OoooKay, so in the sign-up thread, the "in" post I was remembering form Cory was #31, which is not an actual "in" so much as an acknowledgement of being listed as in the game.

 

Regardless, dude was signed up to play, then he dropped, then he edited his drop posts. So there's that.

 

Recruitment mention posts incoming.

I think this Cory thing is stupid. We have no reason to believe he is in the game, it was advertised as a 13 or 16p game, which leads me to believe the Laughing Man was going to be in the game regardless of actual player numbers.

 

This argument about whether or not Cory is in the game, when we have no evidence in the actual game only in the signup thread, to support it smells of fear mongering to me.

The idea of speculating whether it was Cory in the game had nothing to do with Cory and everything to do with preparing to deal with whatever role TLM does actually play. Who the player is doesn't matter. That it might be a live player vs. a mod device does. 

 

So when Seph voted and then unvoted, it raised that question of it being a trap, especially if its a mod device. I pointed out the information about Cory because I find it a possibility that he might actually play that role - I've run games where I had players post as character before.

 

You calling it fear-mongering is weird... what is there to be afraid of? We know we have the character/player, so spec'ing on what it does seems like a good idea. 

 

Fear-mongering was probably not the most appropriate word, but it seemed good enough to me. I may have misinterpreted the convo, but it seemed to me focused on whether or not Cory the player was actually that role or if he was in the game, and less focused on the mechanics of TLM. If you want to discuss the former, then I think you are fear-mongering about the existence of a player who most believe to be pretty skilled. If the latter, then please do. I encourage it. I think its probably an npc role, the real question is if it is an obvious trick to waste a turn or if its a legit thing we should lynch. I should mention, I believe I was the first person to bring about the idea of TLM being a trap so I have in no way tried to stifle conversation about it.

 

So tl;dr, fear-mongering to me was in reference to the idea that Cory, a skilled and respected player, was in the role because it makes some people very nervous about it. I also think the mention of recruitment, which we have no evidence of, is very likely to sow some discord and distrust in later stages if it is constantly referenced. Dont worry about recruitment until we have a reason to is my motto, otherwise town will tear itself apart.

Have any of you known Dragonmount to like pseudo-rand type things that would allow a player to be plucked out like that and inserted as a role? Sounds within my understanding of Smogon, but I'd be really surprised here. Then again, none of you blinked about it

Ive never seen it here tho Ive only been playing for like 1.5-2 years.

 

Tho Shad is a crazy mofo so you never know.....but I really dont think it would play out like that tbqh.  I think its like an NPC (also something Ive not seen here but much more likely of the 2 imo).  Either way its something we've got to figure out at some point, and the sooner the better.  Maybe not today or at least like not till towards the EoD at least.

Zander the only question I'm sitting on right now to the best of my memory is a very general would you give reads and reasons and thought process for me to evaluate kind of thing. I don't really have enough and I don't feel good enough about anything to share it yet, other than my read on Nyn that I'll say is a heavy assumption that she's not a very comfortable mafia-alignment player and I was incredibly satisfied with the tone of her posts saying she wasn't likely to be around much during the weeks which she made right before I gave it. Those are VERY hard posts to make when you're nervous about them.

 

If you wanted more than me to share my thoughts more freely, please remind me. It's on the to-do list

See I know Nyn's a GOAT Townie and I know how she plays as Mafia.  Nyn dont really have a problem replicating her tone as Scum especially D1.  I know its her content itself. its activity, its tone and how she interacts with people and a level of intensity/involvement and what she chooses to comment on and you can see where/why/how she coming from with things.

 

Your 95% comment is WAY WAY WAY to strong to have on her now imo especially since Ive never seen you guys play her together.

 

So you have to understand this read and confidence on it is quite alarming imo.
