Entirely possible. Its just with the studios not giving out any really accountable numbers these days getting a metric is difficult. -

Oh come on. Rand trapped Asmodean and basically held him prisoner and he was Rands only hope of learning to channel. That is absolutely nothing like what we just saw. Shadar Logoth they thought was empty it's in no way at all similar to being told that even going out in the city could lead to the tower capturing the male channeler if he was found. If Moiraine had told the boys about Mashdar and Mordeth then you might have some argument. -
Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion

One thing I have looked at is the traction on this site for the first episode of season 1 episode 1. The first 2 days of S1E1 saw over eight pages of posts on DM Despite the early release at this point the S3E1 thread has only 4 pages. Episodes 2 and 3 of S3 have only 17 total posts across them during this first day that seems to be a fairly heavy reduction. I don't know how this reflects directly on the overall picture but I don't think it is a good sign for the show. -

Overall another fairly disappointing episode. Firstly the good. Mat and Nyn and his reason for staying in TV excellent scene, gets back to Nyn looking out for the 5 good reason for Mat to stay given they seem to have abandoned the dagger healing path. I don't hate giving Elayne and Avi a more physical relationship it is however a bit jarring that it was all created for the viewer inside one episode I know they had the trip but that was all offscreen. It will obviously change their relationship from sisters to lovers. Actually one more good scene Moggy and the gray man creation was a very good scene. The bad. The whole battle sequence is a mess I have covered a lot of the issues in other post so will not go through it all again, but I will add that despite Siuan saying they could not let them escape there appeared to be almost no effort to prevent the escape apart from 4 sisters and 2 warders. The escape is not concluded the blacks are just gone as soon as they walk through a door. Alaana getting blasted through a stone pillar hard enough to shatter it and being fine with no healing is insane. The boys yelling across a tavern their names where they are from and the word dragon is just the height of absolute stupidity. If the tower has any of the spies Moiraine mentioned they would be there in under one hour. Moiraine and Lanfear working together. Just no. Rand almost bragging and joking about sleeping with Lanfear. At the very least you should have some mixed feelings about sleeping with an immortal force of evil used to scare the children of the land for centuries. The whole Avi Rand dynamic feels really poorly set up. However the worst thing by far is again the damage and healing issues. Nyn gets stabbed 11 times all apparently in the torso and not dead, Perrin appears to be stabbed full on in the chest and is fine. Next day they are just on their feet again no issues. The showrunner have made a tremendous rod for their own backs here the stakes are almost non-existent barring a beheading at this point. Very disappointed with Egwene's arches scene and for someone who is apparently going to be the leader of the tower and love it her arc is going to have to bend hard. -
That was a pretty good scene really like getting the prophecy stuff but did the original prophecy stuff say he would save a remnant of a remnant or that only maybe would he save that much. Really like that Rand is getting sword training Lan still feels much more touchy feely than the books.

So you will not even admit to something I never even said? Something you misinterpreted in an earlier post. And not one single point amounts to anything more than nitpicking. How incredibly dismissive. I would be interested to know just what level something has to rise to in an action scene to be considered more than nitpicking and something that damages the writing, story and worldbuilding. -

But you have 6 black sisters all ranged that can either defend or attack. If they all attack then I could see Alanna getting lucky and killing a couple. But if as you said its very hard to use multiple weaves there is no way for her to deal with all the attacks while attacking herself at the same time, the same goes if they all defend maybe she gets lucky and breaks one of the shields but the warders are useless. We saw 2 Aes Sedai and a ton of warders in the hallway outside the Hall vs 2 blacks and they achieved nothing. While sitters are not 100% chosen because of their strength in the power in the books there simply would be no path to be in contention without being well above average. Remember your standing depended on strength in the power how long you were novice and accepted and if you were not high in those categories you were sent for tea and largely ignored by those higher than you. Liandrin I think was considered pretty strong in the power. -

You would not accept any of the things I listed as being a problem the only thing I have seen you criticize about the scene at all was the flip which was frankly embarrassing. I also think you may have misread my post I did not say you honestly point out legitimate criticism. I said given our different paths to enjoying the show would you accept that the things I pointed out were legitimate issues even though they did not affect your enjoyment of the show. The level of your defence is very high but that comment in fairness was in response to you dismissing my criticism as purely nitpicking. I will withdraw my comment that you are an apologist. The same as I am sure you will admit that I was not in fact praising you for not being an apologist and that all my criticism do not in fact boil down to just nitpicking. -

I don't think I ever praised you for not being an apologist. Ok so we have a baseline for where we are coming from in terms of our enjoyment as I find it hard to immerse myself in the story when these issues constantly break it up. Given that will you admit that the things I mentioned are in fact legitimate issues even if they do not stop you from enjoying the show. I think this is probably what you are referring to. I really do not see how this is praising you for not being an apologist. And you will note that your very next post to me was a defence of the show. -

Either could be true and I am more than happy with either one, I don't have a copy of that book with me but I simply thought all the action was chasing through the halls of the stone so I just assumed it was the world of dreams especially as we did not learn of shards till later. -

She is not attempting to destroy the entire room if every single action an Aes Sedai takes has to take in every single possible thing that could possibly happen as a result then they could never do anything. How could Moiraine throw the large stones at the trollocs in the 2 rivers what if the trolloc or stone happens to impact an innocent? What if there were people hiding in the Inn and she killed them with pulling it down?( a fairly reasonable assumption if you ask me) How could Moiraine attack the Seachan ships? How could Moiraine sink the ferry when the ferryman tried to save it. How would the 3 oaths prevent them from attacking Black sisters threatening the lives of fellow sisters. Unless you are arguing that you can never attack the black ajah? -

To save my family and friends lives would i destroy my home, in an absolute heartbeat especially when those I am attacking are the absolute worst of the possible worst. This total and absolute apologist line you are taking exhausts me. And again we come back to the characters competence or lack thereof being the plaything of the writers to fix the situations they have placed them in. -

So what you have healers that can fix you up as seen in the show and you stop the blacks from killing quickly. It's highly doubtful that if she used the exact same attack that a narrow line would cause the entire floor to collapse. It's certainly a better option than watching your sisters gets killed and watching the blacks escape. And you didnt answer why the blacks couldnt channel into the ground in the same way to block it. -

So you what if there are floors beneath the Hall how does that stop her exploding the stones under the blacks feet and is actually an advantage if the stones crack and drop them through they are going to take fall damage and be hit by stones. Surely the primary aim is to stop them killing your fellow sisters. -

Put up a shield in front of them to stop all the debris and if Alanna can channel under the ground what is stopping them doing the same. If Alannas underground attack is unblockable why did she not use it in the Hall fight? -

Theres's arrogance and then there is suicide. It's the same as 6 men vs a crossbowman at 50m you might be confident to the point of arrogance that you are going to beat him but to choose not to put up a shield because of that is suicidal. They are trained channelers one of them from the green/black so almost certainly has the same training as Alanna to not consider her a threat is just mad. Also surely the main goal is to escape ASAP why delay neutralizing her any longer than necessary. -

I know we find out later that Ishy specialized in dreamshards but i still thought that Rand was basically correcting things in the world of dreams that Ishy was changing to try and stop him. I don't remember that fight ever specifically been confirmed either way that it was a shard or the world of dreams. I just always assumed world of dreams. I thought it was always a chase down the corridors of the stone with suddenly lava filling the corridor or water or pressure suddenly filling that environment. -

People where arguing that the blacks had more training and were more prepared and ruthless and that was why they won, and now you seem to be suggesting they lost because they were arrogant and caught by suprise. -

I thought it was just the world of dreams they jumped into. Dreamshards where channelers/dreamers dedicated areas I think. -

Jump cuts and dark screens make following modern action sequences an absolute nightmare I know it saves on budget but a lot of the time it's near impossible to actually tell what the hell is going on. -

Just last week people were arguing the exact opposite argument in favour of why the blacks beat the Hall. It's not a question of speed both sides clearly saw each other before attacking and we saw clear evidence of blacks insta casting shields in the Hall. And the blacks are in a rush to escape before they are overwhelmed by loyal Aes Sedai so why would they possibly hesitate, and how on earth would you not think a member of the battle ajah was no danger to you. -

But why did the blacks not raise a shield when they saw her. The shields block both channeled and physical attacks. Why did they just stand there and wait for her to attack first. And too many jump cuts the bane of modern action scenes. -

Maybe but she could have just killed them all that kind of feels like more her character. Having no consequence healing of pretty much death and be insta cast makes it hard to have stakes. And you would assume that Alannas warders would know that so not going for the kiling blow first makes little sense. -
