Gauntlet: Spear the Lie!

 

 

Your practice went very well for most of you, those of you who participated at least. Let's hope the practice paid off, for now its time to once again Dance the Spears......and this time, Immunity is on the line!!!

 

Aiel Warriors charge into battle, with spears in hand, ready to take on all adversaries.  Aiel claim that courage is not charging into battle without fear but rather charging into battle despite of fear.  Often, an Aiel Warrior must make split second decisions, and timing is everything.  They must seek out the biggest threat and smite it before it smites them.

Today's Immunity Challenge will be a Gauntlet form of Spear the Lie (very similar to the Archies Shoot the Lie back home).  The Gauntlet is run like this: I will post four statements, one of which is false, to kick things off.  The first Clan to correctly spear the darkfriend lie, wins 1 Ji and then must present a new set of four statements.  Only the other two clans may respond at this point and the clan that correctly spears the lie, wins and presents the next set of four.....and so on.

 

*)The first clan response will be the one taken, so strike true with your spear.  An incorrect response will break your clan spear, and leave your clan unable to respond until the next round.

 

*)Should both clans break their spears, the Ji point is awarded to the Clan in control and they get to ask a new set of statements.

 

*)All statements must be based on WoT trivia, which may include trivia about Robert Jordan himself, Dragon Mount, and the Bander's proboards site.  Although clans should make sure their statement sets give the others a reasonable chance at getting them correct, feel free to make them as challenging as possible.  They have at worst a 1 in 4 chance of a guess.....and sometimes, you just gotta toss the dice!

 

*)The first and second clan to reach 10 Ji, will win immunity!  The losing clan will have to visit Tribal Council this Friday, where one of them will be going home.  Survivors Ready?  The Gauntlet begins NOW! GOOD LUCK!!!

The first set of statements are as follows:

 

A) Robert Jordan (aka. James Oliver Rigney) graduated from the same collage as Pat Conroy, author of the Lords of Discipline.

B) Brandon Sanderson, author of Elantris, is scheduled to complete A Memory of Light to be released in the Fall of 2009, which will conclude the Wheel of Time seres.

C) Only Aiel men may become clan chiefs and hold property; however, only Aiel women may become Wise Ones.

D) Wise Ones of enemy clans, even during a blood feud, may walk freely among each other without threat.

C) Near the end of the War of the Hundred Years, Lord Nicoli Merseneos den Ballin captured the city of Illian and created a kingdom of the same name

D) The thirteen oldest Kin in Ebou Dar, known as the Eldest and the Elders, comprise the Knitting Circle or just Circle.

**** IMPORTANT CHALLENGE UPDATE ****

 

Ok.....the producers just informed me that due to time constraints, we have updated this challenge with a few extra rules.  Apparently, they would like for it to end sometime in 2008, so we have added the following:

 

1) There will be a 4 hour response time per round, each round beginning with a presentation of questions. .  This gives all Clans ample time to respond without having to check here every minute.  Should either clan fail to respond within the given 4 hours, the point will be awarded to the Clan in control.

 

2) When a Clan guesses correctly, they have 1 hour to post their next set or control and the Ji point is given to the opposing clan. 

 

3) The first and second clan to reach 5 Ji points will win immunity, to save time. 

 

These Three Rules are in effect as of this post!

I hear ya, Mystie....but the Producers would like to end this challenge sometime in 2008, and we went nearly a full day without a response from the Goshein.  The wise Car would make sure at least one member was around to check the thread at least once every 4 hours or so. 

 

Hesitation kills an Aiel in battle, according to the Wise Ones....

Besides, I've seen many Clan members online here at DM during this whole time that could have made a post, but didn't.  Not naming names, but you know who you are!  ;)

well sweety, when at work I can occasionally come to the boards to read up and post a few quick posts, but I can't really go hunting for answers to games and the like. That has to wait till im home in the evening. And yesterday it took me the whole evening to post around 5 posts on the entire DM board after which I gave up and went to bed. So um.... yeah, this game isn't the only thing we have going ;)

C. Siuan thought for a time that Mazrim Taim could be the True Dragon.

 

D. Pedron Nial was going to use Rand to gain influence by letting him grow in power and then saving the day by taking him down.

These new rules have so totally confused me!

 

Basically, now there is a bit of a time limit.  If we kept going the way we were going, this challenge would have lasted until TG.  If a Clan guesses correctly but FAILS to post a new set of statements within the hour, they forfeit the point and it goes to the other clan.  In the case earlier, the Goshein  failed to post a new set of questions so the point an control went over to the TAARDAD Clan..

 

If no one guesses correctly within four hours of when the set is posted, the point goes to the controlling clan (the clan that asked the question).

 

The main goal here is to make this enjoyable for everyone.  Its not like I am expecting everyone to be keeping this game top priority; however, I am not sure that suggesting one person from each clan check this thread at least every four hours or so be that extreme.  I mean, as much as I have seen all of you folks online at DM, I wouldn't think that be putting folks out that much.

 

If anyone remains confused, please either PM me or your Clan Car for a further explanation.  SHAIDO answered correctly, gets 1 Point and control of the board!!  They have answered correctly and must post their next set of questions within the hour.
