i should probably clarify this by saying that it's extremely rare for a newb game to have only oldbie mafia. it wouldn't be fair, now would it?

I know and that is why I am [glow=red,2,300]recalling my vote[/glow] I orignally though I could not sway anyone but I have come to realize that I am most likely wrong (as always) and am going to stay nuetral for a while longer as I hate losing so until I have better idea as to who is voting I am going to refrain voting in the lynch.

well I am still unsure of May something about how Daet has played the whole game has just struck me as off but I may be mistaken

The survivors shift with nervous tension as another round of finger pointing and accusations begins. Alys flings votes around like water: she has voted for every other person in the village before lunchtime. May is firm in her conviction that Alys is the werewolf, but towards the afternoon her conviction visibly wavers. Finally Krugster talks Alys around. Daetirion has been acting shifty all game, he says. He must be the one. Mayleigh wavers once more and finally breaks. "I don't know who to trust," she says, "I hope you're right."

 

Dae protests his innocence all the way to the tree, thrashing violently and screaming at the top of his lungs. "Can't you see it's her? It's her!"

"Can't you see you've lost?" Alys says calmly. "Give it up."

"You'll see," Dae chokes out. "Run! Everybody run! It's nearly time!"

But the rope silences him forever. Feeling sick in the stomach, Krug touches a silver coin to Dae's face. Nothing. The coin drops from numb fingertips, spins blazing in the glare of the setting sun.

Meeting each other's eyes in a brief moment of mute horror, the  survivors scatter.

 

Krugster runs throughout the night without pause. A few times he thinks he hears sounds of pursuit, but there is no time for anything but running. Even when the sun breaks over the horizon he doesn't stop, knowing his only hope is finding civilisation. His footsteps slow and stumble. He should drink. He should rest. But his mind is filled with the triumphant howling that broke out in the village as he pounded down the only road out of town with the silver light of the moon limning the clouds.

The sun is setting again and still the next town is beyond the horizon. Fiddleton is isolated for a good reason. Krug's steps drag hopelessly, and he can feel the darkness sucking him down. But as he succumbs to gravity he feels hands catch him him by the shoulders, propping him up. A voice somewhere says "Krug, you're alive!"

Water on his face. Another face: Mayleigh. "We're only a mile outside of town. We can make it!"

His mind floods with relief. With limping steps he inches forward towards salvation. Not alone. Too tired for any thought but this: made it. Too tired to ask questions.

"I would have found you sooner," Mayleigh says soothingly, "If Alys hadn't given me such a run around."

He nods dully. Of course. Almost there. Lights shimmer just over the next hill.

"... of course I got her in the end."

Krug stops, trying to process everything. Mayleigh, here. Not tired. Why isn't she tired? Mayleigh stops too, turning to face him with a grim smile as the moonlight pours over her convulsing features. "I'm glad you decided to trust me, Krug," she rasps, "So very glad."

 

The werewolves are victorious!

Hooray! Next time I'll put some of the particularly twisted set-up ideas I've been working on into play. I'd like an experienced mod to look over them though, so I can polish them up and balance them out etc. Anyone want to volunteer?
