  1. Bumping this cause my Seanchan are still active and looking to rumble >:)

I also want to confirm my understanding that:

    a) We're lining up with book 11 , therefore

    b) The Seanchan are only in Tarabon, Falme if they returned, Amadicia and Altara?

  2. OOC: Not at all, she's just an NPC :D

    *****************************

Cura's eyes went to the da'covale. "You do as you are told!" she snapped. The Sea Folk woman, who did not know who the Seeker was obviously, gave her tray to another, and swept to the center of the room. She began to dance, no music needed. It was sensual, watching her. Cura smiled, though inside she was nervous. Thoughts of the High Lady Retamin, of her late sister, and her former so'jhin crossed her mind... surely he couldn't be here about that?

The der'sul'dam took her place by the other sul'dam, with Suri silently kneeling beside her. "Antila," she instructed the other sul'dam, "take this a'dam and go with Kora to the gate. You must take our standing duty."
"Of course, der'sul'dam," she replied. Cura did not watch them go; instead, her attention focused on the doors that opened as they left.

Meissa walked in and moved aside, the High Lady Retamin following with her son and the local lord. Cura lowered her gaze as appropriate.

The da'covale had stopped dancing immediately, near slamming to the floor.

Meissa announced, "The High Lady Retamin of House Elioth hopes your journey went well, Seeker." The High Lady watched the man carefully as she sat in her appointed chair. Her son and the local lord sat to either side of her, where they faced the Seeker. Another servant approached with drinks as the so'jhin went on, "And we do so hope the Empress, May She Live Forever, is moving forward with the Ever Victorious Army."

  3. And statistics be damned. Im still going to gripe about Saerin and Sarine, because even if its statistically probable thered be some people with similar names who have to deal with eachother, Jordan obviously has complete control over everything. So him choosing to have two sisters with anagram names deal with eachother all the time is just a dick move, and you really cant convince me otherwise.

And ive never heard anyone defend the women in the books before. I thought he portrayed alot of them as overly conceited and somewhat incompetent a lot of the time. And I really didnt like how quickly they would just fall in love with men all of a sudden, and then spend 3 books trying to deny it to themselves, before melting in their arms. He just made it seem like even the strongest, most independent women just melt helplessly when it comes to being attracted to a man. I know this is fantasy, but come on. When you have like 8 different romantic relationships, 6 to 7 of them shouldnt play out the same way.

This first paragraph has me chuckling :p

For the second... actually I think a perfect example is how Nynaeve fell quickly for Lan, right? But I can TOTALLY understand this as a woman. He was obviously the man of her dreams and she wanted some of that LOL

As for a lady like Elayne, though... I hate her character, BUT Rand is ta'veren so I can understand it only from this point of view. Min knew from her vision she would be with him, and that was that. With Rand the only romance I really enjoyed for a time was with Aviendha, because she was damn awesome, and so were their interactions.

I'm not sure I can think of others who" fell in love with men all of a sudden"...

  4. I've often defended the women in the books though I've gotten tired of bickering with people who see it differently. and those people are often men.

when eotw came out, women were mostly invisible in sci fi fantasy, or flawless goddesses a la Tolkien. there were few "real" or politically powerful women, and even when there were (like queen riders in

mccaffrey books) they were so often subject to knee jerk sexism in world that it was difficult to read.

so when wot came out the other women I knew who read this kind of stuff loved it. this was before I had any inkling that people discussed this stuff anonymously on the Internet.

it wasn't until I discovered wot stuff on the Internet that I encountered what seemed like

mostly very young men voicing actual hatred of fictional characters because they behaved in..,, a much less sexist way than most men behave irl.

so consider this me defending the female characterizations and dropping it because the

need to defend what are actually, IMO, quite decent characters is already annoying me, and I hate being annoyed on the internet.

but yeah, lots of people love them, lots of those people are women, and

lots of the people that have issues are not women. not all but lots and lots. afaict from anonymous internet posts.

YESSSSS yes yes yes, to everything you said!

  5. I have a vague, and great idea that I really want the Red Ajah to lead (though members of other Ajahs are most certainly welcome).

As we all know the Reds are now taking Asha'man Warders, and can take as many as Greens do regular Warders. We also know that in the Age of Legends men and women worked together to create great feats of wonder... and I think we should "discover" a feat of wonder for ourselves.

    But what kind?

I think it has to be something that a) involves not causing harm to others and b) generally should be seen as an advancement that will benefit all of Randland.

Any thoughts on this? I only have the vaguest ideas yet.

  6. Hello, Sisters and aspirants!

I am looking for any active RPers of the Red Ajah.

I am taking over as Red Ajah Highest, IC & OOC. *bows* (For the NSW-RP side of things, not Social Group).

I would like to meet everyone still here and also have discussions about upcoming plans for RP! :)

And if possible, please link me to your biographies. Thank you!

  7. Okay, I'm thinking Jagen may send a servant to go get Kathleen, and asking her if she can recommend any Greens to go and ask if she herself wants to go. I already have reasoning for Jagen not asking another Red and in fact going to Green specifically... First, anyway.

We could potentially make the party Lor, Jagen and Segeria, or Lor, Jagen and Kathleen.

Cass, the most I think I can do for a novice is have Jagen giving her some kind of lesson or lecture when Jagen receives her note about all this, and sending your novice to get Kathleen immediately. If you want to do that or add to that, then you can be there sure! I could see Jagen sending your character to quietly get their horses ready too, and anything else we might need.

  8. Hmm what would my character possibly know about yours? I believe Jagen is somewhere around 120 or maybe 170... I think 170. I've been trying to find a clear WT timeline. Maybe I did find it and forgot but Sabine was my MoN... Back in 2000/2001 :p I think the Amyrilyn at the time was also from the Brown... Hmm.

For information your characters may know or could gleen about Jagen; she's a bit of a bookworm herself and spends a lot of time in/around the Library and has a history of teaching Novices/Accepted before she became a Sitter. Her specialty area of study is astronomy/observing the Heavens. She has been known to visit a shop run by a Sea Folk man who makes lenses, and she has build telescopes and shared some of her observations with other sisters. She has also used her telescopes in lessons.
Outside of that, Jagen also has animals she cares for; two horses (one is the WoT version of a Fresian), two cats and an owl she adopted after it was found injured on one of her rides. Jagen has also been known to leave the Tower often, but as she can weave gateways this is very easy for her to do and return when needed.

( Here is her WT bio, for simplicity, with more details: http://drpsw.wikia.com/wiki/Jagen_Halin )
