a question - rand's half brother?

Agreed - Thom killed him, and he's not Elayne's father. Given the timeframes and what everbody know knew about Thom's affair with the Queen, it just doesn't fit.

Besides, Taringail was still alive when Elayne was born, so he was obviously still alive when Morgase got pregnant. While Morgase has made some recent questionable decisions (okay, she's been a dumbass), I find it hard to believe she could concievably cause such a scandal by having an affair with her bard while still married to a relative of the Cariheinin throne (I believe Thom's plot to kill him was because Tarin had intentions of either claiming the Andoran throne himself, or killng the Daughter Heir, openning the way for his first and favorite son - Galad - to do so).

Further to Moiraine...

She spend a lot of effort making sure she would not be considerd a claimant to Cairhien's throne in New Spring. I think following from that she has consistently diverted everone's attention away from her royal connections.

Janduin was killed by a man whom he refused to defend himself against, because the man looked like Shaiel- it's when the Wise Ones are telling Rand about his birth parents.

Luc is "Shaiel's" brother. Incidentally, the same persona described by another character in tel'aran'rhiod as looking like Rand's uncle, "if Rand had a mean uncle."

This is one thing I like about this series like the importance of Elaidas' prophesy about the royal family of Caemlyn being key to the future. She wrongly assumes this means Morgasa, and never realizes it is Tigrains line that is pivotal.

RJ crafts a great story.

Crap! I never realised that until now.

Also, I don't thnik Thom is Elaynes father, I am pretty sure we have some solid evidence otherwise. Check out the FAQ for details.

And Luc/Isam killed Rand's dad Janduin.

I don't remember that the killer of Janduin was ever named (not to say that he wasn't' date=' just that I don't remember).

Where did it say this?[/quote']

I found it here

http://www.encyclopaedia-wot.org/(character list, Luc)

I must say I was surprised about it too.

The timeline of all these events confused me a bit, it still does now I think of it.

It is never explicitly stated in the text that Luc killed Janduin, but what IS said, is that Janduin was killed in the Blight by a man against whom he would not defend himself. His reason was that the man looked like Shaiel (Rand's mother Tigraine). In the same chapter the Wise Ones comment that Rand looks a great deal like his mother. In another chapter Perrin thinks Luc looks like Rand. So, if Rand looks like Tigraine, and Rand looks like Luc, then Tigraine probably looks like Luc, who is after all, her brother.

Therefore, the man in the Blight who looks like Shaiel is almost without doubt Luc, and he killed Janduin.

So, Rand's uncle did indeed kill his father, who didn't defend himself because his killer looked like Rand's mother.

Frankly, everyone is lucky Rand hasn't said "I don't FEEL like saving the world!" picked up the CK, and smashed a continent or two.

Who will bring the fried chicken?

I bet Lan could bring some fried Trolloc.

That brings up a good question, considering most Trollocs are partially derived from animal stock would it not be an excellent food source for an army in the field?  I wonder which strain of Trolloc would be the tastiest, bovine derived or avian derived?
