Galina Casbans lies desturbs me.

When Gaul and Neald kidnap Galina near Malden, she tells Perrin, Berelain and Arganda a false name, and they KNOW she is lying.

1. Everybody KNOW that Aes Sedais CANT lie. This (they know she is a Aes Sedai, her face proves that)Aes Sedai is lying right up in their faces.

2. Ok, they know that she can lie, why do they trust even 1 word from her if they know that she is a lyer? A Aes Sedai who can lie is a DF or a wilder, but they still trust her.

 

This disturbes me alot.

Didn't she say "you can call me...". Not "my name is...". So even if they suspected that her real name was something else, she hadn't exactly told a lie. Just twisted around the truth - exactly what AS are known for.

Ok, i did listen the swedish translation of WoT, and im pretty sure that she answer "my name is". Why should even Berelain think that she is lying otherwise? "You can call me" is a way to say that its not the real name.

I could check it out and write exactly what she is answering, but im pretty sure that she answer "my name is", or only her name.

I can be wrong though.

English version:..."You may call me Alyse.". Swedish version:..."Ni kan kalla mig Alyse.". Same thing. Berelain smiles as if she understood her real name was something else (Galina's own point of view). But no outright lie.

Besides Perin is use to traveling with Aes Sedai who give false names.  Perin doesn't care about trusting her or if she was lieing if it would mean saving his precious Faile.

her lies and betrayal didn't save her in the end in any case.  I think she got her justice...death for the Black Ajah seems like such an easy way out especially when they can just be recycled.  In this, Galina who is a powerful figure in her own right as a Darkfriend, becomes a servant for Therava, unable to channel or even escape and completely broken.  Excellent.

It is not technically the same. Alys and Alyse could spawn from two completely different things or could just be RJ's way of throwing us into a dead-end 100-mile long alley.
