Episode 8 is a 7.5 for me. I liked the AoL and Ishamael especially. Ishamael was the high point of the episode for me. The bore was interesting, but so much of this stuff needs more explanation.
Tarwins gap and the lack of a retreat was a big problem for me. Although Agelmar's army likely thinned out enough Trollocs to gove Amalisa a chance. Amalisa's scene was good but a little over the top. Constantly bringing characters near death and then healing them will lose effect if they keep doing it. Once again, the trollocs were too blurry and out of focus.
Rand, Moiraine. and Lan were all very solid here.
Perrin and Loial.... their role just wasn't that great. Was that Loial getting drunk at Min's bar? And how does an Ogier lose a battle against only 3? Loial held off all kinds of shadowspawn in the Stone of Tear. Loail big let down this season. Couldn't Perrin at least have tried to defend the horn a little harder?
This show desperately needs more screen time to make the characters come to life more. The CGI needs to be improved, and I really hope they can make it more understandable for non book readers.
Can only hope they can make it through season 2 filming without Covid shutdowns and without major staff departures.
Lots of promise still, and I'm not as letdown as many other book readers. the end of EoTW was never my favorite part of the series.

They are spending more in season 2 than season 1. heck yeah, now given them some more screen time once they realize how popular fantasy series are and how they need more time to blossom

the 1st sentence isn't supported by the quote after it. That's why I am wondering where that is coming from. even the amazon interview I just posted says nothing about it being the number 1 premier

Nielsen rankings arrive - more good news for WoT viewership.
this article says wot was 2nd most viewed premier since Hunters in 2020. This contradicts what dragonmount has posted about it being the biggest premier ever on Amazon. I was somewhat suspicious of that statement because there is no source for it

I only hope this episode can balance all the action and make it impactful. Usually shows don't introduce so many new elements in their final episode. Here we still dont know much about Ishamael yet. Having the LTT prologue, age of Legends montage, Padan Fain recap, Tarwins gap battle, Eye of the world battle, Forsaken, horn of valere/banner/seals, cliffhangers, etc. Its going to be ALOT, and that's not even counting green man being in there

epic fantasy is easier to present in a cartoon format. Many cartoon are more representative of epic fantasy than any live action movie or show ever could be.
Trying to show epic fantasy in a live action format is incredibly difficult. The best chance is in a streaming format. I feel it has already been done in shows like Star Trek and maybe Stargate. Highlander had some interesting formats. Telling a complete story though as opposed to having self contained episodes is something even more difficult. I really hope WOT can make all the way.

If WOT is truly the number 1 show then it deserves a level up in budget just like the Boys season 2. On the list of Amazon shows there are several shows (Goliath, The Boys, Man in the High Castle, Sneaky Pete, Crisis in 6, the Grand Tour), in the same 10 million episode ballpark budget as WOT. Will be interesting to see what special privileges come of being the number 1 premier on Amazon all time. One thing is sure, it will get more expensive and keeping eyeballs is of chief importance

anyone have a link to where Amazon actually says this is the number 1 premier of all time? I only see the article where it says it is top 5 all time and number 1 for 2021

This review thinks episode is the worst of the season and a 5 out of 10. what are they smoking?

you left out the battle for the WT, the BT arc, and the culmination of Mat (the rescue) and Perrin's (the hammer) arcs. I expect the Wells to be season 4 or 5 at the latest; so that there's time for Emperor Rand to breathe and put the other EF5 in place before the end of season 7.
Not to mention the cleansing of the taint which took RJ 2 books to describe

Moiraine is wrong when she says the eye of the world is the dark one's prison. This is just a misunderstanding based on the proximity to the blight, false corrupted prophecies, and Ishamaels lies. Not sure the green man will be there, but there will be the horn and the banner once the pool of saidin is drained. The eye of the world is a treasure chest for the light.
Padan Fain gets the cold open. We will see his exploits in becoming a darkfriend, bringing trollocs to the two rivers, hunting the dragon, and in Shadar Logoth. Fain will hang back and watch until after Rand brings back the horn. The 1st season will end with a cliffhanger of Fain stealing the horn.

This is a 9 or 9.5 episode to me. The 1st iconic scene in the show with the blood snow. Nice action with the ways, and all the character building scenes before the grand finale. It wasn't the same as the books, but it definitely was the spirit of wheel of time.

episode 7 is the critical episode. really excited to see if this gives the conviction that this is truly a good show. still pretty excited to see it tomorrow. I said the same thing about episode 6, and that was just ok for me. but I think the action is episode 7 is definitely needed right now.

nah im not seeing that....ive had a bit of a whinge about a few things about the last two episodes, but im still really happy with how they are keeping it out of the GOT gutter....
i understand some would prefer a platonic relationship between S and M, but in the end, Jordan made them pillow friends, i like that they never 'grew out' of their homosexuality.... to me thats a plus point.
Jordans world is amazing and intense, but its not perfect, some things are ripe for a change....
im hoping theres a lot less of the pining and pathetic idiocy in the relationship between Faile and Perrin....that really damaged the books for me...
i understand passion, but that was like a classic 'he leaves the toilet seat up, she leaves the toilet seat down hur hur hur' base level story telling
as for the bath scene...that was miles from the gutter...that was actually quite poignant...they were novices yeah? i just read that as they have to expose themselves to be humbled... it really wasnt a 'phoaarrrrr tits!!!' moment for me.
Alanas decletage on the other hand....that was worth the rewatch....
Wait for the scenes where Shadar Haran tells Mesaana and Graendal to get naked and then takes his belt off

Tam will have a fever dream scene that will include flashbacks of Rands birth at dragonmount. Ishamael will invade everyone's dreams and we will hear him speak for the 1st time.
One odd thing is apparently Agelmar isn't in this season? I'm curious how long they are in Fal Dara before they head to the Eye. Apparently no green man unfortunately, but hope I'm wrong.
One of the most beautiful moments of EoTW was Loials treesinging. They probably ripped that out of the plot unfortunately with no green man. Since everything is so different it will hard to predict. However, there must be impending trolloc invasion right when all this happens so that is probably why Agelmar won't be in the keep.
The other question is if the horn of valere will appear at the eye. I have no idea since the Eye is not the same Eye of the books.

Thankfully season has been pulling in numbers and was not a complete flop from the critics. Good but not great is definitely an apt description of season 1.
This will likely give amazon the confidence to invest more
If anyone has seen the Witcher season 2 yet, it is large improvement over season 1. Much more has been invested in the show, and it has been rumored to be getting 15 million per episode as compared to 10 million in season 1.
Let's hope wheel of time can also get this treatment and hopefully getting a better system of checks and balances for some of the questionable plot decisions
