I tried B&N too and it didn't like the proxy, but amazon.com took my pre-order and said it would be delivered to my (free) kindle reader, so fingers crossed no further country tests...

Not Exactly sure what time it is according to amazon, but I think that it'll be 1 1/2 hours yet (possibly only 1/2 an hour)

I have 8:16 in Iraq so 0100 in US right...has anyone gotten their prologue pre order yet?

No we haven't. Clearly Amazon is in a vast conspiracy to become the worlds worst ebook merchant ever

They're doing well.

Fish

To be fair to them they are also the only ones stupid enough to fall for me googleing a hotel's address in america, so IF I get my prologue in 40min time then I much prefer them to say B & N who informed me I lived out of the US. So I quite like their incompetence... (so long as they make no last minute realisation...)

Its not in the slightest bit ironic (or surprising) that the "explosion" in eBook (hardware) has resulted in a decrease in choice for the consumer. This is beyond a farce for me as I don't use Windows at home meaning I'm trying to get Kindle for PC working in wine on Linux just to be able to read an ebook that ought to exist in at least one non-totally-proprietary format.

I have it now! (3 min past) from amazon.com just find a vaild address they don't check where your connection is from!

Yup, I've just got it now having pretended to be here : (Some place I think i stayed at in Florida) :

3020 Maingate Ln # 3017,

Kissimmee,

FL

34747

I'm all giddy now... expecting a hell of a come-down in an hours time ;)

I find this so utterly annoying. Stop treating eBooks as something local. The internet is a world wide web. Stop treating it like it isn't. This only results in more and more people not buying the books but downloading the cracked versions. Release it, world wide, for everyone.

For those who want to get it on their IPad or Iphone or other related product.

I went to store settings. Change country to US, updated my details with the fake Florida address provided above (Cheers Paulie), also put in a fake phone number. Then purchased the prologue from Ibooks, Downloaded it. And then promptly changed back to Aus with all my original details.

I want to buy the prologue. I want to spend money on it. I want the author and the publisher to get money. I think they really earned it.

But I am German. So the publishers obviously don't want my money :o(

What I don't really understand is how the publishers can condemn pirate copies if they don't even give most of the world a chance to pay?

Stages to go through to get the book outside the US and Canada. (Works in the UK and would assume any other country that has amazon and kindle)

1. Set up an amazon account.

2. Set up a payment option with a credit/debit card (you need to put in the CORRECT address details for the cardholder.

3. download a kindle reader such as this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000426311

4. Install the kindle reader.

5. Change your country to the United States. https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/fiona/manage?ie=UTF8&ref_=sv_kinc_7

follow the link go to "your country" and put in a VALID address in the US (I used a hotel in New York I googled - remember you need to use a 2 letter abbrevation for the State, otherwise it doesn't recognise it as a valid address)

6. Buy the prologue. http://www.amazon.com/Distinctions-Prologue-Towers-Midnight-ebook/dp/B0040ZN3M8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=AG56TWVU5XWC2&s=digital-text&qid=1285087862&sr=8-1

Technically you shouldn't do 5. and use an address that you cannot be reached at but as this is only a delivery address for something that is downloaded electronically, so nothing gets sent there.

I'm afraid I'm going to be away from the internet for a while, but if you post any other problems you have people will try to help I'm sure.

The French and German Audible sites will both sell the audiobook to me, and I'm in Sweden. Didn't need to provide any made-up address or anything, my real address worked fine. And I saw the audible.de also have Way of Kings, which I haven't managed to get from the UK site yet, so I'm one happy reader now.

Guess I'll be a bit late to fall asleep tonight, since I'll be busy listening to the prologue :)
