying Ethan. Raina worked hard with Kessa to save her husband’s life, but to no avail. A fortnight after he was brought out of the woods, Ethan died. The tragedy ultimately claimed three lives, for Raina was pregnant at the time and the stress caused her to birth her baby early. The child was too small and only lived a few hours before dying. She was buried next to her father.

Raina’s health was also badly affected by this turn of events. It was over a month after her daughter’s premature birth before she could get out of bed, and by then she had wasted away to almost nothing. However, by the time spring came she was her old laughing self again – though people who knew her could see that she had been badly affected by the turn of events. Her face was still young, but her eyes held a great deal of sadness.

When Raina was twenty-four, Kessa stepped down as Wisdom and Raina was chosen by the women of Emond’s Field to take her place. She served the community diligently, and took Mili as her apprentice just as Kessa had trained her.

Book 9: Goes to Andor with Elnora and helps with the Cleansing of Saidin

What I've worked up so far:

"Nynaeve" - called Raina al'Doran - propose: Naeve al'Mara

Naeva al'Mara - "Nynaeve"

Character Information

Name (first and last): Naeve Al'Mara

State whether this is a Traditional or a Salidar character: Traditional Main Character

Age in Main Time Line: 26

Nationality: from Emond's Field, Andor

Appearance

Hair: Long, dark brown, worn in a braid

Eyes: Brown

Skin: Creamy

Height: 5'5"

Voice: Soprano; tends to shriek

Other: Slender, but well-endowed and pretty

Optional

Special Skills: Very good knowledge of herbs, has the AoL Healing Talent

Knowledge Weakness: ignorant of almost everything except herbs and Healing

Physical Weakness: none

Personality weakness: domineering, fiery temper, won't listen to advice, refuses to learn anything but Healing

Personality:

Very strong willed; intelligent but mostly thinks with her heart, not her head. She has a soft spot for the underdog, and is very protective of her friends or anyone in her care. She's passionate about Healing.

Character History

Naeve al’Mara was born and raised in Emond’s Field, the daughter of Mari and Hal al’Mara. Mari died of a wasting disease when Naeve was 12, leaving her in the care of her father. At the age of 13 she was apprenticed to the village Wisdom, Kessa al'Dai, at her own insistence - she wanted to prevent other people from dying as her mother had. Kessa was quite old at this stage and without an apprentice as the previous three had all died of a mysterious illness. Naeve displayed a prodigious talent with the sick, some would even say miraculous. However, she wasn't able to save her father either, when he fell off a cliff whilst hunting. Left an orphan at the tender age of 16, Naeve threw herself into learning to heal, to the exclusion of everything else.

When Naeve was 20, Kessa died of old age. Left without a Wisdom, the Women's Circle had no choice but to appoint Naeve to the position, despite her youth. Despite her bullying tactics, Naeve did quite well, most people tending to forgive her faults due to her proficiency in healing almost any illness. Her talent for predicting to the weather didn't hurt either. Shortly after becoming Wisdom, she took Elgwain al'Vereth as apprentice.

A short while later, a mysterious lady, accompanied by very dangerous looking man, arrived at Emonds Field. As wisdom, Naeve was very protective of her people, and is therefore not happy with the interest this woman showed in Jarron, Calder, and Bailey. Because of this, she kept an eye on them and when the woman, Mariana, left with the three boys, Naeve followed and eventually caught up with them. During their travels, Naeve discovered that she had the spark inborn and had in fact been channelling for years. Eventually she decided to accompany Elgwain to the White Tower and enrol as well.

Book 2: Elgwain, Naeve and Elnora, along with the BA MoN are sent to Falme on the orders of the Forsaken Mesaana. All except Naeve are captured; Elgwain and Elnora later escape and head back to the WT with Naeve.

Book 3: Was sent to Adelle (Moiraine) by Karana Majin to be used as a tool to persuade Jarron

Book 4: Returned to the White Tower and continued her studies there until Karana Majin was Deposed. Ran away from the Tower. (For reference, in the books she went to Tanchico to Hunt Black Ajah. But Naeve did not do this in DM)

Book 5: Went to Cairhien and was re-united with Jarron

Book 6: Remained in Cairhien hiding from the Aes Sedai. Was pissed off that Jarron was kidnapped and twiddled her thumbs

Book 7: Left to Altara to chase the Bowl of Winds

Book 8: Uses Bowl of Winds and participates Seanchan vs. Sea Folk battle in Altara

Book 9: Goes to Andor with Elnora and helps with the Cleansing of Saidin

I don't know if we're supposed to do this for our Main Characters, but just in case I would say Nana has an OP strength of 42 (effective, not cost) and skill of 42 too. I base this on the fact that the AoL maximum is set at 50, and comparing it to the Forsaken strengths the BT have up here (right at the bottom). Plus a great deal of thumbsucking :P

PS I kept it short and vague, because mostly I don't know exactly what happened (like with "Lan"). As long as someone knows how to play her personality and what she looks like, that should be enough for the few times she's whipped out to be played.

Egwene

What we had:

No bio, just this:

Mili Al'Taron aka Egwene (still a novice)

Book 3: Was sent to Adelle (Moiraine) by Karana Majin to be used as a tool to persuade Jarron

Book 4: Went to the Aiel Waste to learn Dreamwalking

Book 5: Returned to Cairhien with Jarron (who she could have actually be together with in DM *waggles eyebrows suggestively*)

Book 6: Obviously did not become the Amyrlin of the Rebel Tower. Instead she stayed with the Wise Ones in Cairhien

Book 7: As the Rebel Tower does not exist, Mili remains with the Wise Ones. It is useless to send her to the WT as she would never be respected there despite her strenght in OP. She wouldn't realistically make it to the Shawl in such a short time which limits her influence

Book 8: ?

Book 9: Could help with the Cleansing of Saidin

What I've worked up so far:

"Egwene" - called Mili Al'Taron - propose: Elgwain al'Vereth

Eldwene al'Varin - "Egwene"

Character Information

Name (first and last): Elgwain al'Vereth

State whether this is a Traditional or a Salidar character: Traditional Main Character

Age in Main Time Line: 18

Nationality: from Emond's Field, Andor

Appearance

Hair: Long, dark brown, worn loose now

Eyes: Brown

Skin: Creamy

Height: 5'4"

Voice: melodious mezzo seprano

Other: Slender, very pretty

Optional

Special Skills: Good knowledge of herbs, Dreaming & Dreamwalking

Knowledge Weakness: her training in the Tower was interrupted, so has only had basic knowledge of anything but Channelling, compared to other Aes Sedai.

Physical Weakness: none

Personality weakness: stubborn, thinks she knows best

Personality:

Intelligent, eager to learn, but does not listen easily to cautionary advise.

Character History

Elgwain al'Vereth was born and raised in Emond’s Field, the daughter of the local Inn-keepers, Brin and Maira al'Vereth. She was apprenticed to Wisdom Naeve Al'Mara at the age of fourteen, though she didn't show the latter's great talent for healing or listening to the weather. She was a very intelligent girl, though, and interested in learning anything Naeve (or anyone else, for that matter) could teach her. At the age of 16 she was allowed to braid her hair, and started to walk out with a local boy, Jarron al'Tanin. A few weeks later, however, her life took a different turn.

A short while later, a mysterious lady, accompanied by very dangerous looking man, arrived at Emonds Field. When the woman, Mariana, left with the three boys, Elgwain left with them. Naeve followed and eventually caught up with them, and after many dangerous adventures, both young women ended up at the White Tower as initiates.

Book 2: Elgwain, Naeve and Elnora, along with the BA MoN are sent to Falme on the orders of the Forsaken Mesaana. All except Naeve are captured; Elgwain and Elnora later escape and head back to the WT with Naeve.

Book 8: ?

Book 9: Could help with the Cleansing of Saidin

I don't know if we're supposed to do this for our Main Characters, but just in case I would say Elgwain has an OP strength of 39 (effective, not cost) and skill of 39 too. I base this on the fact that the AoL maximum is set at 50, and comparing it to the Forsaken strengths the BT have up here (right at the bottom). Plus a great deal of thumbsucking :P

Elayne

What we had:

No bio, just the info that she used to be called Kedirebeth Meralyan, which was changed to Elnora Trakand, and then this:

Elnora Trakand aka Elayne (still a novice)

Book 1: Met Jarron and crew in Shienar where she was visiting for her studies before and after Eye of the World events. If we really want to go with it, fell in love with the sheepherder in less than a month (ugh )

Book 3: Was NOT sent to Tear by Karana Majin and remained in the White Tower

Book 4: Remained in the White Tower until Karana Majin was Deposed. Ran away from the Tower with Raina. (For reference, in the books she went to Tanchico to Hunt Black Ajah which Elnora did not do this in DM)

Book 5: Went to Cairhien and was re-united with Jarron. Possible lovey dovey ensues (but Mili and Jarron would be so much cuter together)

Book 9: Goes to Andor to finally take the throne

Ok that's it. As you can see, I really ran out of steam when I got to Elayne

The only other thing I can tell you, is that we're considering the Bowl of Winds RP done (will still put up a thread about that, so keep your eyes peeled)

Help me please! Lol

Please note, these are just suggestions ^^

Mariana -

Knowledge weakness: Perhaps she thinks she sees all and knows thought process of all she meets, (this is leading from life filled with Daes Dae'mar) which leads her to be more secure in the world that she should be.

Personality: She is a strong and determined woman. Her life has taken her to the back of the back roads, and she has seen much on her quest to find the Dragon Reborn. Once she has given herself to a cause, she gives everything that she is into completing it or seeing it through. She will go to any extremes to achieve this, no matter the consequence. She often comes across as cool, or even cold, when dealing with people she deems she needs something from.

Nana - (not sure I care for this name) >.>

Eldwene -

These two need to be formed almost together...

Elnora

Personality weakness: Bossy, and can some time expect things to be done her way, which infuriates her when they don't

Personality:

A strong young woman. She is naturally curious, and wants to know about the world outside her palace, but does not always want to accept how "common" people live. She tries to see the best in people, but can be prejuice against them as well.

These are just ideas :P

How about Elgwain al'Vereth - very close to the original name and al'Varin is a bit close to my Amadine's last name of al'Varine.

For Nynaeve how about Nyna al'Mara? Again close enough to be recognised.

And for Elayne's personality weaknesses she is vain and self-important.

Just my 2c

*laughs* I definitely agree with the Elayne's personality part ;).

As for the Nynaeve name, don't we have a novice named Nynna? Would that get too confusing?

Still haven't had time to REALLY think about this *sigh*. Hopefully this weekend. Off the top of my head for Elayne:

Elnora:

Would being pampered be considered a physical weakness? Just curious. I mean, it would make it harder to her if she had to survive on her own. Hm...maybe knowledge instead? idk.

I would say she's naive about the world because of how she grew up. Naive and a spoiled. Certainly book smart but not street smart.

Is very connected to duty and propriety

Headstrong

Her way or the highway usually and for the most part she gets it

For all her faults, though, I would say brave. Stupid often, but brave

Deeply affectionate with those she loves

Good at Da'es Daemar

Ok, had a little time at work to look this over, and here's some more of my 2 cents *g*.

Moiraine/Mariana:

Knowledge weakness - (man this was so hard. I don't want to think anything bad about Moiraine! *laughs* she's like WoT's Yoda!)

*doesn't always see how she affects people

*looks wholly at the big picture sometimes ignoring the details

Personality -

*usually calm and detached

*extremely devoted, even willing to die for her causes

*is a big picture person (I know this is on here twice but I wasn't sure where it fit more)

*is extremely skilled at manipulation/Da'es Daemar

*Fiercely protective of her charges

*tenacious in her goal

*is good at reading people

Nynaeve/?

Not sure exactly how to flesh this out because I'm not sure how close/not close to the books this part is. This is what I wrote in any case:

As wisdom, Nyn is free to meddle in the affairs of Emond's Field. She noticed that Mariana took an exceptional interest in Jarron, (Egwene), Calder, and Bailey and thus kept an eye on the Aes Sedai. When the group leaves with Mariana, Nyn is furious that the woman took her people. She spends the day fuming and then decides to leave in the evening to catch up with the group. Once along, she becomes enamored with Logan (is this happening?) and at the same time realizes that she can channel as well and indeed already has. After initial reluctance, Nyn recalls an instance where she miraculously somehow healed someone on the brink of death. At that moment she realizes that she can do better for the world and her people as an Aes Sedai. Plus if she goes to the White Tower she can keep an eye on (Egwene) who obviously needs someone to look after her. Therefore, Nyn stays with the group on their travel and eventually makes it to the White Tower.

Elayne/Elnora:

I listed some thoughts above for her personality.

History: Elnora was raised from birth in luxury. As her mother was the Queen of Andor, her only daughter and Heir was never wont for anything and was often over indulged. Yet the life of the Daughter Heir isn't solely fun and games. Wanting to ensure that her daughter was as strong a queen as she was, (Morgase) acquired the best tutors for Elnora. From the time she was able to listen Elnora was taught how to act like a queen, how to judge things fairly, the history of her country, and the world, how to hold a firm hand without appearing harsh, and much more.

And yet her life was sheltered. The adults in Elnora's life kept her from seeing the true corruption of the world, from seeing any of the world actually other than what was in her books. It was this enclosed life that led Elnora to develop a sense of adventure and yearning to see the world at large. When her mother suggested (?) she attend Shienar to learn about leading a country from a different perspective, Elnora jumped at the chance. It was there she met Jarron, etc and became fast friends with (Egwene).

**staying away from the love part lol**

In Shienar, it is clear to Mariana that like Nyn and (Egwene) Elnora was born with the spark. She gathers a third 'wondergirl' and with a quick note to Elnora's mother they make their way to the WT.

*shrugs* like Limi said, these are just a few ideas.
