Reading through Clov in a more structured way, it's hard to tell if what he's saying is useful because he keeps referring to past games which gives me zero context on whether or not he's actually helping or if these posts are just jargon because who on earth is going to go a double check that

I mean I double checked some of it.

She really did scum read Cory and avoided stating any read on Chris as w/v/v once not terribly long ago and there were some parallels between her Chris read there and her read on me here (basically a really generic you fooled me recently so it's going to take time).

In that same game though I noticed some tonal variance, less emotive thinking more plain statements about where she stood--I said something about thinking vs posting thoughts and that was what I was getting at.  The former isn't abundant in this game but there have been moments, where I didn't catch any on a skim of that game.

I don't know if I should be a little bothered that Chris didn't make a bigger deal out of the fact that BFG broke away from her "wouldn't go there" reads as scum a while ago? but he's also the one who directed me to that in the first place, so he did make something of it.  I just remember thinking at the time "you could have showed me this sooner heh".  Doesn't mean it wasn't on his mind before that.

I haven't actually ISO'd him even for a one minute skim.  I'll still be really impressed if this is his scum game but he's more likely to impress me than some.  Due diligence sooner or later I guess; there are certain old Mafia habits of mine I'm trying to lay to rest and obsessive ISOing is one of them; I probably would have written him off completely if BFG had told me to lol

My thoughts on Verb are that he's injected some life into the game which is cool. That said, his reasoning about feeling good about the way people are playing doesn't help me at all. His reads are pretty null imo and he's claimed town reads on two people without really saying much which is sketchy. I'm feeling good about Ben since he's got a no-f*s-given and voted my top scum read. I can't imagine he does a reckless move like that as scum when he's close to winning the game. If he ends up scum and it was a ploy then that's balls deep. Hat's off to him.

In other words, my reads haven't developed much since the beginning of Day with BFG, Clov and Verb in my bottom pile.

What do you think about Verb basically hard clearing you when you were starting to gain traction?  And how does a scumread on him fit with BFG and me as candidates?

It doesn't fit as nicely with you as it does with BFG. He's hard-reading me not hard-clearing me. I'm not sure I view it in the same super positive way that you do.

As for his POE, I don't put that much stock into it right now because he's given three names and all he might need is one mislynch. If it helps I'd solidly put him at #3.

Basically the challenge here is I don't have a rock solid town core to fall back on and pick between the worst of the bottom of the barrel.  That's probably more on me than anyone else but it is what it is.  At the end of the day I'll be more inclined to listen to some people than others but it's not the same level of trust that I'm used to.

I don't know what you mean "wouldn't go there" reads.  But I'm pretty sure I was the only one with any sort of concerns/hesitation about her prior to Verb coming in this morning and bringing her up, so I mean...I'm not sure what more you want.  I argued with you about her, and discussed her play with HER, for pages between Saturday night and this morning.

The thing about referencing past games as scum (I should know; I live by it) is you don't really ever have to lie.  You just cherry pick.  Find the one instance where a player did something that fits your argument and ignore the 20 instances to the contrary.  Villagers are liable to miss that stuff too so you always have an excuse.  Players need to police themselves and call it out when someone drops a half-truth about their previous games.  Doesn't make the person dropping the meta scum, but holds them accountable to not ride off into the sunset on a bogus read.  (See: CassGOAT checking my claims about Crusher last game.  I wasn't wrong but I only reported half of the story.)

Stuff like when I said I didn't think she would scum read you and null read me as w/v/v and you didn't tell me I was wrong.

Or maybe you did. We worded a lot.

Iirc Spirited Away didn't get name dropped until a while later though.

I don't view it as positive.  I view it as negative, given that I think his POE is probably all town and the person he's feeling best about for really weak reasoning is someone that I'm not confident at all in.

But if I were in position to possibly be lynched and an inactive player started defending me, while presenting very similar thoughts as me I would be paying a lot of attention to that person.  Unless I thought he was trying to avoid getting his hands dirty or trying to just seem unique/original, yeah, I'd view it positively.

Basically I remember discussions back in the day that town!BFG wouldn't have the guts to hedge around you/Cory as a wolf, and I don't know if she ever personally stated that but she at least rolled with it. It's not one of those things people can't change about themselves; it's just a truth until it isn't and it obviously isn't anymore.

@Tiinker ordinarily I'd agree that lynching on Day 1 is important, but lynches don't always give info. Crushers didn't last game, Darthes didn't this game. In a closed setup where there's a potential for things to resolve at night, or for kills to not go through then no lynching can make sense although isn't preferable

I mean yeah, because no one voted. Pretty useless right?

My catchup is a little blurry right now - what is your thought on BFG's NL vote?

Check page 42-43. I think that should be the bulk of what you need.

This sequence reads oddly to me for m/m

Basically I don't see scum!BFG doing this with both town!me and town!you.

She actively scumread Cory in Spirited Away and fought giving me a townread as long as she possibly could, though both were far less in your face.  My bigger thing is, if she's mafia, she either lucked into a scenario where she could reasonably justify for "bad reason" post and it ended up being about me OR she posted that with the intention of setting it up as a method to read me.  If that were the case, she was either planning on reading me as town anyway - why make a scene out of it and drag it out like she has? - or she was planning on using it as a starting point to actually push me.

And as much as I'd love a legitimate Town!Chris vs Mafia!BFG thunderdome, I'm hesitant to say it's what she'd ever work towards

lol nevermind

I don't think I ever said that about us? I could be wrong though

Might have been Cory. Might have been BFG herself. I know it was said in multiple games and they were probably circa 2015 when I was still first getting to know you lads.

Might have been me a year ago? It's changed lol, spirited away is still mostly an anomaly though

I could definitely see her having said it, and it might have been true at the time - I know she doesn't have that much confidence in her scum game but I would guess she feels a lot more strongly about it now than she did then lol

Oh, okay.

I still don't feel like she's really taken any initiative to talk with me directly in this game and I don't like that.

You haven't been a ~concern

I guess it's just that in my head earlier this game I was thinking is scum!BFG reeeeeeeally going to defiantly insist she has no read on me no matter how far I push this and the answer was more "yeah maybe" than I thought and I don't know if I should be more bothered than I was at the time because I'm multiple days displaced from it now
