Crossroads of Twilight: Summary

(Saban 17 - Aine 14, N.E. 1000)

Mat, who has brought three Aes Sedai out of Ebou Dar with the help of Egeanin and three previously leashed sul’dam, hides with them among Valan Luca’s circus wagons. Mat begins his courtship of the kidnapped Tuon, and learns that his words in the courtyard constitute a Seanchan marriage proposal. Tuon’s Deathwatch Guard sets out looking for her.

Perrin’s scouts have found the Shaido, in greater numbers than his army can face alone. Perrin learns that Masema has been dealing with the Seanchan. In the Shaido camp, Faile is punished for planning to escape.

Elayne visits her supporters across Andor via gateway, and gathers intel about the enemy camps outside the city. Wavemistress Zaida makes a bargain with Elayne—Windfinders to help her keep Caemlyn supplied in exchange for a square mile of land on the river. Elayne learns she is expecting twins.

Egwene considers the problem of blocking Tar Valon’s harbors, and observes a group of Aes Sedai and novices making cuendillar. News of Shadar Logoth’s destruction prompts the Salidar Sitters to propose an arrangement with the Black Tower. Someone is murdering Salidar Aes Sedai with saidin.

Bashere, Loial, and Logain find Rand in Tear by using the bond to track down Aes Sedai who left their Warders in Cairhien. Rand sends them to propose a truce with the Seanchan.

Perrin and Berelain buy grain from a ghost-infested city. Tallanvor returns from chasing “Maighdin,” and tells Perrin of a Seanchan army also hunting the Shaido.

Egeanin is demoted by Tuon and given the name Leilwin Shipless. Mat buys silk for Tuon, and makes her smile. One of the sul’dam wakes a run for it, forcing Mat to kill her.

Egwene is forced to replace Kairen Stang—a second Aes Sedai dead at the hands of the mysterious saidin-wielding killer—as one of the Aes Sedai sent to turn Tar Valon’s docking chains to cuendillar. She succeeds in her mission, but is then betrayed and captured by the Tower.
