  1. Sanderson doesn't usually dig at anybody. He has actually declined several times to straight out criticize the show. You can tell from his podcasts that he would do things differently, but doesn't really throw shade at the show's staff. He was rolling his eyes a lot at the S1 finale, but lets be real it was awful by any standards even if was a generic show. In this case I don't think he was digging at Bezos, but was explaining the environment. Having said that the changes are all on Rafe and the writers. They COULD have made the show closer to the books even with the darker tone, but they chose not to. Lets be real, the books get very dark later on so its not a hard job to trend in that direction without inventing things like Perrin killing his non-wife. That was simply a crutch used by the writers to avoid having to do any heavy lifting writing wise with the Perrin character in S1. Had they done a better job with Perrin and Matt's characters (and of course Rand) a lot of the criticism of the changes would have been less. People are willing to accept some changes if you keep their favorite characters interacting well. If we got book true Matt, Perrin and Rand I bet 50% or better of the criticisms you see would be significantly less. A great example of this is the original Star Trek. There are many examples of poor, or inconsistent episodes in its original run. However people tuned in to see how Kirk, Spock and Bones would interact with each other. How they solved problems together was the best part of the episode. Even if it was against a poorly costumed creature somewhere in southern California.
  2. Burn Notice is one of those sneaky good shows. Kind of like MacGuyver meets Magnum PI and the A-Team, but with Bruce Campbell playing a Secondary character. Its 'science' is very sketchy at times, but at least attempts to be close to realistic. It is really carried by its actors and how well they work together. There is a funny theme in the show where the Lead Character can speak all kinds of different languages fluently because he is an uber spy, but he can't speak a word of Spanish. The show is set in Miami. 🙂 Babylon 5 is one of the best SciFi TV shows of all time. It isn't for everybody, but if you appreciate hard SciFi it is a good one. The first season of Daredevil was pretty good.
  3. While I'm guessing my take and Elder_Haman's takes on the show are wildly different. I have not personally seen any kid of moderation that has been bad. In fact I think this website is a lot better than the official Reddit areas where you get banned for anything but effusive praise for the show.
  4. That would have been a great idea. I think people would have been a LOT MORE forgiving if they had done something like a prologue explaining that this was a different turning of the wheel and introduced us to Band, Pratt, and Gerrin a trio of Ta'Veren from the 3 rivers.
  5. Sorry to hear about your vehicle. It is never fun when that happens. I wouldn't want to speak for others and their enjoyment of media. We all have things we like and dislike and what we enjoy is a personal thing. If people enjoy this adaptation that is great. Having said that for me this is a very poor adaptation. In my opinion they missed the boat completely and wandered into insulting territory. It is also fairly poorly written and produced. Their chief problem is that the writers missed the entire spirit of the books and replaced it with cheap cliches, manufactured drama and their own life experiences. That seems to be a problem with a LOT of writers nowadays across much of media. Lots of movies, or books have multiple 'remakes' and 'adaptations' with each having their own dedicated following. Lots of people like to dump on the Bakshi Lord of the Rings movie, but it is what got me interested in the books and the cartoons when I was a kid. I absolutely loved the LOTR cartoons when I was a kid, but they aren't exactly masterpieces. They did however have the spirit of the books in them and hit their target of making easy to digest LOTR content for kids.
