  1. No problem :)

I can certainly jump ahead a bit, about a few days or week? I can say Jagen went to Andor as an agreeable halfway point, and she begins receiving letters there.

I'll make up an NPC sister or, if one of you have an NPC in mind I can use to make this more touching (as in, one of you may know the captured woman), I wouldn't mind doing that :)

    Just let me know!

  2. No problem. Jagen understands that, I think. But how to get more information in the meantime? Just wait on the Eyes-and-Ears? I think I posted that Jagen will still go, or at least she'll go to a half-way point so she doesn't have to wait so long on a reply. But she doesn't wish to incur another sitter's wraith, either!

  3. Meissa bowed slightly and walked ahead of him, just so. Her walk was stately and formal, and she opened the door that lead to an outside walkway along the garden's edge. It was a large place with several winding paths and two small ponds. Birds chirped away, but nothing else was in the garden except the Seeker and so'jhin.

"It was regretful what happened," Meissa stated. "I was a soldier before, a guard of High Lady Retamin. I was also in training under Itela to become a so'jhin like her. She served High Lady Sera Othela." She walked up a path that lead to an arching bridge over one of the ponds; below, big, colorful fish swam in the clear water. "The High Lady Sera enjoyed taking rides in this newly conquered land. We headed south on the fateful day you have come to speak to us about. While it was a mostly peaceful journey, it would not remain so once we found a large farmhouse and stopped to speak to the local people. The High Lady Sera wanted to get to know them, you see, and ask if they have spoken their Oaths."

Meissa sighed softly. "I was ordered to stand guard outside with one of the sul'dam. High Lady Sera went inside with another, and Itela as well. The soldiers stayed outside; we thought she would be safe." Her head shook slightly. "It was a man, his grown son and wife, and their two young children. They invited the High Lady inside... then, we soon heard a commotion. I ran inside; I was the second-highest ranked soldier that day--it was the captain, myself, and those below us--as the General stayed with High Lady Retamin. High Lady Sera did not like too many people accompanying her on her rides, Seeker, so there was only a few of us."

"Somehow, the men of this farm tricked our soldiers. Once I got inside, High Lady Sera was on the floor. Itela looked dead, but she was only knocked out. Apparently the farmer and his son attacked, but they did not know what Cura and her damane were; they were not expecting channeling. We subdued them, and later killed them under High Lady Retamin's orders, to serve justice for her sister, High Lady Sera. The farmer's wife was also killed, and her children now serve High Lady Retamin."

There, Meissa fell silent, waiting on the Seeker's own words, ready to answer his questions.

  4. Jagen shifted ever so slightly as a hint of a smirk crossed her lips. "'Live to fight another day', I believe the saying goes, yes?" She did not agree with Loraine's tactics, but in her words, she did give her agreement for Jagen to leave. She would not call it permission. The Red paused and opened the short letter again, going over it slowly.

After a bit she looked up. "I trust Feodrin, and as I said before, I visited last only two months ago. Feodrin is old, but a strong woman; she has been serving me as Eyes and Ears since she first became a mother. She would not betray us, nor help lure us into a trap. This is her hand writing, and I will also say this... long ago she had to ask me for help, and I gave it, but she had no need to write it. Had her signature been different than what it is, I would know if she was under duress." That would have shown as three dots worked into Feodrin's signature, but the warning sign was not there. That had been established long ago, the idea first coming to Jagen through rumors in the Panarch's Palace when she was a young girl.

"I will write these letters requesting information in my room, along with another request from Feodrin for clothing. In the meantime, Loraine, I would appreciate it if you can get me needed measurements for yourself, Kynwric and whichever of the guards he chooses to accompany us--as well as what kind of clothing you will want to wear." She folded up the original letter. "Does this sound agreeable?"

  5. (Sorry I am waiting for Loraine and Kathleen to reply before doing more :/ )

Jagen glanced at the Warder and gave a simple nod. Anything to get him out of the room so they could conduct their business without him. "If you feel we need a guard, I am fine with that, if he is competent."

  6. Jagen was going through her Eyes and Ears contacts in her head. Besides Caiselle, who resided in a small village just on the edge of Elmora--it could be considered part of Elmora, really--she had two in Tanchico, which fell long before Elmora had to the invaders. A man and a woman. She thought about gathering their letters, but none were too full of details. She was going to have to contact them both, and quickly. Perhaps, she thought, she'd have to hand deliver notes to Feodrin, to send them off to Tanchico, and send one to Caiselle as well.

The native Taraboner listened as Loraine declined to send even a guardsman. Why was she being so stubborn, when time was of the essence? As much as the Red hated to admit it, a man on the ground was useful, more than useful. He could easily go where they would be watched. "Getting a simple guard, or better, a Warder, to pose as a swordarm for Feodrin's family--Feodrin, she comes from a merchant family, and has the money--it would be much better to gather our intel quickly. But, if both of you are so opposed to the idea, I have three contacts I can write. In the meantime, perhaps we can see who this sister is. Narrow down exactly who has disappeared, when and where... that way she may be well easier to spot. These damane, they are taught to keep their head down, that much I know."

She looked at Kathleen in the eyes, holding her gaze before her next words, "Time is of the essence. I will go to Feodrin quickly, and be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Letters must get to my contacts and cannot wait from Tar Valon. And we need to know exactly what our sister looks like. I will have Feodrin post a watch, to warn me in case of any Seanchan coming. She will be willing to take the risk."

  7. The High Lady sighed softly, almost regrettably. She sipped her kaf and then gestured behind her. "Meissa, my so'jhin, can tell you more, Seeker. I was not there directly, and so she would be better able to provide you details." The so'jhin had stiffened ever so slightly at the attention put on her. She lowered her gaze and kept it there, on her mistress's hands, waiting as proper for any signal.

"If you would like, Seeker," Retamin went on, "Why not take her to my gardens, where you can talk privately? No one goes there, of course, without permission, and so you will have a quiet area... or I can offer my receiving room?" Her oice instantly became harder as she turned slightly, "Meissa, assist the Seeker in any way."

Meissa's training kept her from pursing her lips, though her frustration was rising. Yet, Retamin had no choice but to put her on the spot, and Meissa had known this could happen one day. "Yes, High Lady." She moved quickly to the Seeker, her hands folded at her waist. "Where would you like to go, Seeker?"

(ooc: Sorry for the delay, too! RL and all that!)

  8. Jagen nodded immediately at Loraine's suggestion that Kynric gather some men. "We can use gateways to drop them off easily. Loraine, if you can get us halfway there, then I will make a gateway the rest of the way." She folded the message paper and slipped it into her belt pouch. "The village where Caiselle is--she is the messenger--it is in the Seanchan's territory, but three days' travel north is a small farming village named Gane's Willow. I visited it two months back, to get an update on the Seanchan. For the most part the Seanchan, they left the village alone, as long as the farmers show up south once in a while to sell produce. It is where I make a gateway to whenever visiting the area in the past.

"My contact there, her name is Feodrin. It is her horses barn where my gateway opens-- she leaves a stall open and bare. It is safe, discreet and we can have our own horses there. Feodrin, she has more room than horses, so it is good for us, yes? As for a seamstress, perhaps one here in Tar Valon will agree to be posted at Feodrin's house."
