It's starting to cool down here. I just love Fall, more than any other season. I think I might bake some things soon.

eh. i'm not ready for wearing.......sleeves. of any length.  baking sounds good though. what do you have in mind?

Posted

Just some cookie bar things to take to a gathering tomorrow.

I don't like sleeves either but I live in California so I just push them up.

My right arm is all scarred up from a rollover accident 3 years ago. I always wear sleeves now. Actually, if I had had on sleeves at the time, I wouldn't have been cut up so badly. I used to wear tank tops all year round before the accident.

It get's so hot there. Here too, but not as bad.

I have a scar on my neck where they did the fusion and one (that cant be seen) on my lower back for the other surgery. I can imagine how that rollover hurt. :(

Thanks. I was really upset about it for a long time. It was a drunk driver and she only got probation after nearly killing me. (It was touch and go that first night) I let that upset me for a long time. But now, it's just one more thing I've triumphed over.

That's a good way to look at it.

I have elderly friends. Years ago, their 31 year old daughter was hit by a drunk driver. She lingered in the hospital 3 months before she died. The other driver got 6 months. Her mother has never been the same.

Tonight, I had an mini event at Michael's with some of the SCA members. I made soap base last month (w/ lye). Tonight, I used an already made goat's milk base and then a shea butter base. Added oatmeal to the first and different scents to both.

Have any of you made soap before?

I used the shea butter soap we made today. It was wonderful! I'm going to try our goat's milk soap with oatmeal too. My husband and I are sure we will never buy bath soap again.

Yes, it's really great and I feel a sense of accomplishment. We are eating more at home too.

That's awesome! I love a good homemade soap, and shea butter is amazing. I haven't gotten to do a lot of it, but I took the herbal soap making class at Gulf Wars a few years ago and still haven't used up all the cakes I made there. Though that one's a lye soap, so I don't use it as often.

I just signed up for Yule. We share it with another Barony and there are only a 100 spots. It's one of my favorites.
