Time to wrap up the results before moving onto the final ties of the 1st Round.

In a tightly fought tie, The Medallion Calls prevailed over The Battle by 4 votes to 3. Please note that I have changed the composer to the correct person now.

The 6th tie of the 1st Round saw an easy win for The Imperial March, as it laid some smack down on some Hobbits with a 5-2 victory.

The final 2 ties of the 1st Round are on the way.

Round 1, Tie 7

The Coronation from Stardust (Ilan Eshkeri)

This has all my favourite bits of the Stardist score in it and captures the main mood of the film really well.

Destruction of Home Tree from Avatar (James Horner)

This is a really emotional piece of music, and the scene it accompanies has occurred hundreds of times in the past and will continue to occur into the future. Trust me, I'm a geologist.

Round 1, Tie 8

The Blood of Cuchulainn from Boondock Saints (Mychael Danna)

Terrapin just likes the piece of music from the 1999 crime thriller film.

Ouverture from Le Grand Bleu (Eric Serra)

The music is supposed to echo the ocean, and the dolphins, and Serra absolutely nails it. There are other songs on the soundtrack that are better as songs, especially Hymn to the Sea, but this is the one that captures the spirit of the move.

And Blood of Cuchulainn from Boondock Saints also made it through to Round 2, with a 5-1 victory.

Round 2, Tie 1

The Blood of Cuchulainn from Boondock Saints (Mychael Danna)

Terrapin just likes the piece of music from the 1999 crime thriller film.

vs.

Riders of Rohan from Lord of the Rings (Howard Shore)

I just love the way this music flows, It conjures up the feeling of riding a horse and suits the landscape of Rohan and the Edge of the White Mountains, it backs onto.

Round 2, Tie 2

Duel of Fates from Star Wars (John Williams)

THIS is my favorite John Williams song, EVAR! He crafts a piece that, in my opinion, is beyond him. I'm not sure how he did it, but he truly broke the mold with this song. Such force, such clarity, such daring, such bravery, such action, in one song...it's incredible.

vs.

The Medallion Calls from Pirates of the Caribbean (Klaus Badelt)

This song epitomizes courage, honor, daring, and hilarity for me. I just love the scene with Jack Sparrow sinking with his boat. It's a short song, but boy is it good!
