Hurry up Mat

One of the biggest reasons I can't wait to read The Gathering Storms is for Mat, Thom, and whoever, to go to the Tower of Ghenjei and rescue Moiraine. I've been waiting for that moment to come for 6 books now, ever since she disappeared, so it better happen in this book. I do not want to wait another whole year for Tower of Midnight (scary name: Ghenjei is a tower) to come out. We have been deprived of her awesomeness for too long. Discounting Mat she is my favorite character (and maybe even counting him too).  Besides basically, her, Siuan, (I like Leane too I suppose) and Cadsuane (and I don't like Cadsuane) all of the Aes  Sedai are pretty ignorant and annoying (Egwene's cool, but she's the Amyrilin Seat, not an Aes Sedai) Plus, Moiraine is like a super Aes Sedai. She knows so much more than the rest of them and doesn't let her emotions run willy-nilly so easily.  If the Dark One confronted her, she wouldn't blink which is what separates her from of those prideful annoyances.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Sanderson has said that the first book will focus on Rand and Egwene, with the second book focusing on Mat and Perrin.

Well at least then the White Tower will be awesomized by Egwene in this book then? I don't really care who he focuses on because it's all going to be awesome. I just think that Moiraine being rescued should have priority. Or at least I want it to. We've waited long enough. Well, in book time anyway. I haven't much in real time at all, but that's irrelevant.

You actually think Egwene is cool? *shudder* Her character is the one I hate the most in WoT, arrogant b****, not even Elayne is as bad as her. Wow, felt I needed to vent that or I would explode :P.

Even if she is arrogant, she certainly has a right. And besides she's using her arrogance on purpose in order to unseat Elaida. Once she does, she obviously is going to be one of the best Amyrilins ever. Plus she's doing something that very few people would be able to do.

she is my least favorite character.  not even perrin and faile rank near her.  if i had a choice, i would rather the DO win than egwene.  The way that she orders that they all keep the 3 oaths is terrible, even when she knows it is killing them

I dont like egwene that much either, (Nynaeve is worse.) but thats why she decided to let the AS retire into the kin if they wish so they could live another few hundred years.

I wouldn't call her arrogant at all - I vaguely recall her having doubts about leading a force against the White Tower, and questioning whether it was right to not put the White Tower being whole first! That being said, they could be someone elses thoughts I'm not 100% sure :D

 

OT: Any focus on Mat is a good thing, whether hes getting drunk with a legendary hero ripped out of t'a'r, being dressed up in pink ribbons or in the midst of a battle! Am looking forward to ToJ - am interested to see if he takes Noal and if so, what we find out about him. Also, what will happen with Moiraine and Cadsuane, if Moiraine is successfully rescued. All signs point toward that being the case obviously, but you never know - who could have honestly guessed that Logain would be destined for glory prior to Mins vision!

I am also looking for to when Moiraine meets Cadsuane. The woman who is constantly flustering other people talking to a woman who is never flustered.  I don't really think Egwene is all that arrogant either.  I think that she is probably one of the least arrogant prideful people in the book.  Not only did she grow up in the middle of nothing except for farms and train with the wise ones, but the way she swallowed her pride when she was made Amyrlin and thought of by everyone as a girl puppet could hardly be called arrogant.

A focus on Rand and Egwene, that does not mean there would not be scenes of other characters.

 

I imagine some portion of the trip would be shown.

My emphasis added. Note he says adventures TO a locaion. I wonder if that means we actually get inside the tower, or just to the front door?

 

Also, while reading that review I put two and two together. Egwene features heavily, also Gawyn does some cool sword stuff.

I reckon shes been chillaxing ya know, maybe learning the Old Tongue from her captors, possibly even playing a game of Snakes and Foxes or two. They may have even let Moiraine have a sneak at other peoples memories, who knows!

 

I wonder if she comes out with Stockholm syndrome? Where the individual develops a bond with their captors... would make for interesting reading if a little distasteful! *disclaimer* That is of course if she is rescued!

The viewings that Min has had of Moraine simply haven't come true yet which puts them into the same catagory as many other veiwings. The only difference being that Min thinks it's wrong which it invariable won't be as Moraine is alive. This is of course what you meant but wrote it very poorly

Little FYI Amayahoshi, Moiraine already knows the Old Tongue.  I also think Moiraine is too stable to be affected by the psychological affects of the Stockholm syndrome. But it will be interesting to see what she knows and any differences about her when she is rescued.  Oh, and I don't think the Snakes and Foxes play snakes and foxes.  I wonder how that game came about though.  Someone who went through the ter'angreal learned a lot about the finns and then came back out?

The viewing about a dead women is that would fail without her.  We do not know at what he would fail at nor can we be certain of who would fulfill the role.  Nor do we know how the woman would fulfill it; that might play a role on who fulfills it (since people's abilities are different).

Like I told in other threads; for Moiraine to fulfill it, she would need to die then somehow come back.

As of now the only women that came back from death have been Aviendha & Lanfear/Cabriana.  Arangar might also fit.

For me, there's no point in making it more complicated. There's enough complication in this series. I'm voting for Moiraine's return. Whether she survives TG, who knows. But I expect to see her there with Rand.

Was an attempt at humor! Not sure Moiraine speaks the Old Tongue fluently, though I understand that she learned some given her upbringing in the Sun Palace.

 

And Seven of Nine, would you not agree that one of the motifs of the WoT series is that what you think you know is not always what is? Of course, Moiraine being rescued is as near a certain thing as there is, but I still feel I should spout out a fence sitting and desperate - you never know!

*sigh* I concede your point. While I'm (almost) absolutely sure Moiraine will come back and be at TG with Rand, I would be floating down the river denial if I didn't admit RJ couldn't have had something else planned, and Min's "wrong" viewing was a red herring.
