Smoking out the cop is not the actual strategy you should employ. Bc to do that you give yourself up. Meaning you let the cop essentially peek you for free.

 

You really only try it to see if maybe there is no cop and you can get away with taking the town lead.

Based on this, and in the hopes of aiding town the best I feel I can at this point, I'm just going to come out with it: I'm the town cop. If I survive D1 I will ask for everyone's votes for my view, and I will abide by the majority vote. If no majority can be reached, I will use my view on Zander and report my findings first thing D2. I realize this makes me super vulnerable to people ready to either lynch based on power-role claim, especially with only 2 current votes on me, but deadline is fast approaching, and I feel my best move right now is to just come out with it and let you guys do what you will.

I'm being absolutely honest, and while it's objectively early to have claimed, Marsh was the cop in the buffy game and got NK'd on the first night anyway, so I figured I'd at LEAST try to help town with information and maybe try and help guide towards a solid D1 lynch instead of getting picked off before having the opportunity to help much.

Unfortunately I know this puts Marsh in jeopardy as well, as IC, because there's reason for scum to shoot either of us N1. But I felt like we were spinning our wheels without really getting anywhere, deadline looming not far ahead, and I'd prefer to use my role to it's maximum potential, even if that means having to claim on D1

I dont get this claiming when you didnt have to is the worst chance possible for max potential.

If your Town I have a hard time thinking you thought of Marsh last game and that claiming while under min pressure and there being another train and 7 hours to go would give you the chance to MAXIMIZE your Cop potential because if youre telling the truth youd be Scum's # 1 target.

Ok, I'm going to explain it yet again, because I asked you to answer me directly when asked questions, it's only far I live up to that myself:

 

Marsh getting NK'd N1 played a huge factor into my decision. He didn't get to use his abilities once, and we lost our cop N1 without ever reaping any benefit. I feel like you are mafia, Zander, which would tell me that if I'm not lynched D1, I"m likely going to be NK'd. It was a calculated risk, but I decided I wanted my posts and my flip to mean as much as possible if so, and give town an edge if I do survive by allowing them to dictate my reads. This even means sacrificing what I'd LIKE to do most, view you, if that's not what everyone else thinks would be most productive.

 

I don't think it's fair to say I was under min pressure. I've acknowledged I wasn't facing a train or anything, but you and your tunneling on me no matter what I say or do feels like pressure, so I did the one thing I felt I could do at this point to get town to focus and to use my posts and / or flip when killed to help.

 

I can accept that you don't agree with how I've handled this or with my decision to claim, but you can either accept that it's happened and use it, or you can continue to drill on me. Either way I don't care at this point, but you're really starting to seem desperate at this point.

True, unless they're worried they'll be peeked. But, of course, if the peek is announced beforehand they'll know if it's on them or not, and then they can control whether or not to kill there. The only worry for scums if he's not peeking them is if too many people get confirmed as townies. Basically, if they don't kill Random tonight they have to kill Marsh to keep the number of cleared players down.

This was an interesting exchange. Zander pressure-votes Shad, Eldrick jumps on it in no time (not Sock, as Sooh was surprised by the exchange). Then Zander immediately jumps on Sock.It was surprising. 

 

I'll say this though, which could be WIFOM, but makes sense in my head - If we think that Sock is scum, then they would both be on 2 QTs. I don't think this mix-up of Eldrick jumping the vote gun on Shad and then Sooh going "wait, what?" happens if they've got two QT boards to check. One, perhaps, but if they're working with mafia as well as each other, that seems like a GIANT stretch for experienced players. 

 

Now, with the setup of this game, they could still be mafia traitor and make the above mistake without having a second QT, but given Sooh's play without Eldricks, I'd be leaning townie. Eldrick alone I'd have a slight scum read on primarily for the whole exchange quoted directly above. I think in their own accidental way they've bought themselves a pass from me for now. Do with that what you will, all

I'm somewhere between thinking that's too rambly and too train of thought to be constructed from a scum. I don't know if Random is good scum, but most scums I know polish their ideas a bit more before adding them to the thread.

 

On the other hand I don't know what it means that they are the only ones who seem to be more level headed about the situation, and be spectators rather than throwing themselves out there with more reactionary stuff.

 

I definitely agree with his observation.  I'm not seeing where his way of expressing it is too natural to be wolf but I'm not lynching a D1 cop claim so /shrug.

Need to not let myself play Mafia all day

 

Been pretty good about it so far

 

Shutting my PC off bb tonight

Something so odd about Shad being able to take breaks in the middle of intense mafia games. Idk. Maybe he's just trying to have a not so all consuming approach.

 

 

You get me Mon-Fri from when my morning work is over until 2pm, which will be anything from 2 hours to nothing, you get me if my kids are napping simultaneously, you get me from 8 or 9pm until 1am.  If I can't force myself to commit to this then I need to quit Mafia again because what I was doing to myself in the last few games was not a sustainable lifestyle.

I am only about 40 pages into the game. Unlikely I will catch up before deadline. Just too many posts.

 

Thoughts so far:

 

Manbat felt townie in that outburst. Don't see him being that emotional as town. So is Nyn. 

Zander has looked fine despite his lower than usual posts. Typical as an early Zander game. 

 

Eldrick seems aggressive and posting a lot. Some posts stood out - like voting Manbat around the time he was active - which looked a bit opportunistic. And, his going after Darthe when he mentioned that he is not going to read the game. I would say he falls under the category of "too wolfy to be a wolf".

 

Notbob, Darthe and Dice seem null or they are playing like they usually do D1. 

 

One person I find odd is Shad. Not about the level of posting but he just looks like drifting through the game. His posts seem too passive and he is commenting on general stuff. That is really odd knowing how he plays. If at this point, I am asked who is scum, I would say Shad.
