WoT Favorites: Final Poll (Long overdue)

Well, apparently apparently there are people other than me who like him.

But Why? there have been very few POV's of Moridin, and I don't get that "evil guy we love to hate" or any sort of coolness vibe off of him, like fans do from Darth Vader, or other cool villains.

Cause he is insane! He's the bad guy, he can use the True Power, he's Rand only he can do whatever he wants, and no one is there to stop him. He's only a half-step below the DO himself.

I just don't get it, I guess. To me, there is not any cool vibe that I got similar to what is seen in Darth Vader, or some other cool villain.

I don't know. To me, he's kind of relatable.

 

He was a reknowned philosopher, who got so tired of the Old Order of things that he called for massive change.

 

He was willing to go to the ultimate levels to further his cause, even to destroying the Wheel itself.

LoL, which makes Moridin/Ishamael certifiably insane without any moral compass at all besides what he himself wants or values. To me, Ishamael is one of the most completely selfish villains of all time. :)

*sigh* I see Nynaeve still has not magically appeared on the list. In any case, it's good to see that ONE other person loves Lan too.

 

All those votes for Moridin...yup, Saidin's taint is finally driving DMers mad.  :o

The thing with Moridin is, he's utterly fearless (a sign of insanity?). With his new looks, he's very cool. He became cooler (?!) when he helped Rand in Shadar Logoth. I'm not even sure Demandred would have dared go near Rand and Sammael. And he doesn't seem to be fazed by Shaidar Haran, though I can't remember whether we've seen them together. All the other Chosen seem to be a level below the Super Fade, but Moridin is (IMHO) at least on equal footing with SH.

Oh, one more thing, he's Nae'blis. Even the Dark One agrees. You can't beat that.

Moridin is insane which i dunno adds to his appeal..I still voted for Mat though..just because he's [glow=red,2,300]super-cool[/glow]

If I hadn't voted for Mat, I would have voted for Moridin/Ishy...and here's why:

 

Moridin is Nae'blis.  He is, like was stated, half a step below the DO himself.

 

Moridin kicks the crap out of the other Forsaken, and actually has them grovelling to his will...largely.  Can anybody say Soul Trap?

 

Moridin is completely off the map on where he might be going or what he might be doing next.  I think that he ultimately wants to destroy Rand because he sees Rand as the only person who can challenge him.  I think Moridin might not even be afraid of the DO...and I know he's not afraid of Rand or H.S.

 

 

 

 

After Moridin, my favorites are Thom, Lan, and Padan Fain.  I was kinda disappointed that Fain didn't make the list....

That's true, since only two females made it to the top. Perhaps if the other females weren't tugging their braid or combing their hair all the time, we would vote for them too.

Personaly i dont think he's insane... just not quite sane.

most of the time he seems clamish on the surface, sometimes even from his own PoV's and then you get the moments when he cuts lose and appears completely nuts, then he goes right back to being calmish again. in terms of my own most favored bad guys of all time he'd probably rank in my top 5

I voted for Mat, but Moridin would have been my second choice.  I find them both very interesting characters. 

 

I love how Mat would so like to pretty much do "nothing" but gets himself in to situations where he just becomes the "hero". 

 

Moridin - he is just so out there - as some one else pointed out.

Now a question.  How is it that Cadsuane and Nyaneve, important characters in the books, didn't make the list, while Aemon, someone dead a thousand years and more who doesn't even play a part, did?

Despite the fact that Nynaeve or Cadsuane may actually be more popular than Aemon, they didn't win their categories, so therefore, they don't go on the list.

 

It's a bit flawed, but I can't really think of another way to do it...

As I understand the goals and desires of Ishamael/Moridin, I find it impossible to see or appreciate any "coolness" about him at all.
