Nobody wonders where I have been for the last few days then?? Or the next few??

*sighs*

Ah well, I might as well post every Bander favourite post!

*official spiel*

Welcome QueensGuard! An email explaining important information about the Band is currently sitting in your inbox! Take a read!

Basically, the Band of the Red Hand is the Travel and Music ORG at DM! By signing up for the Band, you have joined the successful Raw Recruit Scheme. By signing up for the off board site, you will be able to experience the whole process to the maximum! The new Executive Officer, F Horn of Valere, or I, will assign you to one of the three Regiments (Archers, Cavalry, Infantry) for a week, where you will be given various tasks to perform, hoping that you will get a picture of what time in each Regiment is like. After a week with each Regiment, you will be asked to pick your final choice of a Regiment.

While being a Raw Recruit, there is nothing stopping you from earning points like any other Band member. Points lead to promotion within the Band. Below is a list of possible ways to earn points:

- writing reviews on places to visit/holidays you have been on

- writing reviews on music albums and gigs

- replying to other people's reviews and asking questions

- composing Jak O' the Shadow verses

- getting articles published in our monthly newsletter, The Hornsounder

- monthly roll call in the Band's private boards at DM

- any DM project we may have (currently a Battle Project, so speak to Horn if interested)

- and much much more I cannot think of right now!

If you complete your time as a Raw Recruit within 3 to 4 weeks, you will get a special award (called the Raw Recruit Stripe) which you can add to your siggy as well!

While being a Raw Recruit, you get 4 free strikes. This enables you to break Band Law 4 times without being punished my the Redarms, the Band's own police force. If they see any Law breaking, they will either drag you up for a trial or give you a fun spot fine to do (usually 100 lines of something witty). Channeling is a major no-no in the Band. As is spilling Battle Brew, our beloved drink! Once you have used up your 4 strikes, or join the Band's ranks officially, you will face the full force of Band law like any other Bander does!

Of course, we are not all about working 24/7, as we do let our hair down now and then! We are famous for our bar brawls, which happen frequently! Expect one soon! We also like jokes, tales, funny pictures - things that will make us laugh!

We also have many games - at DM, which can be found in the stickies, and on the off board site as well! Also, take the lessons to learn our ORG Game, based on the luck of dice! You get the selected weapons of your division, and can fight anyone in the Band! It is currently being revised, but the ideas will all be the same!

If I have left anything out (which I expect I have!), do not hesitate to ask questions! Someone will be able to answer them for you!

One last thing...

*hands QueensGuard a Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew*

I'm not the newest person here! well, I haven't officially joined, but my spirit's in it! lol

Welcome, queensguard (assuming that's the name you want to be called... don't call me Drea Raylin... infact my whole name is Xandrea, but one guy started calling me Drea and it stuck.. ANYWAY (I ramble too much).) Welcome

*wonders if the scouts have an official drink*

*When she becomes a scout will declare it the "Body Shot"* ;)

lol I like you Drea  you're definately an Archer at heart hehe. But there aren't scouts in the Org Band here. You have to choose between Archers and Cavalry...don't worry though the best regiment isn't hard to figure out...*cough* Archers *cough*

Welcome QG! It's great that you have decided to join the band! *hands QG & Drea a Flaming Shot*

*chuckles*

I see Leane forgot to mention the Infantry...

Drea...we don't have a Scouts Regiment in the ORG side...when we started we didn't have enough members to warrant a 4th Regiment. With time, this may change. However, the Cavalry do have a rank called "Scout", so that could persuade you...

*pokes Corki* I don't think Leane forgot to mention the infants, I think she omitted on purpose :D after all they are infants and its the other regiments that have to babysit them all the time after all :P

Welcome to the band.

Anyway, the archers are by far the best regiment, and its not just because i'm one, although thats enough to persuade anyone in joining our regiment  . The archers are known for their pranks and the best regimental drink ever! We have the best members in our regiment and the most fun!

*passes Drea and QueensGuard a Flaming shot*

So drink up and have fun!

I am an archer yet my weapon of choice is dual dirks for close combat and I keep a brace of daggers handy. I do have a bow incase there are many many enemies and I am likely to require to dispose of lots before they get to me.

Actually, i don't know of too many ppl who used cav, or archers as Scouts.... The majority of the time they were infantry... Although some generals recognized that Cav, can move faster and report in sooner, but they lose the ability to remain undetected, And few generals would sacrifice their Archers as Scouts, because they would be needed as support to the infantry. And Cav for that matter... :) Besides! What good would sending an archer on scouting duty be? its not like they could actually shoot ne1... because that isn't the role of a scout, they could only report the sighting in... if they do that then they might as well be infantry...

Not neccessarily. Archers often have to remain hidden to protect there lives. This means that they can sneak around and hide well (supposedly). And if there is a time where the scout needs to take an enemy out quickly the archers can do so safer than others. But often scouts are a mix of all three divisions.

I like sneaking around

 Yes, but the point was, a lightly armored infantryman could hide just as well as an archer :P

And rarely is a scout called on to kill the emeny while scouting, as that would alert the enemy that something was up when their scout(if that's what he was) doesn't report in. But yes, should the need arise, an archer could kill the enemy the quickest, and safest way.

And like i said above, Scouting can be handled by all three divisions... But this post belongs in the Battle Room at the OSB...

I started a heated debate hehe jk

anyway, if scouts don't exist now wait three-four months and I'll have a whole slew of them! That's right! People will flock from the boarderlands to be a scout. (I did) :D

and thanks for all the back up. Scouts are different than any other, and they are the same as all of them. That's what makes them so cool. they're versitile!

Anydangway

Well pardon us archies! we'll just leave and let the enemy slit your pretty lil' throats! since we all know that you are helpless against anyone in close combat... :P

The reason we are "helpless" in close combat is because we are just so dam good that no one gets close enough to us for us to need close combat...besides we hone those skills with the Calvary and you Infants :D and you boys are such easy targets we don't get the opportunity to pratice with reall opponets

speak for yourself vork. I am a special archer. I like close combat. I lost a bet tho so I am an archer. I have come to like my prison tho.

And this was quite a good debate. I think that scouts are neither of any specific gathering but of all. Because all the skills are neccessary. But im just repeating myself in different words.
