We should have been a bit more specific on the award question.... some of those awards would be something we would never think of or care about.

Q11:Did the film win an Oscar or Golden Globe award?

Posted

imdb lists prety much all awards that are given if you look at the movie, so i was just thinking that we could weed out anything that dosent have any awards at least.

Posted

See now we can't really locate a good list.  It could have won any award like Independent Film Spirit, Cannes, Bafta, or something small that we rarely hear about.

Q1: Was this movie made before January 1st, 1986? NO

Q2: Was this movie made After December 31st, 1992? Yes

Q3: Was this movie Released after December 31st, 1999? Yes

Q4: is the movie a chick flick? No

Q5: Is this movie's genre as listed on IMDB an Action, Drama, Or Sci-Fi Movie? Yes

Q6: Is this movie's genre as listed on IMDB a Drama? Yes

Q7: Does the movies title have more then 3 words in its title? No

Q8: Was this movie Released After december 31st, 2003? No

Q9: did this movie win any major awards? Yes (Irons definition: oscers, film festivals, any awards that you would see on the box touting it)

Q10: Sin's List was a No

Q11: Did the film win an Oscar or Golden Globe award? Nope

So we know it is a drama released sometime between 2000 and 2003 and has 3 words or less in the title.  It also did not win any Oscars or Golden Globes, is not a chick flick and was in production at least since 1992 (the last one makes me laugh because Caddy got you *g*)

I hate burning questions... but the last two have been foreign films...

Q12:  Was the film originally released in the USA?

Posted

*throws stuff at people*  We should make that standard question #1.  *g*

So the awards it could have won are Cesar, Cannes and those type....  most foreign films wins some award in their country... especially if American's have heard of them.

9 questions left....

Metropolis won an award with Avignon/New York Film Festival, and the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0017136/awards

That is why this 'has it won any awards' is a loaded question, what we really want to know is emmy's, golden globes ect, as almost 'every' movie has won or been nominated for 'some' award.

Except for the movies Paityr likes.

:P

Hmmm...I wonder if it might be Amelie. IMDb does classify it as a drama, was released in Europe in 2001, was nominated for 5 Oscars and a Golden Globe but didn't win any, yet it won quite a few major European awards. It also has less than three words in the title (unless you use the French title) and probably wouldn't be considered a "chick flick" (although, that's really a subjective question...one person's chick flick could be another person's drama...I'm thinking we should probably avoid using this question in the future and try using something more objective that means the same thing).

I don't know, I'd be interested in hearing what others think about this one.

Q14: Was the film originally released in France, Spain, Russia or Great Britian?

Q15: Was the film nominated for any Academy Awards or Golden Globes?

I am surprised Hax hasn't gotten this by now.....

Pait, I think you may be right.  At least now we can get a list....

Vozvrashcheniye (The Return) • Russia

Amélie, France - 2001

Gosford Park 2001 - UK

Hmmm I looked through 2001-2003 Academy Awards and these only popped out at me that fit all criteria.

I will let someone else ask the winning question if they want....

BAH!  Take off Amelie....

Strong contender is Gosford Park (which I love myself)...

Q17: Was it originally released in the UK?

I liked Gosford Park as well.

At this point, I suggest ignoring the chick flick question. The movie doesn't fit my idea of "chick flick," but it's a subjective term, as Pait said.

Remember, this is Cads we're talking about. I wouldn't rule out anything. Anyone know about any French erotica released between 2000-2003?

Q12:  Was the film originally released in the USA? No, sorry!

So what we know for sure:

Released in France, Spain or Russia sometimes between 2000 and 2003.

It was nominated for a Golden Globe or Academy Award but did not win. It did some other awards.

It is not Amelie or Godsford Park.

It is a drama.

The title has 3 or fewer words.

Sin posted a list which it was not on (check back in thread).

Now that I have a recap, I will try to work my magic.
