Elder Haman will be murdered

wait, is that what the death gates were then?  just regular gates that they should not have passed through?

deathgates are gateways that move whilst opening and closing, exiting to a different location each time.

regular gateways(made from the OP at least) kill shadowspawn the same way deathgates do(which makes sense since deathgates ARE gateways).

It's my opinion that Haman will travel to the shadow coast to find that the stedding there have already been over run.  The Shadow coast, from KoD's Prolouge, is a vast mountainous region where a trolloc horde could easily hide out for an extended period of time. There were mentions of flocks of ravens flying from SW to the north or north west scattered liberally through KoD's, and I think it is a sign that the shadow is moving forces into place enmasse, in the shadow coast, to take Randland by suprise.  if that is the case, Haman's return or word of Haman's death and the overrunning of the stedding in the Shadow Coast, would be a strong motivator for the Ogier to listen to Loial without having to go to the ridiculous step of naming him "Elder."

bjclinton has it right. I think the Ogier of Randland are going to be part of the war of the Shadow, once they see thier brothers from Seanchan fighting alongside the humans. It will be for the Greater Good or something like that.

I think it will happen wether Haman dies or not. The Ogier will fight when pushed! Maybe if the shadow finds a way to invade a stedding, or if they attack the Tinkers (those who can't or won't defend themselves).

Thoughts?

I would agree that the Ogier of the Westlands are going to fight in the last battle... I think that the foreshadowing there makes it pretty obvious...

I am not sure it will be because of the Seanchan Ogier though... I have actually been waiting for a confrontation between Westland and Seanchan Ogier... something nice and tense with lots of sparks...

I have a feeling *AFTER* the last battle the Ogier will actually go back to whatever dimension or portal-stone world they came from though...

Me too, but I am not sure about the sparks. Haman meets Hartha... Actually we don't know that much about the Ogier Gardeners, do we? (These being the only Seanchan Ogier we have seen so far.) We know that they are not da'covale to the Empress. But do they share the love of books and knowledge with the Ogier of Westland? What about the Great Trees?

If the dedicated noticed the Way opening in time, he could just simply open one of his own gateways in front of the Way and tie it off, effectively either killing them all off, or holding them at bay long enough for Haman to do his job.  Just a thought.

Nice idea. Only problem would be if a Forsaken came through first. :o

And, such a thing could happen, I suppose.

But, the DO is not exactly oversupplied with Forsaken.  So, who could be spared to shepherd a bunch of Shadowspawn through the Ways?

Asmo is gone.  Bel'al is gone.  Aginor?  We don't know, but he'd be the first to get a third chance at life.  Rahvin is gone.  Sam is 'toast'.  Demandred's whereabouts and availability are unknown/unproven.  Semi is a prisoner.  Graendal might break a nail.  Cyndane and Moggy are both kept pretty tightly leashed.

That leaves Mesaana, Balthamel/Aran'gar/Halima, or Ishy/Baalzy/Moridin.

Who's your candidate?

Well the shadow may have some third age foresaken(Possibly Taim, probably alviarin) as for others I don't know.  BTW, Aginor is gone I'm pretty sure, he f$cked up twice, once he killed himself at the Eye and the 2nd time he was killed by a darkfriend.  Although who knows, he was the only foresaken to get within striking distance of Rand.

I think you are probably right here... The DO doesnt seem like the kind of guy to give *third* chances... then again, he could just be pragmatic about it since he does have such a small pool of bad-ass baddies to play with.
