bring in callandor at a later point in time?

      Reveal hidden contents

If they do skip it, would Be'lal be one of the forsaken

not to appear in the show do we think?

    Spoiler

Didn’t Verin say something about a sword of fire and the branded hand that wields it?  Could that be a reference to Callandor and they  hangs what it is or is it the Rand’s blade of light?

On top of that, season 1 ended with Fain showing up almost out of nowhere and getting stabby with the dagger.  I’d imagine they don’t want to be redundant here.

What if that becomes his thing?  The end of each season has him show up and stab someone. Each season, people would be guessing who is Fain going to stab this time?

he would be like Swipper from Dora the explorer.

  3. In the book it was clear Ingtar was obsessed with getting the horn, to the point that others would comment on it.

It was during the reveal that we find he saw retrieving the horn as being key to his redemption/salvation after the things he did for the shadow.

I get no such sense of urgency or obsession from him in the show.

this was probably mentioned already. Sorry if I am duplicating somebody’s post.

  4. So, Min has a vision of Matt stabbing Rand. She assumes it kills Rand. (Loial survived getting stabbed.)

However, she had a vision in season 1 of Rand holding a baby. That turned out to be related to the world Ishy showed Rand to convert him to the shadow. It was not real.

Based on this, could this vision also be of an alternate reality or some such thing?  Could this be one of the wounds Rand gets in his side if Matt uses the dagger?

  5. I enjoyed this episode. Like others there are some nitpicking points.

Why would Ryma stay in Falme to study the a’dam?

How did her warded know the damane noticed?

will they have time to complete this part of her story or does it matter?  The sitter seems poised to fit that role.

The tree singing was nice fan service but seemed a little out of place to me. I am not sure how non-book readers will take it. There was no build up or reference for viewers.

How long do they leave Egy there to be trained?  I thought her scenes were well done other than Renna being able to lift her so easily.

I don’t know about Siuan untying a knotted weave to help Moiraine. They cannot see male weaves. How would she go about doing this?  It seems a stretch to me, but I would not rule it out with this adaptation.

traveling from Cairhien to Falme will take how much time?  Do they do a time jump or fast travel?

  6. I am just trying to imagine how much training, conditioning, and practice it takes to be able to consistently throw massive axes 100+ feet and impale a human in the center of their torso. At times with enough force that the blade protrudes from the other side of their body.

I wonder if they could show a trolloc camp with axes stuck in targets where they have been practicing or having competitions?  Think of the additional world building that could be done with this.

It seems to be a trend of TV, particularly fantasy TV that they like to film things in darkness ignoring that many of us don't have the high quality TV's that allow it to be viewed brilliantly. I will say WOT has not so far gone as bad as the battle for winter-fell, which no one could actually see (I mean to be fair I wish that had been the case for all of season 8 lol). I hope that we will get more daytime action throughout WOT

the battle at Falme will be during the day. There will just be a thick fog because of the blowing of the horn. So, visibility will probably be worse.

  8. Sorry if I ask about something that has already been addressed, there are too many replies in here to go through at the moment.

There has not been any good indication as to what the girls have actually learned in their training. We see Egwene block a door with fire and the water cleaning but don’t really know how what their limits might be right now.

I think the Fade on the building reveal went by too fast to really take in how shocking it should be. I was more impressed in the book.

I think Liandrin cutting Nyn off from the source was good to see, but seemed to just be kind of a small thing in a big scene. It will play a part in the story later and I wonder if some non-readers missed it.

    Spoiler

Is Moiraine blocked or is she stilled and can now lie to Lan and everyone else?

trying to remember, in the book this is one of the many things aes sedai do naked isn't it? Not important to the scene but confirms that the tv show is going to get rid of some of RJ's more gratuitous naked scenes.

This is something they perform nude in the books. This does not confirm the show changed it, as Nyneave would disrobe after she says she is ready. However, I would be surprised if the show follows the book on that point.

Although, I think it would show the magic involved in a way. The woman goes in naked but is clothed inside the arch. I know they could just change clothes in each scene. I just think it would be a little more pronounced if they take nothing in and suddenly have something.

It also brings up if they are clothed, would someone be able to take another terangreal in instead of leaving it in the room?  Probably doesn’t matter overall.

  10. I am planning on watching it again to recall the show specific things. The first watch through had me a bit angry with the deviations from the book. A subsequent watch through was much more palatable.

    Anyone else watching it again?

My daughter wants to watch it with me, but she wants to wait until Season 2 releases so she can binge them and not have to wait week to week. I will probably watch without her first to get the angry part over with and enjoy it more watching with her afterward.

  11. I liked the music. I didn’t even notice the lyrics until I read them in here.

I don’t think the season will have modern music, though.
I liked most of the music from season 1, but would have liked some more uptempo songs as well.

Here is a song that makes me think of an amped up Al’Naito. I know they are singing Japanese, not the old tongue 😛, and it is more Indian inspired. It is just more exotic for us Westerners. Maybe just one song with this kind of energy?

    Shanti Shanti Shanti - BabyMetal.

sorry, i don’t know how to inbed the video.

  12. Didn’t the Seanchan use ravens as symbols on some things?  Could Mat have picked up a spear from them?

Based on season 1 trailer vs show, how much of what is in this trailer do we think will be in the show and could something in it get cut?

  13. My observation:

the White Tower looks good. I noticed what looks like someone in a blue dress standing on the third circle up in the tower. Could it be Moiraine returned to the tower somehow?

Turak has a heron marked blade.

Avienda looks to be fighting Whitecloaks.

The Seanchan Damane look to be beating up Shienarans.

    Matt is facing the dagger.

I did not see Padan Fain.

Somebody is using a fancy flaming sword. 😉

soooooo many book scenes hinted or shown!  I wonder how they can fit them all in with the number of episodes they have without feeling rushed like Season 1?
