Newbie Mafia Game Over!

Well all of the unvotes in the world can not save to town's healer now.

A little note on the game. When I have usually played and the Finder has a mafia they will claim the role and say they have a mafia (they DO NOT claim if they have an innocent.) I have played in to many games where the finder had a mafia and kept quiet and then found another and then got night killed and didn't give the town any info. The town lost and the mafia won (what a surpise)

This is a newbie game so we are talking about basic roles, and no twists as you get with some of the more advanced games. Yes people do counter claim, but that is the nature of the role.

There is no point being finder throughout the game and never revealing your role, and what you have found, you are then as good as any other townie, unless you are good at twisting people to vote for who you have found out without letting them know, risky buisness and chances are slim!

I was waiting for all people to look in and vote or at least say something, so that we knew that everyopne had seen it, then we would have known by the votes which was the finder. However if a mafia should come in a vote on Peace say, does that mean that Dragon is innocent still. No it doesn't. Thats why I was waiting for a claim.

The Finder could have easily gone with someone else. At the end of the day we would be getting a mafia today or tomorrow, so they may feel to try and see if someone else is too. If they strike it lucky we would be quids in. It is not the position of anyone but the finder to decide who they view. So I'm not putting it past any scenario to have taken place.

I'm more than certain that Dragon is mafia, but I would rather save the healer just incase I'm wrong by having the correct info. It would give the finder at least one more night to find a mafia, maybe even more.

Talya, thank you for the information. I'm sure our finder is benefiting from this conversation. One thing, though. It seems to me that as long as the guilty person investigated is clearly getting lynched anyway (let's assume, for a second, that Dragon was investigated and turned up stinky) it would be best for the finder to stay anonymous. Why reveal yourself if things are going your way? Then you get another night to investigate again, without the healer having to choose. That makes sense to me, at least. Where are the holes in my logic, if there are any?

Maybe I just think too much, but I really want to understand all this. I love these games!

And, Dragon, how can you call my logic mafia logic? It's just plain common sense. It's very likely that one of the two of you was investigated, and the finder either voted or didn't yet. Unless it's my opinion that they did vote that has you (understandably) upset? At any rate, the town will see very shortly which of us is mafia, won't they?

Oh I agree Lily if they can get a free mafia, it would be good. I was thinking someone would come in to confuse things, and it may have given us a clue who maybe the finder could next target. lol.

If anyone had come in on Peace apart from Dragon, and dragon is guilty, they would stand out like a sore thumb. It could be out of those that haven't come in, that there could be a mafia there. But I wouldn't be surpirsed if one of thme is also on Dragon's lynch. Depends if they thought about trying to hide on his lynch or not. :-\

ACK! So much happens when you're away from your computer!

I will be back and active tomorrow, and then again on Thursday (I'll be mostly without internet access on Wednesday).

I just wanted to say that from my reading, Pete has really sloppily tried to avoid being lynched, and has failed. I don't think he put much thought into what he was saying, and so he had to "wiggle," as Lily put it (;)), to try and salvage himself when his mistakes were called on.

I guess since the hammer vote has been made, I don't need to vote, but I will anyway.

I heartily believe at this point that [glow=red,2,300]Dragon[/glow] is mafia.

By the way, Green Shirt says he'll be back soon. :D

I am honestly a bit surprised that I'm still here. I don't expect to make it through another night, so I'm sharing what I've got now. My questions were pretty clumsy, I now realize (the curse of being new....I did my best) so nobody will be surprised at my reveal. Yes, I'm the cop. Night one, I investigated Dragon, and, as I said, didn't think I needed to reveal, since he was getting lynched no matter what. Last night, I investigated Rose, because she didn't vote for Dragon at all day one, but did on day two when it was obvious that he was getting lynched. It looked like she was saving herself from suspicion. Well, I was wrong. She's clean. That's all I've got for you, unless I survive the night and can investigate again tonight.

If so, I plan to investigate Midori, based on this one post. It doesn't sit well with me.

I really think Peace is mafia.

1) Why else would he want to see the healer lynched? Of course he can say, I didn't believe the claim, and I was only looking out for the town.

If you are lying, the most you can gain is one day, and what's the point? You're a better player than to pull something that transparent, so I believe you.

After reading 4-5 pages ( O_O ) all I can say is that these are the reasons why I think I can trust Dragon's judgement.

Besides, I really have a hunch feeling that [glow=red,2,300]Peace[/glow] is Mafia, so there you have it.

I am open to your input, and could change my mind on who to investigate.

Okay, mafia, time to counter claim. Then I could change my mind on who to investigate, or maybe the town will save me the trouble and just lynch you. You are welcome to try to destroy my credibility. Dragon certainly gave it a good try. I don't think it worked, but I've been wrong before, and undoubtedly will be again.

I probably shouldn't have revealed. I'm not very good at this yet. It's my hope that by revealing I might be protected tonight and get to investigate again. I really expect the mafia to be targeting me because I'm so mouthy....lol. Let's say direct and to the point. That sounds better. ;) I've raised teenage boys. BS doesn't confuse me for long, and I'll tell you straight up it's a pile of smelly garbage. That makes me dangerous, even without a role.

Since I was wrong about Rose, my next likely candidate for mafia is also [glow=red,2,300]Green Shirt[/glow] (other than Midori) so I'll jump on this bandwagon with you, Pale.

I have noticed he has been listed as online a few times in the last day or so, but has not posted here, for what that's worth. I wonder if it's a case of us kicking over the anthill by lynching their leader? It's a theory, anyway, and worth running with until I get a better one.

It would make sense; I mean, Pete was one of the more experienced players, and he was likely directing the mafia with his experience. After all, in this game, it's good to listen to the more experienced players, because they can teach us and can think of things that we might not have thought of before.

I know that Pete wouldn't have wanted his mafia buddies to follow him blindly, because that doesn't help them any in the long run, but it is very much a possibility that whoever is left of the mafia is unsure of what to do or say, now that they've lost their coach.

I'm working off of the assumption that there is only one non-newbie mafia (Pete). If someone else who's experienced is a mafia, it will be difficult to go up against that.

At any rate, the points Pallet (APTL) makes are good ones, and I'm keeping my eyes open.

I'll go with this, turn it into a bandwagon vote, and [glow=red,2,300]vote Green Shirt[/glow].

I do have a question, Lily:

So, are you just voting for Green Shirt because he's on your suspect list and already has a vote on him? If he didn't have any votes, would you be holding off or voting for Midori? Or are you maybe more suspicious of him than you are of Midori?

I'm just curious, because you were saying you were going to investigate Midori next, so it seemed like she was highest on your list. :) I hope I didn't misunderstand!

In case you need reasons for me to not be mafia. If I was Pale would be dead and I'd have led the charge to lynch dragon remove any possible suspicion of me being mafia.

I think talya is mafia but I'm leaving my vote on pale.

Meesh just wants revenge.

Meesha, according to my excel spreadsheet (yes, I'm that anally organized....lol) I had three mafia suspects listed as my main ones. Rose is now crossed off, so that leaves Midori and Green Shirt. Honestly, I don't suspect one more than the other at this point. So, whichever doesn't get lynched gets investigated tonight and hopefully, lynched tomorrow, and that wraps up the game. (In a perfect world, anyway.) It's a gamble, but this whole game's been a pretty big gamble, and I've done okay, if not perfectly, so far. And if I'm wrong, we move into secondary suspects, if I live that long. *grinz*

And I'm also working off the assumption that Pete was the only very experienced mafia. I thought maybe a somewhat experienced person (Rose) might be on the team, but now I'm inclined to think two newbies. But only a few of you are in the "not very likely at all" category on my spreadsheet.

That's nice and all, but here's my response. First of all, saying that if you were mafia then Pallet would be dead proves nothing. You have to factor in the Healer, first of all, who could choose to protect Pallet. No one died last Night, so how do we know you DIDN'T try to kill him, and that Peace didn't protect him? Secondly, you could have argued for Pallet's death and your mafia crony didn't think that was a smart choice, so you guys tried to NK someone else.

Now, on the other hand, the night did end rather quickly, and that would point to a more active mafia member. Lily pointed out that she's seen you online and not posting, but I don't know about recently. At any rate, I am going through the arguments here so you see that what you said above is not good enough to completely clear you.

As for the lynch on Dragon, why would you have led the lynch on him to remove suspicion from yourself? Up until Pete started really bumbling, it was a close call as to who the majority would believe (Peace or Dragon?). If you had led a charge against him, you would've had to have provided good reasons. After all, other people provided reasons but that still didn't do all the convincing. Focusing on Pete, when other people stopped believing him, would've been a good idea, if you were Mafia, I give you that. AFTER he was lynched, it totally would clear you. But you can say all that--you weren't here, so we'll never know for sure, will we?

First, why do you think Talya is Mafia, and secondly, if you really do, why aren't you voting for her? We want to kill the Mafia. This is more serious than the Darkfriend Hunt games at DCon. If you have a reason to think she's mafia, then you should be focusing on her, unless you believe Pallet is too.

Okay, that makes sense, Lily. :D I'm nowhere near that organized about the Mafia games, but I know it definitely helps people out. ;D

It seems like you have a good method going here, and it seems like you're taking nothing for granted. So far, from watching you play this and other games, I think you have a real knack for Mafia in general. :D

Hopefully your suspect list is right, and hopefully we can end the game soon.

Also, for real, I agree with Pallet that you should've waited to reveal until later, when you had better information to share. You could've shared your suspicion of Midori without revealing. :)

Because now, assuming that you and Peace aren't working together as mafia (doubtful, peace seems very experienced and therefore not likely to be mafia), Peace will have to choose who to protect. He could protect himself, because the Mafia might try and take out the Healer, but on the other hand, the Finder is dangerous to the Mafia, and they might try and take you out. Who knows which way Peace OR the Mafia will go tonight? There's also the possibility that any of us unroled players will die at night instead.

I understand you know all this already, Lily, I'm mostly just trying to spell it out for others who may not see the dilemma the early reveal has created. Just trying to be helpful where I can, which isn't much. :D

Meesha, when I said I saw Green Shirt online, I did mean recently - since you got back from D-con. If Green Shirt is mafia, he could very well be active, just not on this thread.

And you're right. I shouldn't have revealed. I just felt that it was already pretty obvious, especially to the mafia, from my questions, but maybe not. And, even though it's not mafia, at least I did have some bit of knowledge to give the town. At least there's one less suspect. In a game this size, that could be useful, I guess.

Green Shirt, you're going to have to do better than that at defending yourself to get me to vote elsewhere. Nothing you've said has impressed me yet.
