Minor ? from tFoH: How did Moggy know?

I've been doing my re-read (now in aCoS), but this tidbit had bothered me, and I tried to look it up tonight and couldn't find an answer. Apologies if this has been brought up before.

In tFoH, To Caemlyn, Nynaeve captures Moghedien in T'A'R, and after Moggy lets slip a comment about Rand, Nynaeve forces her to tell her about any threat to Rand, whereupon Moggy tells her Rand intends to attack Rahvin because he believes Rahvin killed Morgase.

Now, Rand had only found out the day before, from Mat. I think the room was limited to Mat, Moiraine, Egwene, Aviendha, and Asmo when the news breaks in "News Comes to Cairhien."

From Rand's PoV in the following chapter, "Choices", we learn that he meets with the clan chiefs about the plan, who see it as a matter of ji'e'toh. He also meets with a delegation of 50 Wise Ones, including Sorilea and the 3 Dreamwalkers (Amys, Melaine, Bair) about his obligations to the Aiel. In "Fading Words," we find out that Sulin found out about the attack from the leaders of the other societies that an attack was going to happen, though they did not say it was Rahvin (if they knew). Mat told Melindhra, but she never makes it out of the room.

So how did she know? Do we know for certain? Seems incredible that should would be regularly meeting with an Aiel in T'A'R who could have provided this information (Sorilea? A chief? A leader of a society?), and had only 1 night to work with. If so, the Spider (and the Shadow) likely still will know everything Rand/the Aiel do w/in a day.

Rand's dreams were shielded, as are Moiraine's. Egwene's perhaps? Moggy only recently noticed her. Mat's?

Lanfear says one of the other Forsaken was spying on Rand, and lists Moghedian and Demandred as options. Appears it was Moghedian. Though, that being said, this is listed a potential BUT due to the degree of the information. People suggest it supports one of the high up Aiel is a Darkfriend.

Amys is the one who gets fingered in that theory.

They're both servants of GLoD!

I was wondering that myself actually - just got to that part in a reread. Could possibly be Asmodean maybe? I dont remember if his dreams were shielded; Moghieden may have payed a visit to him. Mats dreams are shielded, so couldnt have been him even if accidentially. But yeah, high ranking Aiel Darkfriend does seem the likely option.

Well, Lanfear has fun invading Asmo's dreams and Moggy is just as accomplished a Dreamwalker. But the exact details of the raid and the target were also known by Amys - Avi told her the night before. Given that Rahvin had time to clear the streets round the palace and bring in trollocs and fades ---

Interesting that Amys was the original suspect. Has sentiment swung toward Sorilea since tGS? I'd think so.

I'd stick with Amys-Rhuarc etc, - there was too much hanky panky before Sorilea appeared on the scene.

As for the Aiel darkfriends, Sorilea is highly unlikely. The Aiel wise one(s) and Clan chief(s) who would be darkfriends would be the ones who stay close to Rand. Sorilea wouldn't really be helping the forces of dark as she rarely comes to Rand in person. Both Amys and Rhuarc have stayed close to Rand in the begining, also we have good evidence against Rhuarc considering the shadow found out that Mat actually blowed the horn of valere after Moiraine called him hornsounder in Rhuarc's presence.

Before TOM is finished, all WOs will be labeled DF;) By the way, I don't think Moghy is a dreamwalker.

You think she's in the flesh every time? I've considered this, but how did she toss Ms. Silver Bow; how did Nynaeve put a necklace on her, and then go find her in the waking world? She certainly can get in to the dream w/o the flesh.

She also refers to the ter angreal that puts aes sedai in the dream world half faded as "training" ter angreal.

Lanfear was just there, giving Berelain the note. I don't see any reason why she couldn't stay to spy on them when they got it. Just because they didn't see her, that's no reason to assume she wasn't there.

For that matter, Lanfear told the trio (Graendal, Sammael and Rahvin) that she could keep an eye on Rand undetected. I think it's obvious that this is how they knew what he was planning. And Moghedien used to spy on their meetings in tel'aran'rhiod, which is how SHE knew.

Brandon said that Elza was given directions (and other stuff) by SH. No reason to go looking for a different way in which she could've gotten the DB.
