  1. ((OoC: I write both Emily and Jared to forestall any confusion. I'll notate who's perspective I'm writing from.))

    *Emily*

Emily took Jared's hand as they exited the limosine. She was in a light blue dress with sapphire earrings and a necklace to match. Jared hadn't grown up rich, but he knew how to be a gentleman, and that was mostly what she expected of her husband at the event.

Emily couldn't help but smile at him as she placed her arm in his offered arm. Her soldier was dressed in his dress uniform - all neat and pressed and his medals were polished to a mirror sheen. Despite having shaved, he still had the five O'clock shadow. But he was handsome, and she was here with him.

She was surprised that he had agreed to come. There were better ways they could have spent his leave, but as one of Moscow's richest, she had to be there. He understood and they asked Mara to watch over their baby boy, Michael.

They entered the mansion, and Emily got a flute of chanpagne and handed it to Jared before taking one of her own. Despite the fact she knew he was uncomfortable, he didn't show it. Jared still didn't know how he fit in with this crowd.

Emily scanned the crowd to see if she noticed anyone. And almost choked on her champagne when she saw Nox Durante. She hadn't seen him since they met. Despite his affiliation with the Atharim, Ayden had told her that she hadn't been added to their list, although she was sure Ayden didn't trust him.

"What is it?" Jared asked her, after she regained her breath.

"That's him, Nox Durante." She said and smiled a mischievous smile. "We must say hello." Despite their history, Emily held no grudge against Nox. The mistrust she had developed had led her to Jared. Whereas Ayden could vault over her defenses, Jared had torn them down. It was the reason she had hated him when they first met. And it was one of the many reasons she loved him so much now.

    *******

    *Jared*

Jared didn't really get into these events, but he went with Emily. It wasn't that he was bored, but he didn't always feel like he fit in with them. He felt like he had no place amongst the rich and famous. He was just a simple soldier.

When Emily pointed out Nox, he tried to hold back a laugh. He knew Nox's history with Emily, even how much he had hurt her. But a butterfly flaps its wings in China...

That event had made her the person he fell in love with, and to be honest, hatred was wasted. The smile Emily gave Jared bespoke her intentions. Let's make Nox feel a little uncomfortable. Jared smiled and nodded, letting Emily take the lead.

Emily waited until Nox's back was to them and approached. "Mr. Durante," Emily said. "How wonderful it is to see you again. This is my husband, Jared."

Jared offered Nox his hand and a warm smile. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Durante."

  2. First of all, I must apologize. I've not been a good leader. I've been dealing with a lot of personal issues and for the most part have them under control now (I hope). I plan on really working on stuff now and hope to make this a really fun place to be. If like to start getting the CotL RPing with other groups. Any thoughts?

  3. Kira smiled as she got on a new dress for the High Chasaline Celebration.  It wasn't often that she go new clothes.  If it wasn't necessary she didnt, but Kira's training with Rekinu had been going well and she thought she deserved to indulge herself a bit.  The blue dress was a dark blue and Kira accented it with a sapphire pendant around her neck.  Kira always enjoyed celebrations, but every year she missed the bustle at her parents inn.  It was always busy, but not without entertainment.  She smiled at the memories and went to the Green Ajah practice yard.

Several had already arrived.  Among them was Ellisha - her fellow Sister.  Kira hadn't seen Ellisha since the incident with Rekinu, but she had thought of the younger Blue often.  Kira hoped she was doing well and although she wouldn't bring up the situation, Kira would be there to help should she ask.  It was what sisters did.  Ellisha was accompanied by the hostess, Loraine Sedai.  A novice stood off to the side with a tray of wine.  Kira noticed her eyes go to the buffet table.  Kira smiled - she remembered those days well.  Kira also knew that likely, the Novice would enjoy the after feast immensely - if she didn't get herself sick.  Kira took a glass of wine from the tray and gave the girl a broad smile. "Thank you, child.  You are doing a wonderful job."

Kira then approached Ellisha and Loraine.  Kira bowed her head in respect to the hostess. "Thank you Loraine Sedai, for the invitation to the festivites." She turned to Ellisha. "Ellisha Sedia, it is wonderful to see you again Sister." Kira's eyes were bright and full of joy.  The anger she had felt at the outburst in the Warder Yards was completely gone.

  4. Kira frowned as Ellisha ran. Something was wrong, although Kira had no idea what. Something had happened. With that knowledge, Kira's anger dissipated. Kira would talk to her.

She turned to the Warder, who was probably very confused. "Rekinu Gaidin. I think there is more to this issue than meets the eye. I'd like to stick around and wait for her to return. I'll speak with her and see if I can help. I think your presence may make her uncomfortable, and would prefer to talk to my sister alone. If you don't mind."

She hoped the warder would understand. She sat down and waited, still holding her staff. Ellisha came back, and Kira gave her a smile. The woman felt bad for what she did, but neither her nor the Gaidin had come up with a penance. Kira wanted to help and throwing punishment Elisha's way might not help.

Kira stood up and approached Ellisha. The fire in her eyes was gone and was replaced with compassion. "What's wrong Ellisha? Something caused that reaction. I don't think you need judgment. I think you need help." Kira met her eyes. "I would like to help you. I don't know if I can, but I will try. We are both Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah. That makes us sisters, and I don't want to see my sister hurt." Kira smiled an encouraging smile. "If you do not wish to talk, that's okay, but know my door is always open to you."

Kira smiled and gave Ellisha some space. She couldn't help Ellisha if the woman didn't want it. She hoped she would receive the gift Kira freely offered. She truthfully cared about her sister.

  5. Ellisha lost control. That was the best way to put it. She started pummeling the warder furiously. His own oath to protect Aes Sedai probably prevented him from doing much more besides defending himself.

It was when the other blue embraced the power that Kira reacted. She had to interfere. She had shouted for the other Aes Sedai to stop, but those were falling on deaf ears. The Three Oaths prevented her from using the power as a weapon, and if Ellisha was intending to do so, she must have truthfully thought the Warder was a threat or dark friend

Kira embraced the power and its sweetness filled her. She wove a shield and wrapped it around Ellisha, cutting her off from the power. T was more difficult to do with the other Blue holding it, but Kira persisted until the glow disappeared from Ellisha.

"Enough!" she shouted, approaching the scene. She tied off the weave as she did so and wove air around Ellisha pinning her in place. She did this for the protection of herself and the Warder.

Rasheta Sedai had told her an Aes Sedai must be in control at all times. Kira had learned that lesson the hard way. She kept her control despite the anger she felt.

She didn't chastise the Aes Sedai there, but the Blue would get an earful soon. If she didn't want to be treated like a novice, she needed to stop acting like one. She would do so as they returned to the Tower in a more private manner.

Instead she offered her hand to the Gaidin, helping him stand. "I can only offer my sincerest apologies for this Gaidin. I can tell you healing isn't among my strengths, but I can do a little of you wish."

She turned to Ellisha. "Can I trust you to keep control?" As she said it she thought about how lucky Ellisha was that Taia wasn't here. Otherwise there might be a pile of ashes where she stood.

  6. Kira arrived a little early and saw Rekinu working on some drills.  She admired it for a bit - seeing the grace in which he moved.  In a few moments, she joined in with the stretching she had learned the day before.  She felt like she had learned a lot yesterday, and was hoping to solidify some of those skills and learn some more.  They were interrupted by the presence of another Aes Sedai approaching.  It appeared that Rekinu had a new student.

The student was a Blue as well.  Kira recognized her although she hadn't remembered her name until the Master of Trainees introduced her.  And then...she interrupted him.  Kira did not approve.  She knew of those who thought of Aes Sedai being superior simply because they were Aes Sedai.  Kira was among the minority in that aspect.  She didn't believe herself superior - gifted, yes - but not superior.  Maybe it was the teacher that brought that to her.   Kira found Rekinu's response to be interesting.  Few warders had the guts to stand up to an Aes Sedai, but his words were clear.  He was saying that he was the teacher and she'd learn what he'd teach her.

Kira caught the sarcasm in the woman's tone at her choice of weapon, and Kira felt the emotions begin to rise, but she had perfected her control over the course of her Aes Sedai career.  No uninvited emotion played on her face, and inside, she kept the torrent calm.  She turned her eyes on Ellisha, her eyes meeting Ellisha's own, and spoke - the tone non-accusatory, but not friendly either.  It was the look in her eyes that was important.  They burned not with anger, but with seriousness.  It was the look a teacher got when trying to teach an important lesson - meant to keep the students eyes focused on the teacher.  Few outside of the teaching field could pull it off, especially while talking, but Kira had been teaching a long time.

"Ellisha Sedai," The woman had earned the Shawl and thus, the honorific.  Kira wouldn't take that from her. "You will find that if you practice patience, you will learn faster and better.  I would suggest practicing it.  You'll find more success when you work with those trying to help you than by resisting them."

Kira then turned to Rekinu who instructed her on how to properly hold the staff.  Kira practiced what she preached and showed patience as Rekinu fixed her stance and helped her become familiar with the weapon.  She nodded her understanding as the things he said made sense and then continued on practicing.  Kira knew the two Aes Sedai would likely be off to a rocky start, but she hoped that could change.  They could be a big help to each other in their lessons.

  7. “Now for the final step.” Jeor said, breaking the silence once more. “As recruits, you’ve learnt about our three divisions – the Army of the Light, the Hand, and the Eyes. Now is the time to choose."

The doors opened and three clerks entered carrying several cloaks.  Most of the recruits already had their eyes locked on the clerk they would need to head to.  Their decisions were made, this was just a formality.  Kyle like the other recruits had already chosen his path.  Among the recruits, he was one of few who had real combat experience.  The ordeal had left him traumatized and he had to see counselors for awhile, but doing so had forced Kyle to face his past in a way he never had before.  He had come to acceptance of what had happened so long ago and despite his past, he had still been accepted into the ranks of Children.  His experience however, drew him to the Army of the Light.

Of the eight recruits, Kyle and three others, two men and one woman,  approached the Army of the Light Clerk.  Three men headed to the Hand of the Light and one woman went to the Eyes.  Kyle quickly donned his new cloak, unable to hide his pride any longer.  He felt like a new man and in many ways he was.  He only hoped that he would continue to become a better person as his life continued to unfold.

“Well done. I formally acknowledge you as members of the Children of the Light. Welcome home, Brothers and Sisters. May the Light forever shine true in your hearts, whatever your calling may be.” Jeor said loudly, dismissing the group.

As one, the eight snapped to attention and saluted him.  They had come here as boys and girls, ignorant and alone, and left the Dome of Truth that night as Brothers and Sisters in the Children of the Light.  The eight of them stepped out of the Dome of Truth and the excitement they had been holding in for so long finally was allowed an outlet.  They jumped into each others arms and congratulated each other before heading as one to the mess tent to have some Kaf to celebrate.  They were no longer recruits; they were Children of the Light!

  8. Kyle entered the Dome of Truth with the other recruits and quickly fell into a line formation.  The recruits were silent, recognizing the importance of this occasion; however, Kyle couldn’t keep the excitement of the moment from showing on his face.   Kyle kept his eyes on the man at the front of the room, waiting patiently for instructions.  The man’s face belayed the seriousness of what was about to happen.  Kyle recognized him as Jeor Alroel, the Master at Arms in the Army of the Light.  He had worked with Kyle during some of their weapons training sessions.

The room remained silent, Jeor allowing the silence to add to the somberness of the moment before speaking, his voice echoing dramatically in the Dome of Truth. “You all have been summoned to take the Firth Oath of the Children of the Light. If you have any reservations about joining, now is the time to leave. For this is your last chance to do so before swearing.”

He paused and silence once again reigned in the Dome of Truth.  It seemed as if even the birds had quit their singing in recognition of the event.  The silence meant one very important thing; none of the recruits were leaving.  Kyle knew in this moment, that he couldn’t leave.  The Children of the Light were his family and for once he felt a true pride in himself.  He stayed at attention, his eyes focused on the wall in front of him and his ears waiting to hear the words spoken by the Master at Arms.

“Now, since you’re all still here. We meet at days end and night begins to seal your commitment to the Light. Repeat after me: By the Light and my hope of Salvation and rebirth, I swear fealty to the Children of the Light. I vow to serve, respect, and grant obedience to the high command. In the name of the Creator, I swear it.”

This was it.  In a few short moments, he would really be a Child of the Light!  All that hard work was for this moment.  Despite all the training, Kyle couldn’t keep the smile from his face as he spoke the words.

“By the Light and my hope of Salvation and rebirth, I swear fealty to the Children of the Light. I vow to serve, respect, and grant obedience to the high command. In the name of the Creator, I swear it.”

Kyle remembered to put his smile aside as he finished the words.  The pride still swelled within him.  He could feel warmth in his chest that he had seldom felt throughout his life.  Silence once more prevailed in the room as the echoes of the Oath faded away.  Kyle stood at attention waiting for the next set of directions.

  9. Kyle was on a break.  They didn't come often, so he utilized the time well, relaxing and practicing his reading.  He had come a long way since joining the Children of the Light - not able to even recognize letters to attempting to read The Way of the Light.  It was a difficult read and Kyle had trouble deciphering some of the harder words.  He would have to ask Roudal about them the next time he saw him.  Kyle had also killed his first man.  He mistakenly ended up in part of a mission when he ran into Hundredman Ackley Carnel.  He had almost messed up the operation, but Carnel had helped him in the end.  Kyle hadn't taken well to killing someone and he had been recommended for psychological evaluation.  In time, Kyle had dealt with the issue and had moved on in his training.

A knock came to his door, and Kyle place a small sheet of paper into the book to mark his place for later.  He stood, stretching the muscles that had tightened as he had been reading and opened the door. He opened the door to find one of the servants at the door.  Kyle didn't recognize him, and the servant didn't look up as Kyle opened the door.  He held a parchment and read from it in a loud voice.

"Kyle Kirnan, you've been ordered to report to the Fortress at Eighteen-hundred in order to take your Oaths and be admitted to the Children of the Light.  Please be prepared and on time."

Kyle hesitated, the words not quite having meaning yet.  He took the parchment and read it, furrowing his brows a couple of times before offering the servant a thank you.  The servant bid him farewell and moved quickly to deliver the rest of his notices.  Kyle turned and shut the door, rereading the parchment a couple of times.  He had gotten decent enough at reading, but it still took him awhile sometimes.  He had read through the note twice before it really hit him.

I've made it...I'm going to be a Child of the Light!

He had worked harder for this moment than he had for anything else.  For the first time, Kyle felt really proud of himself.  He opened his closet and check his armor.  He had several hours to clean up, and he wanted everything to be pristine for this moment.  When he was satisfied with his armor, he moved to his wash basin to clean himself, feeling elated at seeing his clean face again.  He dressed, making sure every seam was in place and everything was fitted properly.

He left his room, a new spring in his step and met eight other recruits outside.  He expected talking, but all of the recruits recognized the solemnity of what was about to occur.  They remained silent, waiting for the ceremony to begin.  Kyle thought back to his days as a recruit, and thought of how quickly it had seemed to have gone.  It seemed like only yesterday he was a dirty thief that had approached the soldiers talking about the "Tar Valon Witches."

The doors opened, and Kyle entered the Fortress, feeling an excitement he had not felt since he arrived at the Fortress on that first day so long ago.

  10. They are different.  The social group is well...for being social.  Here it is specifically designed for roleplaying.  You create a character (in this case, a wolfkin), write up a bio, and then play that character in the Wheel of Time world.

That link will help you get more information on the RP group itself.  If you like, you can go down below this section and read some Role Plays to figure out what it is about.

The next link is an example of a wolfkin one using my character Jace.
