Forshadowing

Just started reading the series again and in TGH I just noticed some slight forshadowing in a conversation between Moiraine and Siuan. They are discussing the consequences they face if their plotting about Rand is discovered by the White Tower. In reference to the two previous Amyrlins who were stilled, "Tetsuan and Bonwhin were kept in the White Tower as servants. Scullery maids, who could be pointed to as cautions as to what can happen to the mightiest. No one can rally around a woman who must scrub floors and pots all day. Pity her, yes, but not rally to her." Now I realize Egwene was never stilled, but she was made to scrub floors and take penance, and she was able to convince Aes Sedai to side with her. This may have been noticed before, but I am new to the forums and thought I would mention it to see if there were any other instances in the early books.

That is very interesting I never noticed that before. Knowing RJ I'm sure that, that was meant as foreshadowing. Usually he has a lot of small hints that you wouldn't even notice until you know what happens later.

They're probably right about the tGS board. I would point out in addition however that Egwene's been destined for the Seat since virtually day one. Min seas the white flame around her. Moiraine speaks of her sitting the Amyrlin Seat in tGH.

Also Siune sees her future in her own warning... wasn't she stilled as well?  I kind of read it that her warning became a self-fulfilling prophesy. 

 

Although I didn't catch the Egwene connection.  That's a good find.

Also when she went through the Accepted test, she saw herself as Amyrlin.

The possibility of both Moiraine and Siuan marring others, I saw that during my first time through the series and before reading Gathering Storm.
