Why You Can't Make New Threads, and How To Request Them.

The Spoiler Board has been locked so that only Admins and Moderators can make new posts. I know this is a pain, but the reason is to stop spoilers in thread titles and repeated posts, both of which were a major problem last year on the non-spoiler board (the threads on Rand's sword nearly drove me insane). That fact is, simply, that our traffic gets so high around the release this is needed to grant the board any form of readability.

 

So to request new threads, simply post your request in this thread.

 

A few rules and pointers.

 

1. Please be clear on where you want the spoilers to be cut off at.

 

2. Please be considerate in phrasing your request even within this thread. During the Pre-release there will be people who might have read the prologue but not chapter one (should Tor release it). Therefore instead of going 'Can we discuss the part where Demandred turns out to be Elayne in chapter one', phrase it simple 'Could we have a thread on Demandred with spoilers up to chapter one'.

 

3. Have a look through what has already been requested. If the staff have said no to a thread we'll have a reason, abide that unless you have a very good (read: specific) argument as to why we should reconsider--and if that involves spoilers, PM the staff who responded. If the staff haven't responded to a thread request in at least two days feel free to prompt us again--we're human and we miss things.

 

Finally, during the Pre-release you may request a thread at any time, but when the book comes out we'll not create any new threads for at least a week. Instead, like last time, we will create threads for each section of the book. So it will be...

 

Discuss Prologue through Chapter 3.

Discuss Prologue through Chapter 5.

Discuss Prologue through Chapter 10.

etc.

 

Once we are convinced enough people have finished the book, we will re-open a thread requests. I will make very clear both when we are not accepting new requests, and when we begin to accept them once more.

What a about a thread to discuss advanced reviews of the book. I just read Leigh Butler's over on tor, and came here to see what people thought, but didn't find anything. And I assume Jason will have one out soon as well... ?

I had a thought concerning the changes that are occurring to building structures and such.

 

We all know from tGS that hallways are changing and rooms are disappearing.

 

Minor spoiler alert

 

From the prologue, we now also know that the landscape is changing as well. Galad mentioned crossing rivers and such that are not on their maps. grant it, the scouts were deceiving them, but I imagine that someone taught Galad how to read a map and it wouldn't have been terribly difficult to see that they were just in a different spot on the map.

 

My question being: when i was rereading chapter 8, the mention of all the firewood that is available for the Band to use for fires has sparked a thought. is it possible that the changes that are happening is caused from "the world's of 'if'" and reality merging? Like maybe in another 'world of if' (portal stones world) had the White tower constructed slightly different and it happened to be melded into reality because of the Dark One being able to affect the world. What do you think?

It's so great. Everything I hoped for and more. Wrote about it on the chapters thread, but then cut it again because someone might not want to know. Have to wait for an offcial thread. Who is the murderer that is ruling in Seandar, and what is the significants of this development?

 

I tried posting this in the 1st chapter thread, but the overwhelming discussion in that thread is focused on the positive changes in Rand. While I agree that the Rand portion of the first chapter was the most important, I would suggest that this this phrase was not just thrown out as a red-herring, but may have a big impact in the next two books.

Hi,

 

I'm a brand new member even though I've been reading the blogs before the new BS books since last year I, out of the blue, just decided to google the series in the hope that it would be continued by someone brilliant (although I held little hope of this actually happening even among my fave authors). Well to my surprise all my dreams have come true and I visit DragonMount when I can and have a good read (and a good laugh sometimes) at the theories posted.

 

Today after one such visitation, I've come up with a theory of my own about Mesaana's facade and how Egwene is wrong about it being one of three sisters she named in tGS. I'll elaborate when I see that the thread will be posted.

 

Thanks for all the hard work you do there at DragonMount, I've visited other sites for a different POV sometimes but I think that your site's organisation and layout is far superior not to mention the community.

 

I look forward to reading and discussing with you all in the future.

I can't believe I'm going to suggest this (given how hard I argued against Luckers on Rand being in Caemyln) but I was thinking of a thread discussing the lack of rats in the seven striped lass. Does this mean Melli can channel (and for some reason her wards work)/Rand is in Caemlyn ergo keeping sky clear and rats away/ Melli has one heck of a lot of cats...
