The Minister's face is carved from stone. His friend is dead, and he can feel the blade getting closer to the back of his own neck. He looks down at the faded Dragon Tattoo that covers his own hand and collects himself.

The denizens of The Hall have gathered today under the Arch, but not for a sentencing. The Arch is where justice is served, and this morning, The Minister will call forth an older code of justice. When he speaks, his voice does not boom with its usual timbre. It is quiet, and it cuts, and you think that you have never heard him so clearly.

"With the passing of Railon, I am forced to bring back an old code. As Minister, it is in my power to do so, and anyone who wishes to question that is welcome to challenge my steel. To the death."

There are no takers.

"There are only six days left until the election, and though several have already cast ballots, many have not. The Bova Perrada has been killed, and the Beva Perrada now goes unchallenged." He pauses for just a moment to gather his voice. "Is there another one among you who would take up the title of Bova Perrada? One among you who feels that the challeneg made by your predecessor was just, and that a new Minister must be named?" The Minister gave a grim smile. "And, now, one that is willing to show themself? I'll not have anymore of the secrecy that has plagued this election. The candidates will now name themselves, or they will facemy steel."

A murmur runs through the crowd and a many nod as they see a bit of the old Minister returned. There had been a day, when he was younger, when ruthlessnes was a must. And this Minster was capable, if not wanting, of the qulaity.

A group of Captains gathers among thmeselves and a few shouts are heard among them. Then silence. And as one, they turned to the Minister. A man walks forward.

"I declare myself Bova Perrada. I will challenge the Beva Perrada, and by the pwoer that gives me breath, I will be Minister and return The Hall back into the power that it once was."

You stare at the man, shocked. You've known him for a long time. The man who has declared himself Bova Perrada is Barmacral.

The Minister deosn't hesitate. He turns to the Beva Perrada, "Unmask yourself, or face my blade."

A Woman's hand reaches up the remove the headwrap. You are equally stunned to see who the Beva Perrada is. She is Talya.

The Minster turns back, now much more intense than he had been before.

Those are your two candidates. As Minister, I will enforsce the follwoing rules: They may not be harmed until after the election. They may not be caged or challenged.

THE TWO CANDIDATES ARE LYNCHPROOF AND KILLPROOF.

"You may not seek to learn anything about thier party, or their faction.

USING YOU COP VIEW ON EITHER WILL NLY REVEAL THEM AS A CANDIDATE.

"Our election will run up until next Monday at sunset. Your votes may be sent to me privately. On Monday evening, one of these two will become your new Minister."

Woah this just got to end game. Although i think there may well be more twists en route.

Holding for Hybrid's thoughts...(and no, aint voted)

I think we are in a normal day phase.  For now I'll vote [glow=red,2,300]No Lynch[/glow] largely because I have no idea for whom to vote.

Posted

I have no idea, what to do at the moment to be honest, I'm waiting for Wes to answer a question or two at the moment!

I could make a speech for the Monster Raving Looney party (and yes we have a politicval party named that over here) :D

TREACHERY!

Well, that seems ominous. And we have Talya and Barm as our candidates - I'm eager to see what will come from them now.

Explanation as promised.  I bombarded DPR with questions, and this is what I got.  My questions are copied word-for-word, if you want to verify them.  Brace yourself... monster post coming up.

Q: Is there any way for players in a mason group to have different alignments at the start of the game?

A: No

Q: Is there any way for players in a mason group to have different alignments at this point in the game?

A: Yes

Q: Is there any way for players in a mason group to have different alignments by the end of the game?

A: Yes

DPR then added that your alignment changes with your vote.  Which is why I didn't want anyone to vote even if they were in a mason group with a candidate, and why I wanted to know if anyone had voted yet.  I started to think that we could "test" a candidate out by having someone vote for him/her and then lynch that someone to see their alignment.  Unfortunately, I think the next round of answers puts an end to that.  Still, I'm bringing up the possibility just in case I didn't word the questions well enough.

Q: If an innocent player votes for the mafia candidate during the day and then is lynched, will their alignment show up as mafia during the coroner report?

A: No

Q: If an innocent player votes for the innocent candidate during the day and then is lynched, will their alignment show up as innocent during the coroner report?

A: No

Q: If an innocent player is chosen as the candidate, does that player become the innocent candidate?

A: No

Q: If a mafia player is chosen as the candidate, does that player become the mafia candidate?

A: No

Q: If two innocent players are chosen as the candidates, is one randomly selected to be the mafia candidate?

A: No

By the way, it should be clear where I was coming from with this.  I know for a fact thanks to this info that one of the candidates started the game as an innocent -- and no, I have not voted yet.  But that's it.

And then the kicker.  Ironically, it was Alys's post about the wine in front of her that gave me this idea.

Q: Is there some third option here (besides one candidate versus the other) that I'm missing?

A: Yes and PAFO

The rules specifically say two candidates.  But DPR's answer indicates our choice is NOT so clear cut.  Thoughts?

So what you are saying is that there is no more alignment upon death? I find that highly unlikely. There was a lot in there that I have trouble swallowing, but that was the thing that jumped out at me most.

Why not? It would make the Mafia candidate easy peasy to discover, as soon as we vote a Mafia and nk them, whoever they were pushing/voting for is most likely the Mafia candidate no? The Mod is not required to give us alignment upon death.

I asked Wes, if we could do a 'No vote' instead of voting for one of the candidates and he said that you have to vote for one or the other. I was thinking of we all had voted that then the minister would stay and then the town would win. But that doesn't seem like the third scenerio. So there is something else we can choose.

What I find confusing about the answers he gave Hybrid are the ones about how mine and Barm's alignment are worked out. It doesn't relate to how we started in the game, but it isn't chosen randomly. I'm wondering if this dead thread that Wes was on about is where they chose which of us is the mafia candidate. So whoever wins that ballet is the mafia candidate, and whoever wins in this one wins the game and the alignment is decided by the result of the dead thread ballot!

Ah ha, really? really really? Wes, your sense of humour is indeed a cruel one.

Just so you all know, I've been quiet and will continue to be quiet until tomorrow at least, as currently person putting me up has no Internet access, so any time I spend online is purely at Starbucks first thing in the morning. This should hopefully change by tomorrow, but may not be til the weekend.

Also, I hope my actions thusfar have shown that I am in fact the good candidate, and that the mafia candidate is Talya.

I'll be back with a scene, and we'll all progress nicely into endgame - but I gotta have a sandwich first!

What could the third option be?

That's what I am curious to find out.

I have an idea and I am going to see if I am right.

The third option is Xoc, and involves total destruction of every player. This will be a moral dilemma that a player will have to face. That player has not been chosen yet.

A gentle cough echoes off of the stone walls and all conversation stops.

Eyes are cast upon one another in the silence, and they are not friendly eyes.

A Captain rises from his seat and slams a fist down over the table...

"We're being set up! We were supposed to be the rising force, and now we have been made to look like fools!"

"That's absurd! We look nothing of the sort. Sit down, old man, and stop your blathering. Our candidate is as perfect as can be. You've no need to worry."

The old man eyes the speaker...

"That's easy to say, now isn't it.  But we're niot the ones protected by the Minister's declaration, and unless I'm mistaken, by the magic of his pet witches."

"ENOUGH!" Steel leaps from a scabbard and quicker than sight, is leveled at the old man's eyes. No threat was spoken. None was needed. The tip of the ISnta balde wavered just so, less than an inch from the man's eye. Then it was withdrawn as quickly as it had been brought forth.

"Know your place. Or lose it, along with your head."

The old man is silent.

Another voice echos through the chamber, this one slightly chagrined.

"They'll be precious little time for bickering unless we solve our problem quickly, and without the aid of the witches, I'm not sure how we are planning to do that."

Heads shook, and no solutions are offered. The same speaker cotinues...

"Gentlemen and Ladies, it was beyond bold to steal black bonestone in the first place. But for our thief to lose it in the Jenji attack, and for it to dissapear without a trace is unthinkable. To not report such a thing is treason. That stone will find it's own master and it will be used. When that happens, we will all wish we had never hatched such a plan." The speaker pauses. 'I don't suppose any of you has figured out how to solve our little dilemma?"

TODAY'S VOTE IS A NO LYNCH. IT IS NOW NIGHT 5. NIGHT WILL LAST FOR 24 HOURS. PLEASE TUEN IN YOUR NIGHT ACTIONS.

You have a good point.  I'm an idiot... the answer was staring me in the face the whole time and I asked the wrong question.

Q&A with DPR, part 2:

Q: If a player votes for a candidate, do they show up as a supporter of that candidate in the coroner report?  For example, if a Bonda Perrada voted for the Beva Perrada, do they show up as Beva Perrada in the coroner report?

A: Yes

Yeah.  Here's my theory.

Exhibit A:

JLM asked DPR about Finder results, and he told her they give faction or alignment.  I asked DPR about voting and alignment, and he told me alignment changes when you vote

Exhibit B:

- Barm claims to have viewed Alys as Bonda.  Alys makes a bunch of posts about drinking the wine in front of her.  Then she flips Beva (and scum).

- Aemon claims to have viewed Red as Bonda.  Dae claims to have viewed Red as Beva later.  Red flips Beva (and scum).

Exhibit C:

- Everyone who has flipped Bonda so far has been scum.  But not everyone who is Beva is scum.  Because I'm Beva, and I am definitely not scum.  You can lynch/night kill me to test it.

Oops, didn't finish my post and accidentally clicked "Post"

To continue,

My theory is that the game is simple.  The mafia all start out supporting one candidate.  I'm guessing, since all Bonda have been mafia, that they support the Bova.  But they know that when they vote, they change alignment.  So when Alys and Red know they're going to die, they vote for the Beva Perrada (their votes won't count anyways) to confuse us and place us in a WIFOM situation.

I think we should vote for the Beva Perrada.

Thoughts?
