My wife's free internet at home expired July 1st.  I'm to cheap to buy it.  My DM is totally dependent on sneaking in a minute here or there while I'm at work.  The rumors are flying.  I might lose access to DM at work.  In that case, ole GrandpaG will fade into the sunset.  I'll enjoy this luxury for as long as I can.  Rest assured that if one day I never return, it is no fault of yours.  I look forward to spending time here and appreciate your hospitality.

Most of my generation is not so tight fisted with their money.  I spent a lot of time with my grandparents who survived the Great Depression.  I turn my head when my wife wastes spends money on the grandkids or sneaks money to one of the kids.  I also try my best to spend my weekly $25 no-smoking reward money on something that I don't really need.  Other than that, I don't spend money unless it is necessary (yes, my car is paid for...not new, but paid for).  If my world crashes down around me and I can't get online for free, I'll most likely break down and spend my smoking money to get to DM.  Hope I don't have to cross that bridge too soon...saving for a $1,000 guitar amp that I don't need but would like to have.

Go to the Library! All the Libraries are supposed to have computers, or most of them anyway. It was some kind of grant from Gates. Ours lets you have 30 minutes at a time, longer if no one needs it after you. And it's free.

Or, maybe you could get a free trial from one of the rival companies? Just rotate them around.  ;D

The wife pays $40+ each month for dish then complains that there's nothing on (I get my History channel for free as part of her package).  If I parted with one week of smoking reward I could get DM.  Or, maybe I could "convince" the wife that SHE needs high speed DSL (whatever that is)...then, while she's gone to work in the morning I could spam fiddles all I want for free!!!

juno used to give free online acsess you just have to deal with a lot of adds and what not.  i dont know if you can still get it anymore but thats what i used befor my evill brother got cable, now im addicted. the wierless thing works good too. you can even get a USB wierless adapter thing for about 25 bucks at best buy and hook in to someone in your naiborhood wierless.  id you do dissapear we will all miss you

i spend way too much on the everlovin tv that i dont watch either. i only keep it going because i cant give up the history channel (they might do something on alexander the great or ghengis khan and i just cant miss that)

i have dsl now, a luxary i would never have concidered even a few years ago. my tightfistedness with money comes not from the great depression so much as it came from being a single mom working three jobs to take care of the kids. i still have minor panick attacks at the register when i grocery shop. lol
