Isn't It Reasonable To Think That Moirane Will Emerge Traumatized and Insane?

The doorway melting caused Moiraines bond to Lan snap. The only other instances where that happens-that we know of-is when the Aes Sedai loses the ability to channel.

So its an assumption then, if a reasonable one, and not confirmed fact. Is it possible that the bond 'snapped' because the two bonded were in seperate time/space continuum?

You're right, it is an assumption. My guess about the separate time/space thing, I dont think thats why the bond snapped because there is almost certainly another way there. Im not the expert though so I could be wrong, but I think whatever happened right on the other side of the doorway burnt out or stilled Moiraine, hence why Lan said she was gone.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that Moir has gone to another place, and with the doorway burning, any bridge to the Finnland was destroyed. Something to do with Moir being in another dimension or something.

Anyway, if it turns out it's just a location thing, and the bond hasn't changed at all in Moir's head, could she in theory come out and be bonded to Lan again? That would certainly anger Nynaeve.

Another theory, Moiraine purposefully passed the bond on to make them think her dead. Hrmm. Not sure why she'd do that, but anyway.

I think it unlikely for her to come back insane. It would just be pointless to throw such a silly compliction into the plot when there's already so much going on, which now has to be resovled fairly quickly. It would just slow things down.

It just seems to me that the 'snap' in the bond was a red herring to make everyone believe that Moraine was dead (the 'other time' that we've seen the bond snap), and since we pretty much realize now that she's not, the stilling is an assumption we all lept to. Nothing that we know of took place that would have resulted in her stilling - she wasn't drawing more of the power than she could handle, for instance.

This is definitely the subplot I'm most interested in seeing resolved... but then, I kinda got a little thing for Moraine.  ;)

More than likely she was stilled, but not from drawing on too much of the power....that would burn her out, which is different from being stilled- we still have no firm knowledge if being burned out can be healed. When you're stilled, you can still sense the power, you just can't draw upon it. When you're burned out, you cannot even sense it- its as if you were never even able to channel in the first place....

anyway, i digress. I suspect Moiraine was in fact stilled upon entering the door frame, simply because she was channeling while entering a TA. We have read upon many occasions that "nasty things can happen" when your channel at or around a TA without knowing what the consequences are. I also suspect that Moiraine will be the first Women to be fully healed by a Male Channeller (Might I offer up Flinn as a good candidate for the job?)

As it directly relates to this post, do i think she will emerge Traumatized or Insane?

not one bit.

I think emotionally and mentally she will be virtually unscathed. She's probably the most focused and centered person in the entire series and has more mental toughness than just about anyone (with the likely exceptions being Sorilea, Cadsuane, Amy, Bair and a very select few others that are arguably on her level in that area....) She's endured too much in her quest to see the Dragon succeed and i suspect that this will be the one beacon of light that she has held on to to ensure that she comes out virtually the same women that went it.

....in fact, i believe she will emerge from the tower, dust off her dress and immediately ask to be brought up to speed on everything that has transpired, she will take it all in stride, and then ask to be brought to Rand to continue her task at guiding him towards TG. (then, commence healing)

Tower of Ghenjei ring a bell?  ;)

And she went through the doorway in Tear with no funky side-effects.

Lan felt the bond snap. A bond can't exist in one person and not the other, nevermind the fact that she lost the ability to channel which, as we've seen with Leane and Siuan, releases you from the Three Oaths.

Moiraine did purposefully pass the bond on, but not in the way you're thinking.

As I understand it, for an Aes Sedai to release a bond, physical contact (or at least close proximity) is needed.

Moiraine had made prior arrangements for the bond to be passed should something happen to her.

Passing the bond on by itself would not cause ether person to feel it was sanpped. But the bond was snapped, Lan felt what he thougth was her death, though it was actually her being severed.

The idea that her being on a diffrent plane caused the snapping of the bond is not too far fetched. When she went into the other door way the door remained open, when the door was destroyed there was no direct contact between the worlds thus breaking the bond.
It is quite far fetched. When the doorway melted, the ToG and the other doorway both existed (and as Lanfear was held by both the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn, we know there is a connection between their worlds). Also, Verin disappeared from the world for months and her Warder bond wasn't snapped. Tomas was frantic with worry, didn't know where she was, but still bonded. The only things we know of that could snap the bond are death and severing, and we know she isn't dead.

No. The bond broke, and passed to Myrelle. If Moiraine can channel, or was Healed, she could bond Lan again, but the old bond is gone.

Yeah, Lemme say even I don't support my own theories. Just spitballing.

It would be interesting if she went into the doorway with some intent though, not just fell in and 'oops here I am', but went in with a plan. I wouldn't put it past her, she knew it was coming, and she's a clever lass.

Just exactly what she would do/plan to do, remains the question.

when she went through the door does any one think she got 3 things like mat did.  i just wonder what those three things could have been or what her price was.  Maybe her price was that she stay there and never attempt to leave on her own, knowing mat and thom were coming.  just a thought i had

About the ToG and other doorway still functioning, did I miss something (which is possible) is it ever stated that both the Aelfinn and Eelfinn inhabit the same ‘place?’  Is it not possible that there is two different places that are both connected to Randland by their respective doorways and the ToG?  When Moiraine fell through the entry way to the Eelfinn’s land, when the direct path was destroyed it severed the bond.  After which she was moved to the ToG for safe keeping.

When Verin ‘disappeared from the world’ are we sure she was not on this world or was her bond blocked by other means (being vague to avoid any spoilers.)

When Verin disappeared from the world, she was in a portal stone travelling to Toman head with Rand and co. There's no need to be shy about spoilers from The Great Hunt. And as I said, Lanfear was held by both, so their worlds must be connected. And we have no evidence to support the bond needing a "direct path" between Warder and AS. Surely this could have been hinted at at some point in the previous eleven books? That's why I think it's rather far-fetched.

Well what if the ToG is like a closed door and requires someone to open it. This would mean when the portal is destroyed there would be no connection between the 2 worlds and therefore the bond was broken. For some reason the idea of Moir being severed just doesn't ring right, as someone has already mentioned BrS doesn't need to add any more complications.
