No # 8 **Big RP** (Closed) - The Guardians and The Servants of All.

Covai is taken to see the Amrylin. (with the moral support from the others who have come along and don't have to say anything --- thanks guys) Covai starts to inform the Amyrlin of what has happened, but before he gets far the Amrylin sends for some other AS by name. The Red Sitters and Zarinen have already arrived and get escorted in, followed by the others with Covai (to even out the numbers),

In front of the assembled Aes Sedai, Covai informs them of all that has happened, from the Fall of Sheiner, to the Fight with Brent to the Dragon's orders, to the fact the Shadow has male and female channlers working in unison. Covai holds nothing back, even about how badly the Black Tower was beaten.

Covai then proposes collaboration between the two towers, not as a political move, but as one that needs to happen. He reminds them not only of the needs to be able to combat full circles of channelers, but of the true meanings of Asha'man and Aes Sedai. He pleads with to Tower not just to think of what is, but what they are meant to be, Servants of All, and Guardians of All.

They Amyrlin admits what a fine idea it would be to work together, but that Covai must understand that for 3000 years AS have been very wary of men who can channel, blah blah. Of course, the Red Ajah have more experience with such men than any of the other Ajahs. Reds might consider … oh … bonding members of the BT. That would help form better relationships. The Reds ARE the largest Ajah, so plenty of them around to help expand circles and such.

To their surprise Covai accepts the bonding of Asha'man as warders with little hesitation. To their ire however he also demands that Aes Sedai are bonded to Asha'man as well, so that the power isn't held purely by one side of the tower.

Okay Elgee/Jaydena, this is the one we've discussed the most. Did you two want to put your thoughts up here first?

planning the rp

Covai:

So Covai is worried about the bonding thing, his biggest worry is that higher ups, would not be likely to bond Ashaman. He thinks that if we went by the books, that they would probably allow the less influential ladies to bond and be the scapegoats. That perhaps they would want to make sure that the taint does not affect them or circles formed before they are involved. Thoughts?

Response:

There ARE almost no "lower level" Reds. We have the Amyrlin (who technically isn't a Red anymore, but for the sake of the cause will be), the Keeper, The Highest, 2 Sitters, and only 2 others who have said they're not really interested.

Any way, the Reds would never "sacrifice" lower level AS that way. They wouldn't ask them to do what they themselves aren't willing to do.

Going by the books it is the 'higher ups' who are being bonded (The Keeper, a Sitter, and what looks very much like some influential others).  Our folks who are interested are pretty much an exact reflection of how it happens in the books, with the exception of the Amyrlin.  And if the book Reds had still trusted Elaida, she probably would have been involved as well.

Proposed plan of action:

As for RPing out the dialouge, its probably easier to start with the introduction to the Amrylin's chambers (or wherever ) on the WT side. That gives us BT boys something to work with since we're in your territory.

I'd like to keep things as natural as possible (each side posting after another), so the main thing here I think we need to be careful of is RPing the other's reactions to offers/counter offers. I think perhaps having each side insert their reactions into the other sides posts might work here. It will let individual post still appear whole, and avoid clashes, since each person will have written their own responses

Okay, I'm not sure if that made sense, so i'll bullet point it.

1) Each side writes their post, dialoge and and all

2) The OTHER side inserts some of their character's response(s)

3) The final post (now written by both sides) can now be posted by the player onto the message boards.

It will be right after Covai's speech that the Amyrlin will show all of the BT boys the ter'angreal from the Brother's Keeper RP.  She wants them to know what they are getting into before they agree to anything.  She will be surprised to hear about Brent, since it was with him that the original treaty with the BT was made.  She will also reaffirm the treaty with Covai and Arath.

She will agree to allowing bonds between the two Towers, or at least not forbidding it.  However, she will explain that as Amyrlin she cannot make any sister bond a man who can channel, or any other man for that matter.  And likewise she cannot make an Aes Sedai agree to be bonded by one.  Each must choose for herself, because Warders are the business of the Ajah and the individuals involved (no telling off Asha'man for Aes Sedai like in the books).  If any Aes Sedai wish to enter into a bond, she will not forbid it.  Any consequences will be for the Ajahs to decide.  As a token of good faith, she will agree to take a Warder from among the Black Tower delegation.

Asha'man who are bonded by or to any Aes Sedai may enter and leave Tar Valon freely, but they are expected to obey all laws of the city while they are there.  Any transgressions will be handled first by the bondmate in question, then by the Amyrlin and Hall if necessary (the message being, we trust you, but not too far).  The Amyrlin will reluctantly agree to the same rules for Aes Sedai at the BT.  Neither side is permitted to sentence another's member to the death penalty, and will instead turn the offender over to their proper Tower for punishment (this being important if an Asha'man goes noticably crazy and the BT has to deal with it, since they consider gentling to be a death sentence.  basically, the WT can't gentle their Warders :P).

I think the plan was that Covai (or someone with him) wanted to open a gateway to somewhere uninhabited that they knew, but made a slight mistake and it opened in a garden/courtyard in the Tower itself. One that just happened to be occupied by a bunch of Reds. And also by luck, he managed not to slice a few AS / Novices in half. The Pattern weaves as the pattern wills  ;D

Or in other words: this is fiction - lets not get bogged down trying to explain every little detail. In the future, once the gatemaker's pants have been cleaned, there will be assigned travelgrounds. :D

i wasnt meaning for this rp i get that plot, i was meaning in general since the tower has known traveling for some weeks or months? now...where is their designated travelground, as i am fairly sure that would have been resurected fairly quickly after discovery to not have the whole city randomly taken a piece ...ie asumable one should already exsist... the grove? a own designated garden? (basicaly i am just curious :P)

Muir, did you have a link or summary of the orignal treaty? As we discovered from the other thread there seems to be a bit of misunderstanding of where the two toers are meant to stand at the moment.

As for where the BT opens the gateway at Tar Valon.........well thats one that we screwed up  :-\ (IC wise that is :P) The BT is supposed to open the gateway outside of Tar Valon and ride in so as not to appear to be sneaking in. Unfortunately they mess up the aiming of the weave and accidently open it up into a courtyard in the White Tower grounds. To complicate matters they are spotted by Reds who happen to be there when the gateway opens. The black coats make it kinda obvious who they are, so since it's too late to close the gateway and pretend it never happened they opt to just go through.

If you want to jump away and take the blame for the BT's mistake, go for it!  ;D

For clarification, the Black Tower has been travelling since we learnt it from Jarron (or more technically, the forsaken bard with him at the time) after the fall of Tear. There is also a designated area at the Black Tower for Travelling as well. No idea what the White Tower has in place though :P

From the summary you posted, the treaty announces the equality of the Black and White Towers, and messengers were sent to every court to announce it.  This being done so that he treaty will outlive the current Amyrlin (which turned out to be a good and important thing), and be too public for the Hall to back out of later.

I was working off the assumption that Shevara, as Amyrlin, would keep to the treaty.  That being the case, she will acknowledge and reaffirm the treaty with Covai and Arath when they are there, since Brent is dead, and those two are on the new council that will be formed (and I assume included in the summary of events that Covai tells her).

to answer Liitha's question: I have no idea about Traveling for the WT - I keep forgetting it's actually known  ::)

No-one's mentioned it in RP's since I've joined, though it WAS used in the Watchers RP, from what I can recall.

Muirenn?

I'm not aware of any official travelling yards in the White Tower.  I agree it is probably something that should be done (designating an official area).  In the Watcher's RP, we just used a stableyard.  The other RPs I've seen have been similar, the sisters go get their horses, and then Travel from the yard.  I assume that many sisters probably also Travel to and from their own apartments, in the interest of privacy.  Most Ajahs would probably set up an empty set of rooms within their Quarters for the purposes of making Gateways.  Given the nature of privacy/secrecy surrounding the Aes Sedai and Ajah business, I think it's likely.  As of yet, there hasn't been the need for any huge Gateways to transport a large group except for the Watcher's RP.  I would think that once it becomes more customary to be receiving visitors via Gateway that official Travelling grounds would be set up quickly.
