  1. Hi Wert, Thanks for the awesome report. I will also write down my experiences if i think of it:) I think it was an awesome panel and i have been to a few wot panels. regards, Isabel
  2. I don't believe the 'detailed ending'. They said that Jordan left detailed notes but Sanderson confirmed that all of Jordan's stuff was max. a few dozen pages with many contradictories. They said that Jordan (on his deathbed) told them the ending, but there was no tape (!), so someone recorded his words with shorthand. Sanderson told us that he 1. did not touch the ending, 2. tinkered a little bit, 3. tinkered a lot, so I assume the 'detailed ending' is just a myth. There is a tape. On the first Jordan Con they let us listen to part of the tape in which RJ told us part of the prologue:
  3. I also haven't got a pin yet, although I sent them a message about it.
  4. I shared it also on Theoryland :)
  5. Hey bluecole, I think it's awesome you posted a blog with defense of the wheel of time :) I hope more authors will do that. And of course i hope you will nominate WoT for a hugo. Regards, Isabel
  6. I will definetly support WOT for the nomination:) And will visit world con if i am able!
  7. the sea folk used the BoW to keep the weather around SG from going crazy. And it could be that jordan had something cool in mind, but that it wasnt written down. So the build up was for something but couldnt be executed.
  8. I am honoured too:) the meeting with you and Linda in Melbourne was awesome! And you are awesome online too, even though we haven't interacted that much. Hope to still see you occasionally on the boards!
  9. Pfff, you can share a couch with me:)
  10. Exactly how I was thinking. Kind of surprised more people haven' t complained about it. It just felt so incomplete. If you had been following RJ, than you knew that he would never had written a huge epilogue with everything tied up. He wanted the world to be alive and he succeded in that. There are still a lot of things to discuss. We know he wouldn't have. That doesn't make it right. And again, I think it should be clear from our posts that we aren't aching for a Harry Potter-type epilogue where we know everything's okay and all questions are answered. A proper resolution winds you do

  13. I didn't like Androl. The role he got didn't feel like a wot character, especially this late in the game. The use of the gateways was more a Brandon feel, than a Jordan feel. He also did way too much in the books. Thankfully, i didn't get too annoyed while reading:) so i still loved to see the ending ;) and all the events RJ planned.
  14. I think and hope that last sentence was by RJ. Why would tuon and Mat have a romantic ending? Rj intended to write about their adventures, so it wouldn't make sense for tat.
  15. The voice is clearly not the DO, as Fionwe says. It's the Creator. I am not going to post quotes, but read page 431 and 453. It's clearly not the DO. And Cherubin: why did you hate the last scene of Mat?
  16. Mat's dead was by ravhin and not rhuidean. He was brought back by balefire. And it has been discussed, but most thought he was still linked. But it was an option.

  18. Sorry, I try to give away as little spoilers as possible. So I try to discuss things without giving away any new information.
  19. Above was also my question, but I have been thinking about it and come up with below two different answers. Firs answer: 1. When the DO isn't able to touch the pattern he exists primary as the existance of evil / opposite of the light. People can do evil things because they want to. (he doesn't influence them. evil exists, because he exists) 2. When the Dark One is able to touch the Pattern people are able to use his power directly to cause evil. They directly use evil power for evil purpose. 3. The Shadar Logoth evil was created by humans, who (quoste RJ)believed that they must d
  20. You have a problem with the abrupt finish? I didn't. It never expected RJ too tie up everything. RJ said so himself. I really loved the ending and one part really made me laugh:)
  21. I would like to add a few things to this discussion: - The critisms has really grown over time. When TGS was released there were a lot of comments that it was better than RJ's stuff. If the critism was simply a jealous reaction, there would have been much more critisism around that time. And there wasn't. There were only a couple of people. So I do think that a lot of people have come to realize things they like less in Bradons WoT books, than Jordan's wot books. - I am not sure that the errors and other critiques can be easily remedied. With the decision to split the book in three,
  22. One of my favourite scenes is 'A lily in the winter'. I also include the portion of the chapter before that when Rand meets Nynaeve again.
  23. I voted for Winter's heart as my favourite book, because of the chapter 'a lily in the winter'. It was such a brilliant chapter and i never laughed so much ;) But i actually liked all the books. I also really loved Crossroads of Twilight. So I don't really have a least favorite book, so it was hard to pick one. I decided to go with Towers of Midnight, because you do see some negative consequenses of the splitting of the book. ( i am not sure how they could have done it differently) I still enjoyed the book immensely.
