Rand never claimed a man was sexy. He was pointed out when he thought another man was decently attractive, which doesn't imply he is homosexual at all.

The pillow friends deal wasn't very obvious in the series, until we came to a particular scene with some sea folk people talking and that more or less made it very clear.

I was so confused about this that I posted a separate topic on this, where the final conclusion was the the term 'pillow friends' in the WoT refers to homosexual relations among members of the female gender.

I agree that we have several references that obviously show that some "pillow friends" clearly dabbled in homosexual behavior BUT there are quite a few references as well to other characters that we know of and have many POVs for, that in those POVs they exibit not one single thought over the total span of all the books (Plus "New Spring") of ANY homosexual tendencies.    In fact the two main characters that I am thinking of "Moraine and Suan" have each only shown a "fondness" for one specific man each.

So "to me" it is clear that either "pillow friends" means more than a friendship that MUST include homosexual behavior, OR when some characters in the books have used the term they are making assumptions that might not actually be true.

I don't think Rand is homosexual. I mean, he would have to ditch three women, because he just found out he's gay. Ehh, lol.

Anyways, I still think my idea for a pron movie is great.

Three girls at once is a front:

  ;) ;D :D

I'm confused by your wording, but I think you're saying that we have point-of-views from characters who have been a pillow friend in the past, and they don't ever think about it. If that's what you're saying, my argument is this: What a person doesn't think about isn't evidence of anything. They didn't think about it because it didn't come up, a person doesn't go through all of their memories every day. Even if Moiraine thinks about Suian doesn't mean she'll think about their past sexual relationship, especially if that relationship ended without incident when it was no longer necessary.

Also, I believe RJ said that "pillow friends" was a slang term only used in the White Tower (and by White Tower affiliated people). I could be wrong that he said this, but I'm pretty sure it was in his explanation about pillow friends. So two random women who have never been to the Tower wouldn't use the phrase. That, and the fact that we don't have as many male point-of-views in situations where a pillow friend whould help them cope, would explain why we haven't seen many gay men.

HAHAHA.

Who is the 'him' here? Please don't say moridin

I don't know if Moridin was introduced to us then. It might be Sammael but I'm too lazy to go back in the books and check.

Im sorry for being a guy, but I just don't like thinking of guys playing with guys.

Just a thought, but how is your not liking thinking of guys playing with guys 'being a guy'? I mean in the gramatical sense--after all if 'being a guy' involves not liking guys being with guys, then guys could never be with guys, since they would by definition therefore not be guys... would they not?

Just a thought.

I agree with cockta on this.

i think if Rand turned out like that it would change some tings. =p

Mmm. For starters he'd have to rethink all the lace he wears. That'd just be way too obvious.

RJ confirmed that Siuan and Moiraine had a lesbian relationship--such as it was. We must remember that in this culture there are no taboos on same sex sexual relationships. In our culture to act in such a way involves such heavy social implications that it cannot be treated lightly, but historically we know that there was an entirely different form of sexual interaction involving just friends--a style of sex that is completely missing in our society, even with the idea of 'friends with benefits'.

This wasn't about sex, this was about friendship so close that they can share such things, and it doesn't nessasarily involve being attracted to the same sex.

You should be aware of that distinction--Moiraine and Siuan, for instance, seem to have little sexual attraction to each other or women, yet there are other characters out there that do. Galina, for instance.

Pillow friends is a very apt term, speaking of something currently unknown in our society.

In regard to my earlier quote, I forget who it was referring to. :P  Definitely not Moridin, though, because it's from TFOH.  I'll look it up later today, when I get home from work.  I'm thinking Couladin, though.  It's funny what you can do with quotes out of context, though.  :D

Wasn't Moiraine pissed off at Cadsuane in New Spring for saying she and Siuan were pillow friends?

As for gay men, Galad's the pretty boy, and he joined the WC because they shared his ideals. You do the math ;).

Yes. She was also embarressed when Cadsuane started speaking about men in a sexual manner. Cairhienin are a prim people--publically, anyway.

Well, Mins viewing only said that Berelain would fall head over heels for the man in white, not that the feelings would be returned ;D

Which would rather imply egwene looked like a boy... heh.

But still, it would be funny.

"But Galad, im wearing a dress that reveals my chest to you."

"Yes darling, thats the problem."

Hmm, I believe it was Narishma who was thought of as:

"Just a pretty face to many women, and some men."

Not an exact quote, I don't remember what book it was from, but yeah. Heehee. ^_^
