OOC:  Going to push forward a bit again I'm sorry for the delay.

Cari retreieved the men by the backs of their shirts.  She didn't say anything to him they looked ather with everything but compassion.  They had brought down the fire from the heavens in one foul swoop of stupidity.

Cari dragged them out.  They were highly surprised that someone of her size handled them so easily.  One look from her though and they quieted.  The Shadow insider only wished for them to make the wrong move, it would be their last. Cari fought with her control, she wanted very much to kill these two men.  They no only risked her life, but those of everyone she loved.

Cari pushed them out of the door way at the Child of the Light.  "As requested, the only two people not residents of the ranch."  Cari didn't smile or beg, "If you could kindly remove yourselves from our ranch, we would like to get back to work."  Cari didn't move, she didn't flinch at the stare she received.  "I'm not sure why these men are here, or what you want from us, but we do not know these men.  They came here looking for shelter, and it seems as some of my fellows would like to have them kept secret."

He motioned for them to move back into the house, and Cari did as asked, she didn't expect them to leave with out more drama.  The Children of the Light were more than thorough in their investigations, Cari only hoped that the children would be spared.

Inside everything was dead quiet, no sound but the breathing of men could be heard.  Cari looked to find everyone but Nalia present.  The two men ran towards Petra and Liam. "Help Us!  Please you promised we'd be safe!"  Cari didn't react, she knew better than to give away what had just occurred.  Taylor had a look of fright on his face and Cari quickly took him into her arms to hide him from the view and his face from the Children of the Light, he knew what was about to go down.

Cari whispered in the boys ear to calm down.  He only did so because he had no choice. He clung to Cari like there was no one else left in the world he trusted, and that was probably true, other than his grandmother.

The two men rambled.  "The Great Lord said we'd be safe here, you promised us we'd be safe."  Petra and Liam looked at the men horrified, but nothing escaped their mouths...

Cari

OOC:  go ahead and take Liam and Petra prisoner as well, I'll have Nalia attack, Cari take care of her end and then you can decide how we leave the ranch semi-intact hehe.

Bert felt uncertain. The prisoners, the very same individuals who were supposedly strangers to the farmfolk were now begging for help, speaking of promises not kept and words broken. They spoke of the dark lord. Bert knew this wouldn't end good. He glanced at Ezekiel. He stood solemnly, calculating and making decisions at a speed Bert could only imagine, showing his true character as a leader and a warrior. Bert decided this, this of all times, would be his hour in the sun. He'd arrest them. As if he hadn't known them to be darkfriends from the very start, this display of kinship only affirmed his belief, and he knew he was in the right. The creator's justice would be visited upon these foul darkfriends, and Bert would be the tool through which He channeled his mighty fury. After all, he was the good guy, he couldn't lose. He drew his blade and pointed it menacingly towards the two farmfolk to whom the begging was being directed at. "In the name of the light," Bert said, voice quivering, "I place you under arrest!"

When Cari disappeared from the room Yrean was about to jump up and follow her knowing all to well what mischief the Whitecloaks could produce when they thought they had the upper hand. However he took his lead from Demus who did not even bat an eye at all of this, either the man was far cooler under pressure than Yrean had realised or there was something else going on here that he was not aware of. Then again everyone took one look at Cari and usually underestimated her abilities, he had no doubt that that was something else that had to be added to the mix. He had been around Cari long enough to know that if the issue was to be settled by violence then she would initiate it when the moment was right and no sooner. So Yrean did the only thing he could think of under the circumstances, he removed one of hishidden daggers and much to the shocked amazement of the nearest Whitecloak started to clean the grime from under his finger nails.

Yrean made a great show of this, tutting over the amount of dirt he found, and shaking his head in disbelief that anyone could allow their fingernails to become so grime ridden. But that was not all, once he had finished with his finger nails he then preceded to remove his boots and socks and as if seeing his feet for the first time in a long time, threw up his hands in mock despair. However this was not the smartest move that Yrean had ever made as his dagger thudded into the wooden ceiling and the sound of it hitting home obviously caught the attention of the armed Whitecloaks who had been most unamused to have discovered they had missed a weapon when they had searched him. However seeing the look of contrition on his face and realising that Yrean had not threatened them in anyway, and seeing the colour of his feet no doubt helped, they went back to their quiet conversations.

Slowly Yrean stood up and stretched a hand out to the ceiling but the dagger was out of reach of his grasping hand. Yrean turned to where Demus was and asked him to help. Yrean climbed onto the chair and Demus supported him by placing his hands on Yrean’s hips. Yrean yanked on the dagger and it came flying out of the ceiling causing Yrean and Demus to end up in a heap on the floor. Before the Whitecloaks could react or think this was anything other than an accident by a clumsy fool, Yrean took the opportunity to whisper to Demus and also to pass the dagger to him while retrieving yet another hidden dagger.

“I be no knowing their intent, but it be no hurting Cari and the children.”

Yrean knew he could not say to much but the recognition in Demus’s eyes was answer enough for Yrean, he had no doubt that Demus knew what Yrean was referring to. Quickly the two men disentangled themselves and then Yrean went back to cleaning his toenails, however when he started to trim them, and the cuttings started to fly about like shrapnel, this became too much for one Whitecloak who ordered him to stop his nonsense or face the consequences.

It was an interesting enough event that Demus was having a little trouble keeping a straight face.  It wasn't that he didn't understand the dire consequences of what was happening around him, but as it settled in and they waited for the Whitecloaks, Yrean began doing the oddest things.  At first Demus watched the other man with a growing unease.  Cari trusted him and Demus trusted her and her opinion, but he didn't know the man well enough to say he trusted him.  It would take a while before the two men would probably ever get to know one another well, considering they shared a lover and two out of the three of the triangle were dark friends.  If Yrean had been a dark friend it might have made things a little easier.  Or a little more complicated depending on how you looked at it, but Demus wasn't complaining.  Yrean was decent enough.

He was strong enough too.  At least Cari picked them well.  Not that Demus was comparing or anything as he helped steady Yrean who was retrieving his dagger from the ceiling.  Just noticing since he happened to have his hands on the mans hips.  Ok, so Demus had done a thing or two in his time that weren't exactly conventional and it didn't bother him the slightest to have his hands on Yrean's hips, but that really was neither here nor there.  It was just that the man was acting so odd ...

And then Demus found himself on the ground with Yrean whispering in his ear.  Exactly the sort of sweet nothings he wanted to hear also.  He hid the blade well before making his way off the ground and hoped that Yrean understood that he was with him in that.  He wouldn't let anyone hurt Cari or the kids.  He'd die before he let that happen.  It was a little startling to have it right in his face like that, so complete and so total, but he'd grown to accept it over time.  It was just moments like this when it crept up and slapped him in the face.

So he got back to the wall he was holding up and continued to eye Yrean with his crazy toenail clippings and the White cloaks who were beginning to get annoyed with him.

Demus :P

Cari had walked in just in time to see her two lovers untangling from a mess on the floor.  She tried her hardest to keep a straight face but a small smile crept from it.  It brought interesting things to her mind, but nothing she would ask of her men.  She didn't think they'd share well in that type of situation, and she really didn't want Yearn finding any excuse to hurt Demus.

It was still rather boggling that the Whitecloaks had yet to find Nalia, she wasn't particularlly good at hiding.  Unless maybe she was using the one power...

A younger of the whitecloaks appeared to take Petra and Liam captive and Taylor struggled against Cari.  He knew what it meant, he was trying to be big, but he knew what their fate would be.  Cari had to find a way to spare them that fate and assure them Taylor would be cared for.  As if the thought cued the distraction, Nalia came into the room with lightning arching from her hands.  It didn't take long for the whitecloaks to react.

They left the Rashad's side and started to try to fight Nalia.  Cari quickly slipped three vials out of her pelt pouch.  One she downed quickly.  The antidote in case of an accident.  The poisons she had were slow acting and they would not suspect anything if the white cloaks saw them.  Cari first went to Petra and whispered in her ear.  "It will take a while, but they will not torture you.  Taylor will be safe."  Cari took the poison from the vial and looked as if she was drinking it.  She kissed Petra hard on the mouth and the liquid trickled into the woman's mouth.  When the poison was gone, the kiss was gentler and said good-bye.  Cari had shared Petra's bed a time or two to ease the woman's pains about her husband...

Cari did the same for Liam but he muttered to her.  "No I don't want to die."  Cari didn't ask him, he was even weaker than Petra and he would be the first to crack and the rest of them would surely die.  Cari kissed him.  It was painful for them both, as Liam fought every thing she did, but he had to come up for air and when he did Cari let lose the poison.  He tried not to swallow but Cari didn't give him an option.

The deed was done and in an hour they would both collapse.

OOC:  You may kill the channeler, but please don't catch Cari in the act.  The actions have already been approved.

Ezekiel sneered. It all started with a simple matter of capturing two Darkfriends. Developed into a full ranged chase that lead to the discovery of two additional Darkfriends within the local population. And on top of that, they were now under attack by no less then a deranged channeling woman who was trying to take down each and every Child of the Light in the room. A typical day, then.

Despite all of that, Ezekiel's eyes gleamed in delight. It wasn't every day that the Children of the Light had the opportunity to take the life of a witch. The witches were greatly hated and the desire to exterminate them was there. But unfortunately, they proved to be hard to squash. Like roaches. Especially when they were in number or had those little guards watching their backs. However, the one in front of them was alone. And while Ezekiel had no doubt that the CotL would suffer some loses if they tried to take her out, he was willing to accept the price and pay it. Signaling with his hand to the CotL around him, they charged at the woman. Ezekiel folded his arms and observed. He would of course have liked to make the kill himself, but at the same time, exposing himself wouldn't have been wise. He settled on watching, which was just as sweet.

The symphony created in front of Ezekiel was inspiring. The first CotL that charged got hit by the lightning that the woman was wielding. He walked a few more paces, as if not realizing he was struck at all, and then collapsed. But there was no time for sympathy. A few more charged at the woman. She took care of them as easily as the first one, but while she was distracted, one of the CotL managed to get behind her and plunged his sword through her heart.

Her expression froze. A mix between pain and confusion. Ezekiel smiled and savored the moment, until the CotL who killed her slid her off his blade and let her fall on the floor. Ezekiel walked towards the body and flipped it over with his foot. Turning around, Ezekiel addressed all the Ranch members. "Look at her very carefully. This is what happens when you walk the path of darkness. This is the fate that awaits each and every one of you if you choose it. Our blade is ordained by the creator himself. And if you cross him, we cross you. Let it be a warning to you. The only one. Because the next one would be made with the tip of our swords." Ezekiel's signaled a few of the CotL to pick up the injured CotL and carry them outside.

He addressed another group of CotL to his right. "Make one last sweep in the premises. Report back to me." If nothing further was discovered, they could finally leave that wretched rat hole. While the idea of questioning each and every of the ranch members was appealing, it seemed unnecessary for the time being. They got what they came for and so much more. Looking at the witch's dead body again, he wondered if he could take a little trophy.

The drama unfolded and Nalia found the tip of a sword through her for her objection to the Children of the Light's presence.  Liam was freaking out but Petra watched calmly from hooded eyes, the poison was clearly taking affect.  Cari wasn't sure what would happen when the Children came back from their sweeps.  But she was sure there were no more hiding people that could be found.  There was no trace of anything else that could be considered Darkfriend, everyone was careful and everyone know the price to pay if they got caught.  Cari could only hope everyone had done their job.

It wasn't long before the Children returned and Cari only hoped they would leave before Petra and Liam died.  But it wasn't the case.  Liam's activities pushed the poison along further and he fell to the floor face first.  What would they think of it.  Cari and others made a move to look as if they would assist them, and Petra even started to cry.  Taylor could be heard yelling "Father" over the drone of business that was starting to begin.

Cari left the vials in Petra's hand before she had left their side.  It would be self inflicted poison that killed them.  Cari only hoped Taylor didn't have to watch both of them die.

Ezekiel looked thoughtful for a moment. He raised his hand to halt a Child who started moving towards the body, probably to inspect it. He was going to get a tongue lashing once they returned to the Fortress, for daring to move without being specifically instructed to. Impertinent fool.

"Clear this room from the civilians. Place them in one of the rooms and keep them under watch. No one is to exit the room without my explicit permission." The CotL who Ezekiel halted hesitated for a moment before he joined a few others and started to usher the inhabitants of the ranch into the interior of the main house. He probably realized Ezekiel was crossed with him and decided to put distance between them. Good call, that.

"Shall I inspect the body, sir?", asked one of the CotL who were holding the woman. She didn't seem shocked by her husband's premature and quite abrupt demise. She seemed resigned, though. Not a surprising reaction, since she was well on her way to the gallows. But what seemed odd was that she was distinctively unafraid. Musing for a moment, Ezekiel nodded to himself. Blimey.

"No need, soldier. He's dead. It was poison." The soldier looked at Ezekiel pointedly, probably confused as to how Ezekiel could determine that with such certainty without even inspecting the body. "I know the sort. I've used it a few times myself and I recognize the symptoms." The soldier stared for a moment and then looked away.

Ezekiel walked to the woman. "Anything you'd like to share?". The woman looked at him levelly but didn't say a word. Ezekiel smiled. "Hard to find words, isn't it. Losing your husband must not be something easy to bear. It's really heart wrenching. I have a feeling, though, that you believe in the notion of 'together until the end'. It is quite noble." The woman started to sway a bit. Her eyelids started to flutter and foam started to come out of her mouth.

Leaning closer, Ezekiel whispered into her ear. "I'll be sure to look in on your boy. For your sake, I hope he won't be following in mommy and daddy's footsteps. Otherwise you will be seeing him sooner then you think." Ezekiel Smiled satisfactorily as the woman dropped to the floor. He contemplated her for a moment before turning to his men.

"Fetch the others. Release the civilians. We're moving out. We got what we came for." Ezekiel spared another glance for the bodies. He was half pleased that they were dead, yet half disappointed that it didn't happen when he chose to. Well, I still call this a win. "Sir, what about the bodies?". Ezekiel considered the question for a moment. "Leave them. It serves as a demonstration of where the path of a darkfriend ends. Go on, gather everyone and once we're regrouped, we're out of this rat hole."

Once all the CotL were accounted for, they mounted their horses and headed back to the Fortress of Light.
