Ok, in the Great Hunt, I think, Verin says Hawkwing sent two sons as well as armies across the Sea.  Yet we only hear of Luthair.  Did the other one not make it, is this a mistake by someone or did I miss something?  Thanks

We don't know, but my guess is he either died in the passage to Seanchan, or shortly thereafter landing since the complete lack of mention.

I imagine a power struggle ensued. There can be only one! Seriously though, I dont think brothers would be too buddy buddy sharing power. Historicly the various rulers and their relatives in Seanchan rose to power through asassination. Of course only the victors name be recorded since dead men tell no tales.

Or it could just mean that even though he sent 2 sons Luthair was the one in charge, because he was oldest or whatever. Not all royal siblings kill each other off, some are content not being the guy in charge.

That only matters if the other trusts his sibling to be contect not being the guy in charge. Once he gains clear power, others may dislike his rule and try and form a plot around the other sibling even if he doesn't want any part of it (its happened in history; some of the plots involving Mary Stuart comes to mind), and so he might be put to death to avoid that threat. He might also just be paranoid and kill the other even without a reason.

All true. It certainly has happened in the history of Earth a bunch of times.

But then it might not have also. I wonder if Prince William is going to have Harry killed when he takes the crown in England??????

I believe the other son was actually sent across the Sea to Shara not Seanchan.  Remember Hawkwing tried to invade Shara as well and was repulsed.  That would explain everything satisfactorily.

Yeah it was. Hawkwing had two living daughters and two living sons before his death all born to his second wife Takima (the three children his first wife bore him were dead by then). He sent his two sons to Seanchan, one of his daughters to Shara, and the other was killed in the War of a Hundred Years. Berelain's family claims to descend from her son.
