Wha?? Man, whatever. Might as well go out in style: [glow=red,2,300]Griefy[/glow]. Seems to me I've been done in by a non-well-thought-out PM, a trigger-happy Admiral and an ill-informed assumption about my history with bandwagonning. Well this'll be my last Mafia game for a while. It's been good, and I gotta say this has been the most interesting game I've ever played.

* WELLLL, THE DEADLINE CAME AND PASSED WITH NO LYNCH. AND DUE TO RL, I WAS NOT ABLE TO LOG ON TIL THIS MORNING. AFTER THE DEADLINE, GRIEFY WAS LYNCHED BASED ON BARM'S SUSPICIONS, WHICH SHE VOICES SOME DISPLEASURE OVER IN HER LAST POST. THEN THE BLACK BONESTONE IS FOUND. BY MULTIPLE PLAYERS. AND, BECAUSE SEVERAL REMARKED HOW EASY IT WAS AFTER THEY RECIEVED THE CLUE, I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD SEE THE ACTUAL CLUE THAT THE SINGER RECIEVED:

Roses are red

Bonestone is black

To find what you seek

Look in the back

NOT QUITE AS EASY AS HIGHLIGHTING THE "ROSE", ANYWAY.  SO THAT LEAVES US WITH A COUPLE OF INTERESTING SITUATIONS. WHO IS DEAD? A RANDOM AND GRIEFY? OR JUST WHOMEVER AT THE TIME THAT I LOGGED BACK IN?  AND WHO HAS THE BLACK BONESTONE?  I'LL TELL YOU THAT BOTH BARM AND KIVAM WERE AMONG THOSE WHO DISCOVERED IT.  THINGS SEEM TO WORKING UP TO A CRESCENDO. I DON'T THINK IT WILL BE MUCH LONGER UNTIL WE ARE AT OUR FINAL SCENE.  rubs hands together*

And why don't my smilies or italics buttons work?

Well, if Griefy was the random, then obviously we would have to choose someone else wouldn't we? I mean, technically wouldn't you have to roll your random as though we had not decided on our lynch, which would put Griefy back in the mix? If Griefy was the one to die, then we would have to choose someone else.

Either way, it doesn't really matter. After Thursday afternoon, I am leaving until Monday afternoon. Hopefully we can get close to a resolution before then. :-\

You have a chance to compare notes with the others.  Each of you seems to have had at least a similar conversation with the witch, and yet some details were different. You discuss this among yourselves while keeping an eye on the Minister and the Admiral. The tension between them is thick, each receiving guards and messengers, but they have not led on as to why. You feel the pressure of the deadline looming, but you are unsure if it even still exists. After all, the man who said it is at the bottom of the pit right now and certainly nothing else he said matters. Did the Admiral impose the deadline? The Minister? Time passes and the appointed hour finally arrives. The group is undecided on whom to lynch. The room goes quiet and all eyes turn to the Admiral and the Minister. Then, at the same time, they turn to face you all and say “What?”. Nothing happens. You breathe a sigh of relief and after thinking about the situation for a little bit longer; you all decide to lynch Griefy. Barm nods his head in approval. Although he has been engaged in negotiations with the Neitaren Fleet, his network still managed to supply him with this possibly invaluable news.  After all, if he is right, this could be the last assassin! The hush that usually precedes a lynch falls over the crowd. Griefy seems distracted, toying with some orange figurine and laughing to herself.

Barm steps forward. “Griefy, you are the Godfather, aren’t you?” She smiles. “Whatever Barm. I have done the best that I could with what I was given. I’ll tell you this much,” she points to the Admiral, “He’s crazy.”  She stands up to face the group. The figurine dances in her open palm. “Sometimes things don’t turn out the way that you want them to, or that you expect. Sometimes people let you down, and sometimes, you are just betrayed.  But none of that matters anymore, because sometimes, if you have kept a couple cards back, you usually get to play a last hand.” She closes her fingers around the figurine and a wicked smile crosses he face. She opens her fingers and the black bonestone sits in her palm.  Barm and Kivam gasp, having found its location as well. Just not before it had been taken. Griefy holds the stone high over her head, wrapping her fingers tightly around it. She leers back at the group. “No need for a rope. I think I’ll deny you the pleasure.” And with that she closes her eyes, black light flashes through her fingers and she crumples to the floor. Her arm is flung out, palm open, but there is no sign of the bonestone.  A silence comes over the crowd.  Nothing else has changed.

(and no, I'm not crying)

Nicely played, Griefy . . . I'm pretty certain the assassins have just won the game (unless I die before the final battle, in which case we all lose  :-\ )

A deep "boom" sounds somewhere outside. It was not that loud of a noise, but it was distinctive. The Minister, Admiral, and Barm all turn towards the door at the same time. Seemingly unaware of it, Barm mutters "They negotiated not to.." and runs out of the room.

Guards immediatley block the door. The senior Hall Guard calls back "Minister, your orders?" It is the Admiral who answers "Attack them at once!" the Minister shoots a look of undisguised fury at the Admiral "Hold! Do nothing until Barm returns with a report!" he stalks over to the Admiral. "You have caused misery for everyone!" his hand goes to the hilt of his blade. The Admiral leaps up and meets the Minister with a finger pointed at his chest and growls, "And you have let all of this happen! You gave to much power to the Sisterhood. You invited the Neitaren's here and you have lost the men's confidence by making weak decisions!"

"And that is why you were not admitted to the rank of Admiral before. You are rash, and unwise. You act on hasty impulse, which has lead to your ruin!"

The Admiral laughs in his face. "And you continue to plan poorly, which has led to yours. I have as many men outside as you do. Draw your blade, old man, and no one will come to save you this time." he stands poised, ready to strike.

*THE ADMIRAL AND THE MINISTER WILL ENGAGE IN HAND TO HAND COMBAT. AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH MOVE, EACH WILL HAVE A CHOICE OF MOVES TO MAKE, AND EACH OF THOSE MOVES WILL HAVE A PREDETERMINED OUTCOME. THE OTHER PLAYERS ARE WELCOME TO ENCOURAGE THE FIGHTERS. THE FIGHT WILL BE TO THE DEATH, AND THE WINNER WILL TAKE ACTION THAT INFLUENCES THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME BUT WILL NOT DETERMINE THE FINAL OUTCOME. THE FIRST CHOICE OF MOVES WILL BE POSTED SOON.*

Another "boom" sounds in the distance. Then another. The Minister and Admiral have left their attention away from each other for the moment. The Minister calls out "Report!" The guard calls back in "None yet sir!" The Minster clenches his jaw and says in a very low voice, "Barmacral, this will all come down to you. Gods be with you...” and then everything turns upside down.

Black light winks out of the corner of your vision, flashes on the ceiling and then flashes all over the room. Your vision stretches from side to side and the room begins to tilt up and down at the same time. You reach both hands out to the sides to stabilize yourself, but the dizziness sweeps you up and carries you away in a spin around and around. You vaguely register your knees buckling, then your cheek is on the floor, but the floor is still spinning like a top. The black light flashes like an insane fireworks display, popping all over the room. Vertigo takes you over, but just as you feel consciousness begin to slip away, the spinning slows. The light show slows and then fades with the occasional flash here and there. Your head is still spinning, but even that slows after you take a couple of breaths. You lie still for a moment, and let things begin to calm down. You bring your hands to press into the floor and push up on to your knees. You know what has happened, it was the…

Barm stumbles in, leaning his good hand against the doorframe. “The Neitaren’s are attacking. They lied to me Minister. As soon as you invited them into our waters they must have planned to launch an assault. There are twice as many ships as we knew of, and some are already in the harbor.  Most of our men are blocked out to sea. Their soldiers will be on our shores at any moment….”

Danya says, in a very measured voice. “Somebody used the black bonestone.”

Barm answers “Yes…but what is important right now is to escape. We’ll sort the rest out later. Our forces are in short supply because they were sent away due to the prophecy. If I did not know better, I would say that someone must have told this to the Neitaren’s.” He glares at the Admiral. “And now they are unusually well prepared for a land assault. Minister, if you and your daughter will come with me, I have already locked the lifts. We’ll take one of the back tunnels. Everybody follow….”

“Like hell”, the Admiral, still on his hands and knees, whips out his blade and spears the back of the Minister’s leg.  The “booming” outside is constant.

*THE BLACK BONESTONE HAS BEEN FOUND AND USED. THE MINISTER AND THE ADMIRAL WILL DUEL. THE HALL WILL SOON FALL TO THE NEITARENS*

Well, I guess it's time to toss the dice, eh?

I can't believe the Admiral just speared the Minister's leg. What a jerk.

And now we have a new assassin...and nobody knows who it is. And nobody was protected from that bonestone. So now what do we do?  :-\

We have to assume Barm, the Minister and the Admiral are all protected, since they are unlynchable (if they become assassins it would just be game over, since we couldn't ever kill them).  Danya's views are the key - she needs to tell us who to kill.

quick question to Wes. how long will the night last? until the battle between the Admiral and Minister is over? or when you have all nightactions?

and the black stone has been used. that was the only way Barm could be turned. but it could also have been used to turn any other player too yes?

The night will last until the actions are in or the 24 hour deadline has been reached, rendering all night actions void.

“Hold!” The Minister’s voice is strained, but clear. Guards and group alike lower sword and spear points. “Stand back”.

     “Minister, we need…”

“STAND BACK! Barm, please pull the blade out of my leg. I can’t reach it.” He closes his eyes and screws his face up as the blade slides free. Then he takes the blade from Barm, and tosses it back to the Admiral. The Admiral smiles and mockingly salutes him. The Minister draws his own Sinta blade, spins it once and whips it in front of him so fast that you can almost see a line through the air. Then five witches enter the room. The senior witch holds up a piece of bonestone and hums, though nothing visible happens.

“There are three pieces of bonestone in this room. One is held by the Seer.” She nods towards Danya. “The other two are pieces stolen from the cave.”  The Blackstone has been used, and as you all know, that means that what was, is no longer.” She closes her fist around the stone in her hand, and a red glow comes from Danya’s pocket. The witch smiles. “One of you is an assassin now. The other eight are innocent.” She closes her eyes and frowns. “There is a curse on the Blackstone. It is strong. If one assassin falls, another will rise. When that assassin falls, yet another will rise. When that assassin falls, they are well and truly dead.” She opens her eyes “it is too much to overcome.”

The group stares back with wide eyes. The sounds of the attack are growing louder.

“Ah! There is a way around it, but you must be clever to discover it!” She stands, lifting the piece in her hand high, and hums once more. A white glow comes from Barm’s pocket, a gold glow from Kivam’s.  She lowers her hand and opens her fingers. Three pieces of stone fill her palm. “I have taken the pieces stolen from the caves. It is my price. Be resourceful and survive. Panic, and it will be your last mistake.”

*THERE ARE 9 PLAYERS ACTIVE. 1 IS AN ASSASSIN. BARM, THE MINISTER, AND THE ADMIRAL ARE NOW REGULAR PLAYERS AND CAN BE VOTED AGAINST, LYNCHED, AND NIGHTKILLED. THEY WILL NO LONGER RECEIVE ANY SPECIAL INFORMATION OUTSIDE OF THE THREAD. THE INFORMATION THEY HAVE RECEIVED WILL TELL THEM NOTHING OF THE NEW ASSASSIN, WHO HAS BEEN CHOSEN RANDOMLY FROM THE NINE PLAYERS. THE HEALER AND SEER ROLES ARE THE SAME. THEIR FUNCTION IS THE SAME. IF YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET PAST THE CURSE OF THE BLACK BONESTONE, THEN YOU ARE FACING ONE ASSASSIN.*

Minister and Admiral; I believe you have a duel.

To begin, you must each choose which weapon to fight with. You may only pick one. Post your choice on the thread.

1.) Sinta Blade

2.) Trident

3.) Throwing Blade

So now we must figure out how to lift the curse....any ideas?

Danya's been allowed to keep her role, same with the healer, so the murderer can only be 1 of us 7 (I won't excuse someone from the 8 cuz that would be plain stupid).

Ms. Danya

Far Dareis Mai

Barmacral

Haxorsist

Vemynal

Kivam

Loki

Admiral

Minister

every player can now be considered innocent, even the admiral who we *KNOW* before was evil.

So now we have to solve this puzzle...what a bother...

I don't see anyway around it so; Barm, Minister, & Admiral! Do any of you 3 have clues to how we might get past this curse?

Barm & kivam, have your bonestone pieces been activated? The ones taken from the cave?

hmm... well I just have to say that its very important that i'm still Healed eveyr night, otherwise the innocents will have a hard time winning the game me thinks..

[glow=red,2,300]Admiral, Minister:

STOP[/glow]

This is from The Book of Suras

Prophecy: At times, a singer will catch a glimpse of the future and have enough information to be able to form a prophecy. In rare cases, strong singers, such as the Sisterhood of Sel Arren can view detailed future events such as a famous duel between a Minister and a rogue Admiral. [glow=red,2,300]The witch who fortell this was able to influence events by letting a third party know that if the duel continued past the first blow, both parties would die and the Hall and its supportes would be lost forever.[/glow]

The third party then made it a point to stop the duel, although it is not recorded exactly how or what events followed.
