  1. Yes & no. I mean even extremely detailed notes will never really be a substitute. I enjoyed it overall but the more time I spend thinking about it, the more I'm beginning to wonder what it would've been like if RJ had done it in the style that he wrote Eye of the World.
  2. Gawyn's death struck me the most. He's actually retroactively become my favourite character. He grew so much & yet learned so little & died in such a dumb meaningless way, leaving Ewgene all alone. Yet he did everything because he thought he was doing the right thing & he was just a bit of a loveable idiot. I suppose I should have known Ewgene would die but when it happened it sort of snuck up & me & it took me a bit to process what had happened.
  3. I am satisfied. Just finished a first read through, a bit quickly, I guess but It's the literary equivalent of wolfing down your food too quick. If I had to single out one aspect of the book that really struck me, or stood out to me it would have to be the casual manners in which a number of the main characters deaths were handled. To be brief: I loved that. It really helped hit home what I feel is the truth about war. No soldier, no matter how great or heroic, gets the valiant last stand, coveted in glory & drawn out before ending in an epic fall to the ground screaming defiance. The
  4. So how many questions do I get? Wait... Dammit.
  5. My mind went to a really dirty place and I liked it.
  6. I think I like Tenobia. I know, she's had all of maybe 10 lines in the entire series. I don't know why but I love Saldeans. For some reason I picture them as Asian.
  7. I haven't been here in a long time & I've started to come back for 'check ups'. When I was here there used to be one thread I'd convinced myself would never, ever die. One word. Asmodean. Pages & pages. Enough debate to fill the entire WOT series over & over again. Imagine my surprise when I found the thread vanished. Where has it gone? Or did you finally figure it out? Could I please be directed to the thread? Or given the answer? Again sorry but I didn't know where else to ask this.
  8. Like lots of people have been saying isn't it theoretically possible that Moraine's stream of balefire was weak enough that it's effects could be reversed?
  9. That's like saying a Lioness Vs a Peacock. One is all puffed up & full of talk. The other is a genuine fighting machine. Tuon would gut Faile with one hand tied behind her back. :D
  10. Lanfear/Mierin. I just want to be clear when I say Lanfear/Mierin I'm intentionally leaving out Cyndane because I don't like that part of her. As for Lanfear to this day I can think of very few female character's who I have fallen so deeply unabashedly in love with. An amazing creation. She was so vivid throughout the early parts of the series. How often does a character come along who literally makes your mouth run dry?
  11. Since I last visited & how long I've been waiting for AMOL. I'm just here to ask you guys about a publishing date. I visited Sanderson's site & noticed his status bar now showed 109% for AMOL & 90% for Harriet's line edits. Since this confused me greatly & all I was after was a rough date of publication & I figured you guys & girls would be able to help. So in a nutshell is there an official publication date for AMOL? Even a rough guess like maybe September or November?
  12. I'm thinking Semirhage won't turn but she may be subjugated or bullied into obeying for the first time in her life. Plus I'm a massive Lanfear fan & I would be disappointed if she turned. Lucky that's not gong to happen. P.S. Notice I said Lanfear fan & didn't add Cyndane. I don't care for Cyndane.
  13. Read the Kushiel's Legacy series? Just out of pure curiosity. I stopped coming to these boards quite a while back to stop myself from pining for an end to the series. ::) As it happens I've been pouring through plenty of fantasy as a stop gap and I'm well and truly hooked on Kushiel's Legacy. Robert Jordan called it "A very sophisticated fantasy, intricately plotted and a fascinating read." Just thought I'd recommend it while I was popping back in to see what's changed. On that note I'm actually quite scared that Luckers seems to have somehow become more prolific than befo
  14. I assumed that they definitely broke the covenant in the sense that they would have been hurling fire six ways from Sunday in an effort to destroy each other.
