Halima is Arangar?

I am currently reading CoT and just finished the chapter where egwene awakens to find that an Aes Sedai and her warder were killed with Saidin. Now earlier in the same chapter (I believe it was the same chapter) Egwene got a headache  right as Halima was leaving. I know i should probably have put this together before but it seems to me that halima is using saidin on her. It then dawned on me that she is the only one to heal her headaches.. this explains a few things.

  • The escape of mogheiden(sp?) by a woman using saidin
  • Halima causing/healing the headaches without egwene knowing (i.e women can't feel saidin channeled)
  • The death of an Aes Sedai using saidin while Halima was out all night

Long story short I don't want spoilers I just want to know if my assumption that Halima is Arangar is correct.

It was actually revealed at Halima's introduction - see http://encyclopaedia-wot.org:8008/books/loc/ch30.html

It's been unpleasant to watch Egwene be duped for four books in a row - you're lucky just to have caught on now. :)

Well it was obvious that Halima wasn't all she said she was from the start. My post was for the original poster :)

I realized when she started talking about Cabriana after the Semirhage torture scene.

Oh, I was talking to the OP too.

The more I think about the Halima plot, the more frightening it is. What a clever move on the DO's part - it seemed in the beginning like it was simply a sick joke, but it's one of the shadow's most effective strategic decisions so far.

I just wanted to check I'm re-reading the series and I'm pretty sure Halima aka Aran'gar is really Balthamel (Sorry if I spelt his name wrong). Could someone confirm this for me? Thanks in advance.

That is correct. Balthamel was reborn as Aran'gar, and is disguised as Halima. That's why s/he is physically female, but uses saidin instead of saidar.
